I think there's probably something that's about right. When push comes to shove, any machine that gets all your arms and legs moving and your heart pumping probably is about the same.
Fitday divvies things up oddly. It'll give you a hundred different choices for household chores that all use about one calorie per minute. They differentiate between doing dishes at home and doing dishes at church!
Maybe have a look at ski machine and the stationary bikes and see what you think, dependant on your intensity.

thank you I tried the ski machine at it is pretty correct on the cals burned. close enough I guess

thats what i choose when i do the elliptical machine...i use the ski machine. it is pretty close to the calories i burn on the ellipical.
