I am also 5'7 and when I started at 175 and a snug size 12... I am now 153 and a size 10.....3 years ago when I was 140-145 I was a size 8 and when I was 135 I was a size 6.
*I have lost 22 pounds and only one dress size, since I lost the weight all over (mostly in my legs)....but the next 20 pounds will be different since there is less to lose
I am 5'11' and now I am at 210 I can get into a 14 just fine...whats up with that....
On a different note I tryed on some of the low rise jeans....and they did not look like I thought they would....
This was a ? that has bothered me myself.I am 5'6 & weigh 200 & wear a size 18(my belly is an 18~my legs,butt & thighs are a 16)BUT I can't get a 16 around my belly. My friend is 5'8 & wears a 14.She's bigger then me & weighs more then me,but can fit into a 14!!!I wore a 14 when I weighed 150.It's NOT fair!!! I look a mess in the 18's because they're so big everywhere,but the belly......I am going to get it off!!!
No-they are absolutely not the same. The same with Misses and Juniors. This is often why a pair of pants will could say 7/8 in the Misses section...but if you get over to the juniors section, where the pants are cut much slimmer for teens-you might have to squeeze into a 9, and I mean SQUEEZE. *laughing*
I just go to the salvation army or resale shops and buy jeans now I made the mistake in the begining of my weight loss adverture when I dropped a size to go buy new ones 35 bucks down the drain... Two weeks later their falling off... Starting to look like a bag lady in most my clothes
Now that I'm smaller and actually have a waist, I'm finding low rise pants to be a bit more annoying. My hips aren't too big but my butt certainly is so pants that are even the slightest bit loose drop down until they hit the wide part of my a** unless I belt them on. But I would hate for the low rise trend to go away because I really do have a low rise. Hip huggers come up nicely to my natural waist, but anything higher cut goes to my ribcage. Jeans and bra should not meet in the middle, folks.
And for the info, I'm 5'3, 170, and fitting into larger 12s and junior 13s.
I think my sizes go down a little quicker than every 20lbs. Let's see. I am 5'5", 191lbs(don't ask), and wear a 17/18 (loose)juniors and a 16 womens (or misses, I usually buy juniors).
When I was 180lbs, I was a size 13/14-15/16 juniors, When I was 170lbs, I was a size 13/14 juniors, So I'm guessing at 160 I will be a size 11/12 and at 150lbs, I will be a 9/10. I'm hoping anyway!
...but if you get over to the juniors section, where the pants are cut much slimmer for teens-you might have to squeeze into a 9, and I mean SQUEEZE. *laughing*
No thanks.. I will pass up that adventure..
I guess I never paid much attention because I never have enjoyed shoppping.. especially for clothes.
Everyone has been so helpful in responding to my post. Based on many of the things I have learned from you, what I know about myself, and answers to questions on page 49 of "Thin for Life", I think I have finally been able to set a reasonable goal weight for myself.
Up till now it has been based on clothing size. I realize a clothes size goal will help me in reducing my weight but when it comes to maintanance there is too much 'wishy-washy' room.. like a tight 12, loose, how loose? what brand.. are we talking jeans? pants? what happens when manufacturers raise sizes again? what happens when my favorite pair of jeans become worn out and I can't use them as a gauge anymore..
So I've decided on a goal of less than 170 pounds. For my 5'7" large frame I think it is attainable, realistic, and manageable for the rest of my life.
