Default Scales!!!! Help!!!!

Hey everyone
I was just wondering about how correct home scales are. I bought one, (its digital) and i weight myself Friday, and today it says I lost 7lbs. I dont know...I also was about to get my peroid on the when I weighed myself before...

Does that have an effect? can any one recomend a good scale?

THANKS!
~Heather~

Not to dash your hopes, Heather, but I've found that my weight can fluctuate by as much as 6 pounds from day to day. A very good reason for not weighing yourself too frequently (of which I have been guilty ). I about freaked the first time it jumped _UP_ by 5 pounds. But within a couple of days it fell back down and I lost, as well. So I wouldn't throw the scale away, just yet. I'm not positive my weight is totally accurate, but I figure the scale just lets me know that it is heading in the right direction.

I am also guilty of weighing daily and I get weird results. I stopped doing that about 2 weeks ago. I use a digital scale and it has always been accurate with my doctor's scales.

Oh also, I had scales that did body fat and something else. It was junk. My whole family weighed the same as far as body fat and it was always off by either 5lbs to much or 5 lbs to less. My doctor joked that the more things on a scale, the more inaccuracies.

Best to weigh yourself once a week as your weight can fluctuate on a daily basis due to water retention or the time of the month etc. I too have digital scales, and when I used to weigh-in at WW each week, I would come home and re-check my weight on my scales ... they were always exactly the same as the WW scales, so I guess mine were pretty accurate.

I don't recommend weighing in any more often than once a week. For the most accurate results-weigh yourself first thing in the morning before you eat-and wear your undergarments or something very lightweight each time.

I'm an everyday weigher. (first thing in the morning naked) I actually like seeing the scale. I've posted about this before- but I bounce up and down alot- within 3-4 lbs and then I'll lose another lb.
But like an above poster said, it's not uncommon to gain and lose a lot in the same day. Last week, I went from 173 to 177 over 3 days and then the very next day when I weighed I was 173. ("lost" 4 lbs in 1 day?!) It fluctuates that much.
I'll show you my chart, just so you can see...
1/24/2005 177
1/25/2005 173
1/26/2005 173
1/27/2005 174
1/28/2005 173
1/29/2005 172
1/30/2005 172
1/31/2005 173
2/1/2005 173

(my ticker is with clothes on once a month from Curves) and my scale and curves naked vs sweatpants and tshirt have always been about 5 lbs difference.

Good luck!

with the weighing youself. I weigh myself at my house and its usually between 2-3 lbs from the shipping scale at my work. They are pretty close.. I usually just take the one with the lowest weight :-P hehe.. But Yeah don't weigh yourself daily. You are supposed to weigh yourself once a week but skip the week of your monthly cycle. That can be a little uncomforting!
