Default Can you get back to your high school weight?

So, when I graduated high school, I was between 115-120 lb. I stayed at 120 lb until I reached the age of 25 (at which point medication interfered with the natural process of my weight so I just don't know what would have happened otherwise).

My doctor said that it is physically possible to get back to the weight you were when you graduated high school. I'm 38 years old now.

What do you guys think of this? When I think of getting to 120 lb now, I just feel like that's completely physically impossible. And it's not even my goal because I feel like it's so impossible. But I guess technically, my bones haven't grown, I'm still the same frame underneath all this blubber lol.

However, I'm wondering, IS it possible? Has anyone ever experienced getting below your your original goal and close to your high school weight?

I was 118 when I graduated, wearing what would now be considered a size 2/4.

I weigh 125 now and wear a size 2/4. I have bigger boobs, booty and a little bit of tummy from kids. But mostly I have actual muscle. I didn't work out the last two years of high school.

At my lowest weight, I was 145 pounds - I was 15 at that time, and I lost more than 100 pounds to get to that weight. I've based my goal weight on how I looked/felt at 145 as well as the weights/heights of other women in my family - I still had a tummy at 145 and was a little flabby, so I'm aiming for 135. I'm of course open to a different goal weight (higher or even slightly lower) when I get closer and see how I look/feel/how much muscle I have, but for now I'd like to weigh LESS than I did at my lowest high-school weight, and I definitely believe that it's possible.

We have put human beings up on the moon. Tonight go look at the moon and think about that for a second.

We've built tunnels under the sea.

Without machinery people built the pyramids.

Is is POSSIBLE? Of course it is possible.

Is it probable? Maybe but it depends on a large number of factors.

I think worrying about a specific number on the scale is going about things in an unconstructive manner.

Being healthy, having a positive self image, and other similar goals are in my opinion much better than worrying about what the scale says when you stand on it.

Anything's possible.

I was about size 14 or 16 in high school (not sure of the exact poundage). I got down to 155 pounds (size 10) just a few years ago - and I'm also 38.

Oh JohnP, you crack me up.

Yeah, I know. I'm not obsessed with a specific "number" anymore. I'm old enough to know better and, honestly, if I was 135 and looked and felt awesome, that would mean more to me that seeing a scale that said 120, or any number for that matter.

This was more of a curious question. I thought it was an interesting topic for discussion.

Well I suppose my high school weight wasn't that ambitious - I was a size 12/14 and about 160-165 pounds. I've always been curvy and muscular, and definitely didn't look fat.

And yes, I was able to get back to it, even after morbid obesity and a few babies. I began this pregnancy at 163 (and am STILL under 200, even miserable here at the end and waiting to give birth) and was a size 10/12 and medium in many tops. My hips are a bit wider, my bust is larger, and overall I am actually much more shapely at this same weight than I was as a 14 year old. Basically, I look hotter now than I ever did then

If I could do it, ANYONE can! I'm a sloooow loser and have taken several breaks by circumstance and choice, both. But I hit my high school weight and am not done losing yet. It can definitely be done, even if your body has never been this small as an adult many of us can still manage this feat

Hells to the yeah! I'm back to elementary school weight. And, fair enough, because I'm pretty much the same height!

While in most cases it's possible, as we get older and our bodies change, women have babies, things shift, were you actually maybe a bit under normal at that time?

Who knows?

I was around 155 and 5'4" when I graduated, back when the dinosaurs stomped the earth. I'm now 5'5" and have had twin babies and I'm 53, and I weigh 138, but, oh my, stuff has shifted! Gravity is not my friend! LOL.

Given a couple of flabby spots, I could really lose 5 more pounds, and part of me wants to, but right now, I'm content maintaining where I am. I never thought I could get to 138 and stay! Let alone lose 5 more pounds.

In my case, my body composition is somewhat different now than it was 36 years ago. My shoulders are a lot broader, hips a bit wider, given childbirth, the girls have gone south, and given the last 18 months of strength training, I have thighs! Muscular thighs! I also have an a belly pooch, partly inherited and partly due to the size of the twins, over 6#'s each! And stretch marks, oh my!

It's all good. I like my body! I'm strong and I think I look hot all things considered!

I can, but I was chubby in high school! My initial goal weight of 135 is what I weighed in high school. I'm actually hoping to get a little lower, but I'm just going to get work towards that and reevaluate.

It would seem like it being 5'6 and 120 lb, but actually no, I wasn't "skinny", I just looked normal-slim. I was very healthy, worked out 6 days a week, very Britney Spears in her Slave to You phase type shape (not saying in any way I look like her, that's just very close to my body shape). I have had no babies either.

That's I guess why I can't imagine being my high school weight again - just all the hormones and womanly things in general...

Hey there,

Your goals are really similar to mine. I wasn't starting to gain tummy weight until my 2nd year of college, and I would like to get back to the weight I was in H.S.: around 125/130. I'd have to lose around 40 lbs.

Reading the replies above give me hope. I hope they did the same for you

I think I'm probably about what I weighed in high school, and wearing about the same sizes. I'm wearing 5s/7s which is what I wore then, but I know my waist is bigger now than it was then. I have no idea what inspired me to do it, but I do remember measuring my waist in HS and it being 24", whereas now it's 25.5" (could do with a bit more sculpting work though!)

That being said, I've not had any kids so my overall body shape didn't change as I got bigger, it just looked a lot more padded.
