day 162 ...
no late-night eating ... 121 days in a row and another new world record !
there's no question now that my weight loss isn't what it used to be in the early days. i had gotten used to losses of 1.5 lbs per week quite consistently. that has now slowed to about 1 lb per week. still very good, in fact, that was the goal all along, but it was so nice to see it coming off at a quicker pace than planned.

stoopid scale always seems happy to toss an unearned pound back on me at the end of the month, right before the weigh-in ... whateva ! the official weigh-in is tomorrow, so we shall see what's up then.
with the sun rising earlier every day, so am i. the downside to this is that there are more hours available during which one can be tempted to eat, but i firmly believe that i am still running a calorie deficit every single say, however small it may be.

the scale wouldn't co-operate in taking back that unearned pound so as to allow me to make goal for april. that's about par for the course, i suppose. it will usually make up for it when i least expect it and, besides, i know better than to fret over the inaccuracies of a low-end digital scale that must be over 20 years old. moving on ...
current weight = 181lbs.; goal for june 1 = 177 lbs.

yesterday i fully recovered from my morning snacking issue mainly due to the fact that i was on my feet and busy most of the day; the scale took notice too. water helped.
staying the course.

lately, i find myself having to make an effort to get my 4 glasses of water every day. the one in the morning is fairly automatic, as is the one late at night, but getting two more in during the day seems to be a challenge, and it is these 2 daytime glasses that are the most helpful in curbing the snacking. being aware of the problem is half the battle, so there's that.
i am about due for a change of pace so will likely indulge in some sushi again tonight.

still plodding along. i have always had trouble finishing things, so with the goal being so close at hand i am a little worried. still wanting a snack in the middle of the night and/or just before sleep, and still have to force myself a bit to drink water. the good news : i really enjoy every single thing i eat now. who knew that beans, brussels sprouts, oranges, etc were absolutely delicious. still miss my pies and bread of course, but once a week or so i indulge in a muffin and croissant so i dont feel totally deprived in that department. the bad news : eating those things just leaves me wanting more, more, more !

last night i had a lot of trouble sleeping because i had a HUGE nap during the day. so of course, while i am tossing and turning my food-addicted brain tries to sell me on the idea of a snack ... 'just to knock me out ' ... i got through it, but am still tempted every night, without exception, the only difference is that it is stronger and more prolonged when i have trouble falling asleep.
still working the plan, and the plan is still working, although the weight is coming off slower since my body mass is 30 lbs. less than when i started and i have maintained pretty much the same calorie intake.

a dessert that i now have virtually every night is oatmeal with thawed frozen fruit blend and about a cup of cottage cheese. occasionally i will go to the bakery and buy a muffin and croissant, and these will be a substituted for the oatmeal dish. that's what i did last night. i realized that i now find the oatmeal dish more filling/satisfying and obviously it packs more nutrients. in short, i think i actually prefer the oatmeal to the baked goods, which surprises the **** out of me.

the bad news ... have already done a fair bit of snacking today. going to have to stick to water and not much else until evening in order to have any sort of calorie deficit at all.
the good news ... yesterday was another 3 star day making 33 in a row which breaks the old world record of 32 in a row , held by me !!!

having engaged in a fair bit of snacking early yesterday i continued throughout the rest of the day struggling to get it under control. in the evening i realized that i hadn't consumed much water at all, so that was probably why. in the end, i salvaged the day with a very small dinner and caught up with my water intake. fortunately, when i do snack, it's pretty healthy stuff. since i live alone, i am able to keep junky foods out of the house, so i am fortunate that way. those who are trying to take charge of their food choices while having a junk-eating spouse or teenager in the house must have a much harder time.
note to self : WATER IS MY FRIEND !!!

been rising with the sun lately and that creates more hours to eat/think about eating ... so there's that. trying hard to keep the snacking under control. when i feel that i have perhaps eaten a bit too much during the day i try to maintain the calorie deficit by having a fairly light dinner.
if nothing else, these past 175 days have taught me to really appreciate simpler, healthier food. don't get me wrong, if the opportunity presents itself to dive into a batch of home-made cookies or a pie, i am still 100% capable of going off the rails, but overall, i see myself as having developed a much better awareness of what i am eating and what effect it will have on me both short and long-term.

halfway through may and the scale STILL not budging; makes me wonder whether i am achieving much more than the most miniscule of calorie deficits. will stay the course until month-end and see what's what.
