I should try the allergy method! Thanks for the tip.
|
hmm, I think i'll use it too.
And the upside is - let's say if i use the can't have anything with milk in it - even if i'm tempted by something, I'll have to say no so as to not be caught in a lie. And having another motivation to stick to my goals isn't a bad thing. |
Hi Everyone!
Mind if I join? I'm new to the forums, and don't really "belong" anywhere yet! I have about 30 lbs left to lose. Was having a really tough time losing for a few months trying out different diets (low carb, low cal), and just switched back to South Beach. Finally seeing some positive results! Looking for a place to check in and feel like I'm not alone! |
Welcome LLCool 76 :)
Weekend is approaching -- this is my kryptonite, I'm always so tempted to eat out, drink alcohol and generally not do my normal workouts. I am going to try and take long walks each day (since we are supposed to have great weather) and to really control my drinking (I've already had 3 drinks this week... so I really shouldn't have any this weekend). Does anyone else feel like the weekends derail weight loss? |
it's the opposite for me. Long days at work suck my will power. I end up not exercising (since I get home at 9 some days). So the weekend is a time to fit in a long walk. And i can be more deliberate about food.
Good luck seizetheday - I'm sure you'll figure out a way to develop a weekend routine that works for you |
Weekends are definitely toughest for me! I definitely let go of my routine. I tend to eat pretty decent unless we have company and decide to get take-out (and God forbid I eat salad while everyone else is eating pizza!). The thing that tends to be my downfall is drinking. I drink vodka with seltzer water, but I know alcohol sugars tend to affect weight loss...
Overall, I'm trying to think of this as a lifestyle change rather than a diet, so I've been making lots of strides as far as being active and eating healthy the majority of the time, so I won't beat myself up over a couple drinks, I suppose :) |
Thanks, maddierep. Now that it's warm I think extra walking and time outdoors will help.
LLcool76 -- yes, drinking is seriously so problematic for me. I always plan on having 1-2 drinks on the weekends and end up having 3-4, not to mention that time with friends always ends up meaning eating out, or eating chips/ice cream/other junk. My best friend is pushing for us to have taco night and margaritas out tonight and I think I am going to suggest making them at home instead -- that way I think I can better control exactly how many calories I am eating, not to mention that big pitchers of margaritas make it hard to avoid having one! I will try and stick with tequila, seltzer water and lime juice (or the same with some other liquor) -- less sugar and I tend to drink them slower when they aren't so sweet. Hopefully she will go for it! |
Sieze the Day- How did taco night go? Did your friend agree to having it at home? That's a great substitute for a margarita - I really don't like anything too sweet, so I'll have to try that sometime!
We had my brother and his kiddos over, and ordered pizza. I decided that since I had a cauliflower crust in the pizza I would just make that for myself. I definitely need to start making and freezing those to have on hand - It was the perfect solution! I bought a new flavor of vodka (grapefruit) thinking maybe if I didn't like it so much I wouldn't drink as much. It turned out to be delicious and refreshing. So much for my plan!!! I definitely was mindful of how many I had last night, though. I have made too much progress this past week to undo it all in one night! My son has soccer practice this morning, so I'm definitely going to wear my sneakers and take a walk, rather than just sitting around chatting today! Hope everyone has a great weekend! :) |
Hi everyone, I wanted to join a group that was motivated but not obsessed. It is wonderful to get to an age where being healthy is better than super thin. I love my life too much to become one of those hungry angry, bitter women who keeps a mental log of every bite they put in their mouths...I know I use to be one!
Anyway, 30lbs to go and I can't say I haven't been here before ...but oh well here we go again. Have a great Saturday night everyone  |
Hey all- I have been posting in the Featherweight forum but at this point (post-partum) I actually have closer to 30 pounds to lose than 10 or so.
And I'm also very much into the non-stress, non-extreme dieting. I just believe in eating what you like, in moderate quantities, and staying active. |
Hi Ladies,
My week was meh; I broke my back in December, and I pulled it out earlier week, it is still fragile. So it was chair living for me for a few days...and because it made me so sad/angry, I of course soothed myself with food :( I don't dare to step on that scale... I'll wait a few days and see where my weight will settle. Let's hope it is just water weight, and that I did not do too much damage. So any for of exercise was out of the question. -- So maddening; when I finally feel like I am getting my mojo back, my body gives up. Well, the back feels almost back to normal, and I resumed my walking yesterday. Hopefully I will get to go to the gym tomorrow. Once I can move, my eating gets better as well. So  to new week. Plan for the week; 1) Follow 5:2 plan; lots of lean protein and veggies. Low carb. Fast days will be Tuesday and Friday. Not to exceed 1400 cals on the rest of the days (except on the splurge day). Hoping to shoot as close to 1200 cals as possible. 2) Walk 5-6 times this week; each walk 4.5 miles 3) Lift weights 3 times 4) No wine, except on Saturday night. 5) Saturday will be my splurge day; GF is coming to the city and we will definitely go out and eat, and I am sure we'll find a pub too. But even it being my splurge day; I will try to keep calories under 2200. Summer is getting closer, and I would love to (finally) fit into my pretty dresses and skirts. I have been buying nice things, but at "goal" size, 6... I need to lose about 20 pounds in order to be able to wear them. It is only April.... so there is still hope before those hot and sunny days make their appearance. I would hate to spend another summer chunky. Tired of hiding under big sun dresses. Today's plan: Food: B-fast: yougurt w/ fresh fruit and granola 300 cals Lunch: Tuscan potato/Italian sausage soup with kale 350 cals Dinner: Grilled tuna, quinoa, broccoli and side salad 400 cals Snacks: Carrots, peanut butter and celery. 100% fruit juice Popsicle. 250 cals Total 1350 cals Exercise: Walk 6 miles Weight: Did not weigh So what's you plan for the week? |
I would like to hang around here also :D LONG time 3FC'er, my highest weight (not counting pregnancies) was almost 180; I need to get honest and weigh myself for a proper and true ticker; I *think* I am closer to 160. I will do that tomorrow morning (promise!)
I like how I look at 145 and anything less than that is heaven for me. I am not a young chick (54) so I am also agreeable to the "motivated but not obsessed". Sum - I have followed your posts and admired you when you got down into the 130's! I do hang out in 2 other places, one with other motorcycle chicks  and the Depression forum. But hey we can have lots of friends here right :) I have *just* finished with my winter job, which was sucky, and filled with temptations; and I am now on a 3 week vacation :D (not going anywhere which is fine) so I have NO excuse not to plan meals, or work out. I have no problem with working out ( I do at-home stuff) it's the food that is my problem, I hate to feel hungry. BUt looking forward to checking in here now :) |
Sum I am sorry to hear of your back pain!! I hope it does get to 'normal' soon and I applaud your plan.

Thanks VermontMom! We went and bought one of those memory foam toppers for the bed, and today was the first morning that I did not wake up with a stiff back! Yay!
Weather is absolutely gorgeous over here in Boston. I will try to take advantage of it today! I drop my husband off to work each morning, and I saw this water front walking path; I did a little researching and there is a loop that is 7 miles long. I don't think we will do the whole 7 miles, but we go as far as my doggie is willing. She will be happy because it does not look like a very busy place and she can go off leash. Plan for today: Meals Bfast ~ yougurt and berry smoothie w/protein powder 275 cal Lunch ~ California wrap (2), carrots 250 cal Dinner ~ Tortilla soup w/cheese and sourcream, side salad w/dressing 500 cal Snacks ~ Popsicle, cucumbers and string cheese 150 cal Total ~ 1175 cals Exercise Ride the bike to the gym (2+ miles), lift for 30 min, walk 5-6 miles outdoors (about 90 min). Weight 154.2 :o |
Welcome Flappychappy, mottainai and VermontMom!
As usual I had another weekend setback. I am finding that with my weekend setbacks I am still losing a total of about 0.5 lbs a week, so I am not too upset in general, but feel like I would have better results if I could stay on track better -- I also feel crappy after my weekend junk food eating/drinking, so I really want to stop for that reason as well. In any case, back on track for the week :) |
