I wasn't terrible, but I wasn't great either. I'm really wanting to try more of a big weight training program. But the guys at the gym I go to are intimidating. There's never any girls there and they just look at every girl who walks by. It's rather frustrating because I want to give it a shot, but I don't want judging eyes. I'm debating driving to one of the ones further away but I feel like I shouldn't have to just to lift weights.

I know exactly what you mean sum38. I saw a picture of myself from my back and was shocked at my size. The thing is - in my head, i just downplay my weight. I think - I'm pretty ok, I'm not really thaaat much overweight. And when i see pictures i realise i'm lying to myself.

So have gained back 3 pounds because i have friends visiting and i've not stuck to my eating plan. I went back to it yesterday. Let's see what today holds. This is not new - I lose 2 or 3 pounds. I get really happy and i stop being careful. I know i have to look at this as a permanent change, but i keep stopping. Here's to trying again.

I had been finding it difficult to motivate myself for the past two weeks, but I finally found some motivation and this week has been awesome! My shorts are fitting more loosely, I have more energy, my muscles are toning up a bit, and it feels good to just stick to something I've told myself I want! It's SO, SO, SO hard to do it, and the willpower is the hardest things, but I am really hoping I can keep this up!

Hello all,
I would like to join you here if that's ok. I am aiming to lose another 12 to 18lbs. I have recently lost about 20lbs but I still have a ways to go. This past weekend was pretty ruff for me, I ate lots of junk food and I feel like crap today. I am really looking forward to getting back on track.

nickilaughs, just do it :) Pretty soon, you will be the one who is advising "new girls" how to use some of the machines. -- There are always people who felt just like you, and they are so willing to guide and help. I remember being one. -- You would be surprised how many of those girls themselves were intimidated at first. -- I kinda had same sort of shyness, just recently, when we joined our current gym in the new city we are living in. I was so used to my old gym and I knew exactly how to use the machines... but I just sat down, looked at the pictures and spied on other people how they were using the machines, and hopped on board :) -- Silly me did the ab machine wrong at first :D

I had a great week last week, this week not so much. Yesterday was our first hot day, and we celebrated it by making summer's first frozen strawberry margaritas... and I had too many of them. I did not step on scale this morning. Today I am determined staying OP.

I have kept up with my walks tho, and ventured out to the gym also. Scale has been stuck between 150.4-150.8... If I say OP the rest of the week, MAYBE I'll see below 150 by Friday.

I am doing lots of walking, in addition to my 5.5 mile daily walk. That is a nice thing about city. Like yesterday, I had a dental appointment. The office is about 2 miles from the apartment, and I walked there and back; easy 4 miles. Then I walked to the drycleaners and that came to 1.5-2 miles. Today, I will walk to the mall and back. I sure hope that these "extra" steps are going to pay off at some point. Being from Midwest, where I had to drive everywhere, this feels wonderful.

I wish everyone willpower! Think thin; think those flirty summer dresses that are calling your name :)

ShaMac Hi! I think we hung out at the 140's thread at some point.

kahaney, I love when my clothes fit better!! Congrats.

maddierep, it is just water weight; you'll pee it out in a few days :)

maddierep 05-05-2015 03:04 PM

thank you. and yay for summer dresses

Sum38 05-05-2015 06:26 PM

I went through my closet. I have 6 skirts that fit well, numerous tops and 6 dresses. No shorts, tho. I may go out and buy a pair or two. But I have 4 pairs of capri pants that are light weight. I think, I can work with these items.

I so wish I had the will power to drop 10 pounds in a month. By the time June rolled around, I would have million pieces to choose from.

But, today, was a good day; stayed OP all day! I need to celebrate that

I am also in a need of shoes. I have soooo many heels, but city life calls for comfortable but cute shoes. Can't wear my tennis shoes everywhere  So I shopped at Easy Spirit, and found a cute gladiator pair; goes well with skirts.

Well TOM surprised me nearly a week early; no wonder I was craving for junk on Monday!

And with TOM, I have extra 2.2 pounds of water weight on me. Plus it did not help that I kinda pigged out on Monday night, eve of the TOM... at least the cravings are gone now.

Shadow, my furbaby, and me took our 5.5 mile ~ 90 minute ~ walk early this morning. I will rest a bit and then bike to the gym and lift. I went to the gym on Saturday, and I am weak! I need to get into that lifting habit again! I must say though, I really loathe the weights. It does not matter how long I do it, I don't learn to love it.

Any other lifters here?

ShaMac 05-06-2015 01:41 PM

Hello Sum:wave:, yes we have hung out before, and here I am yet again fighting the 140's :(. I so wish I could wear shorts, I have the thighs that touch and the short just crawl with every step I take. I am working to tone my thighs but I remember shorts being a no go for me even when I was younger and smaller.

nickilaughs 05-06-2015 04:14 PM

Sum I got brave and lifted! There was only two older guy ps staring at me, so I stared back and they got the hint and went back to what they were doing. I had to get help on the leg press machine because I accidentally went down too far and couldn't figure out how to get it up. Other than that and the lat pull down it was all free weights. I did squats, lunges, dead lifts, chest press with two small barbells so no need for a spotter. And, bent over row, chest row and push ups. I think one other that I can't remember right now. I was sweating as much as an intense cardio training. My plan is to do that three days a week with two 20 minute HIT days in between. Just needed a change in my plan.
I never wear dresses but after finding this cute dress at express where the medium fit...I may have to change my mind. :)

Little update here! I just joined a UFC gym today! So that's boxing, kickboxing, etc! I LOVE IT! I went to two trial classes, and haven't worked out that hard since I was a competitive gymnast! You can basically FEEL the fat leaving your body as you punch the bags, hahah! That, plus Zumba, and my tap dancing classes should have me going pretty well here! I am doing pretty well sticking to my diet plan as well!
Overall, it's been a great couple of weeks!

I got off track :( but I am back and working on a new exercise plan and committing to a healthy diet. It's been a rough week, and I think I used that as an excuse -- but no more excuses. Eating crap and being lazy doesn't make me feel better.

kahaney 05-16-2015 12:41 PM

I've done loads of kickboxing and boxing this week so far! I am down to 144 pounds, and am very excited! I can't wait to get into the 130s! I haven't been in the 130s since my very first year of university in 2006!!!

kahaney 06-22-2015 06:25 PM

Well, this thread got super quiet, but I am out of the 140s, now, and I couldn't find a "get out of the 130's" thread...so I thought I'd try rebooting this thread a little bit!
