Far from being a role model, I routinely drink 2 beers a night. It doesn't seem to affect my weight that much (most of the immediate gain is water, gone the morning after) but you do need self-control to not do the things that often go with beer (junk food, chips etc.). If I drink and have a restuarant dinner then all bets are off. 2lb weight gain guaranteed. But I'd happily take my chances with beer and a salad and have lost weight so far on this.

I only drink the best. West Coast IPAs, approx 7% abv and I'm guessing 200 calories a pop. Like orange juice.

Pick your poison.

I had several beers & wines a few nights ago... And now I'm up 6lbs. Though I put that down to the takeaway I had when I was hungover. I feel so awful for it today! Now I remember why I don't eat that crap! There's no chance I put away about 25,000 calories in the past few days, so... I'm taking that blowout with the renewed sense of enthusiasm it's brought me

This thread is really helpful in a few ways. First, anytime folks can compare experience and help each other is a good thing. Second, it validates shared experience. Last, it really shows me how differently people's bodies behave! Up until just a couple of weeks ago, I drank beer every Friday and Saturday night. Not just a couple of beers, I drank at least a 6-pack. I gave it up because, well, that's really too much but primarily I didn't like the Monday beer bump up in my weight. But here's the thing, the most I ever bumped up was 2 pounds! Usually it was just a pound and I would lose that by Tuesday or Wednesday.

The only time I've ever gained significant weight like 6 to 8 pounds is when I was traveling and drinking free beer every night for 6 nights in a row. Again, though, it wasn't just 1 or 2 beers, it was more like 4 or 5.

Yes- beer causes me crazy water retention. I don't really like it, though, so I stick with vodka Haha

I can drink when I'm maintaining, but not when I'm trying lose weight. I'm not sure if I get a major beer bloat, but I have a hard time not eating everything in sight when I'm drinking.
