I heard a saying several years back that to be thin, one must "think yourself thin." I never really got that. Afterall, you can't just think yourself thin. About 6 months ago it clicked with me on what it actually implied. "Think yourself thin" doesn't mean to magically become thin just by thinking it. It means if you think about it, you can find a way to become thin. Hence, the busting your royal arse with excercise and snubbing your nose at that gooey and oh so delicious looking slice of cake. Six months ago, I started "thinking myself thin" and haven't stopped since. It is a long journey, but so worth it.
Today, when browsing my quotes, I found one that never really had any serious effect on me one way or another. I guess if I had thought on it, it would have made great sense, but given that I wasn't trying to overcome something huge, I let it just pass on by. However, reading it today, probably a decade after I last seen it, it had an impact on me and my thoughts. Today's Quote for me is:
The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.
William Faulkner
My obesity is the mountain. The pounds are the small stones. Pound by pound, ounce by ounce, I am removing this mountain of unhealthy burden. It is the small things that give us huge results.
This makes me think of
Emily Christensen. I am not sure if any of you know her story, but she was in a car accident several years back (two decades nearly.) She gained an insane amount of weight...and she was in a wheelchair. She managed to lose 100 pounds despite not being able to really move and having her body overheat with any activity. You can click the link to go to the news story...I can't seem to find anything else, but still pretty inspirational...she couldn't walk and managed to lose a substantial amount of weight. Makes me realize if she can do it, so can I!
Happy Thursday, and have a great OP day!
