  • Good Morning Ladies!

Another day of staying on Plan for me! Tuesday was a good day!

I am really trying hard and so far I have been doing great eating all the right things. The only problem I am having is getting started on an exercise program. That is my next goal now that I feel I am on track with the diet.

Bandit2: Welcome to our little group. I can totally understand the yoyoing with 10lbs back and forth. If only that was all we had to lose.... The weekends are usually my bad time to, but I am determined this time and you can do it to! We are here for you. One day at a time!!

Sheila: What is a Skinny Cow? I must be something that is not as good for you as fruit! It sounds like you have a system that works for you! I have just recently started journaling and have found it to be helpful too. Do you just right down what you eat for the day or do you write your moods, feelings, etc.? I also believe that drinking water, water, and more water is helping me too. How can you eat when you are full of water. Keep up the good work. We can do this together.

Where are the rest of my new friends? Okay, you know who you are.. come out of hiding..

Gotta run but will talk later.
    Hugs

  • Hi, ya'll
    Hi, everybody,
I am soo glad our group is growing!
I didn't post yesterday, since I had oral surgery! I am doing well today, all sutured up. Even with all that , I stayed on liquid protein shakes, milk, and kept my diet at protein 80, carbs 40.
Today, I am starting out with the liquids, warm salt water rinses,
maybe some eggdrop soup, or soft eggs., and pain meds!
Carol101, I used to swim 3xweek since my son was a competive swimmer, but since he has stopped that, I haven't been in a while. I plan to start again real soon.
    Hope to wrtie later,
Please anybody in the group feel free to email me any time.,
    [email protected].
I will try posting later when I'm feeling betterand especially to try to post daily. (Maybe my brain function will be better later, also!
    Good luck, Claudette
  • Oral surgery--ouch! I had a temporary crown put in last week and that was bad enough. Hope you're feeling better, Claudette.

Carol, glad you had another good day! It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Skinny Cow is fat-free and low-fat ice cream. They make ice cream sandwiches and fudge bars. Yum! I was only having one fudge bar a day, but then discovered the ice cream sandwiches. Although I'm allotting enough points for them, they certainly aren't as nutritious as a piece of fruit.

I just journal food, not emotions or moods. I've heard journaling emotions, particularly noting what you're feeling when you want to eat, is really good, but I just haven't gotten into doing that. I use fitday.com to journal and keep track of activties and other things. I also use it to see the caloric value of what I'm eating, although WW just uses the point system. I find it kind of interesting. If I wasn't into going to the meetings, I probably would just use fitday.com and count calories.

I saw a guy on TV the other day who helped Diane Sawyer, the newswoman, lose 25 lbs. It's hard to believe she weighed in at 151 lbs. Anyway, he was saying that you can eat a diet of chocolate only and still lose weight as long as you burn more calories than you consume. He did, of course, say that a chocolate diet wouldn't be nutritious, but his point was that the only way to lose weight is the old-fashioned way. He also was into resistance and strength training as a way to boost metabolism. It creates muscle, which is more active than any other tissue. It was pretty interesting. I've read other things about strength training, and hope to incorporate that into my schedule at some point. He also mentioned that people over 50 lose muscle at an incredible rate--yikes!

Hope everyone has a great day!
  • Sheila, I absolutely agree with the gentleman who pointed out that you must burn more calories than you consume in order to lose weight.

For myself I use an exchange program, specifically I use the Richard Simmons Foodmover which helps keep me in control.

Portion size had always been my biggest problem -- I like to eat. And of course I have a lifetime of bad eating habits to overcome. But we gotta keep trying, there is no other solution for us "oldies but goodies."

    And keep smiling - always.
  • Hi Ladies, this is my 3rd day of behaving myself, walking, watering (me) and monitoring food well. I weighed in today and was down 2.2 from last week but I'm sure a lot of that was water. I hadn't really seen much scale movement for a while.

Claudette, hope that mouth heals quickly. Not the best of times.

Never realized Diane Sawyer lost 25 pounds but I have been thinking lately how slim she is. I never realized Joan Lunden needed to lose any weight either until she did it.

Sheila, I also post on that other thread but not a whole lot lately. My best losing month so far was when I did the November points challenge. But I was sort of burned out afterwards - I get obsessive sometimes. (I did win November though.) Anyway, I sort of already know you.
  • I only have second to post right now, but will try to talk to you all later tonight. I had a late night mowing grass at my mom's after I got off work and then we visited for awhile. It takes 3 hours to mow their grass!!

Anyway, I have had 6 whole days staying OP now and today I am shooting for 1 whole week. I am so proud of myself. I haven't stayed OP for a whole week in soooo long!!!

Anyway, gotta run. Talk to you all later.

    Have a great Day!!!

    Hugs

    Carol
  • Way to go Carol for staying OP for a week. Lots of exercise with cutting that grass - good for you.

I was 4 Pts over yesterday so I have to behave myself today.

    Bye for now.
  • Mowing grass is hard work and great exercise!

I had the best restaurant experience last night. Restaurant eating is hard for me, and we went to a place I really love. I stayed away from the bread basket completely, ordered salad dressing on the side and did the fork tong thing. I ordered roasted garlic pasta (my favorite) and asked for a box to come with it. Before I ate any, I put half in the box.

I have no idea how many WW points I used, but I am really proud that I was able to deal with eating out so well.
  • Wow Sheila - good for you.
  • Did anyone see the Oprah show yesterday? Incredible stories of people losing over 100 pounds. One guy even lost 300 lbs., and none by surgical methods. You couldn't even match the before picture to the person who lost the weight. It was pretty incredible and very inspiring.
  • I was one of the Oprah watchers, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was real positive and encouraging. We can DO this, friends, we really can DO this.

I have increased my exercising a bit. Now that the weather is warmer I am walking in the neighborhood. How is everyone else doing?
  • Good Morning everyone..

Sheila: Great job on the eating out. We get so much food at a restaurant and that is why we overeat so much. You did the best thing. I have heard that is just the exact way to handle it. Box half right off the bat so your not tempted to eat it. I am so proud of you.

Bandit: Don't fret over going over a few points, as long as you watch it the next day, you will be fine. You can do this!!

Jo: I am so glad the weather is turning nicer too so I can walk outside. I am sure this will inspire us to do more.

I went to garage sales yesterday and walked around for 2 1/2 hours so I guess I got my exercise in for that day!!

I was really concerned I wouldn't be able to walk for more than 30 minutes. Now that I know my ankle will tolerate walking, I am definately going to do more of it. Now that I think I have the eating under control, it is definately time to add the exercise. Plus I am drinking tons of water. That is always a plus.

I was gone so much yesterday that now I have tons of work to do around home today so I better get busy.

    Have a great day Ladies!

  • Is everyone remembering to stay active. I don't necessarily mean slaving away at the gym for hours and hours.

But are we remembering to park at the end of the parking lot and walk to the store instead of finding the closest parking spot?

Are we remembering to take the stairs instead of the elevator whenever we can?

Are we remembering to stretch those muscles to help keep them limber?

We can't avoid growing older, but I figure we can do all we can to keep ourselves healthy.

And let's all keep smiling -
  • Hi everyone:

Been doing my walking tape - trying to do 2 miles per day.

Hope everyone else is doing good.
  • It has been a great day!! I weighed in this morning and I lost 7 lbs in the last 10 days!!1 It has been so long since I had motivation to stay on any plan for longer than 2 days.. I am beside myself with happiness.

I am going to add walking the treadmill tonight. I finally finished by physical therapy on my ankle, so as long as I take it easy, I should be fine. Slow and easy...

JoJoJo: you are so upbeat. I love it!!! Just keep on moving ladies!

Good for you Bandit. Keep on walking!!!
