Usually someone else finishes them off before later ever comes.
There was a study published recently that has been quoted quite frequently lately that stated that subjects who told themselves they could have a treat "later" but didn't specify a time frame had more success and felt less deprived than those subjects who simply said "I can't have that". Evidently it was less of an exercise in willpower, which studies also suggest has a shelf life on it.

Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels - and NOT in a Kate Moss, anorexic way - I mean this in the sense that you are trying to lose weight for your reasons and you are probably working hard to do so, is eating that fatty cupcake in 2 min. really worth derailing all your working for?? NO!

When you reach your goal you can think back and realize it's b/c of hard work and hard decisions like saying no to cupcakes

Thanks for all the responses!! I did not eat the cupcake I went into another room and told myself they aren't mine. Then I kept trying to convince myself one wouldn't hurt me, and I then I said later...until later came and I forgot

Me:1
Cupcake:0

I WIN!

Cupcakes have been my enemy here lately, but I've had the power to say no. Since it's the end of the semester, everyone keeps having shindigs and making cupcakes for them and this conversation happens every time:

Person: *shoves cupcakes in my face* LOOK! I MADE CUPCAKES! EAT ONE!
Me: No, I'm at my calorie limit for today, I can't have one right now.
Person: But I made them!
Me: I know, and they look delicious, but I really don't need to eat that.
Person: You can have one every now and then!

Eventually they leave me alone, but it is rather frustrating. I'd love to have a cupcake, but I know that if I were to say yes to every single cupcake offered to me, I would not be where I am today. I do feel bad having to blatantly tell them no like that, but sometiems people don't wanna listen.

OMG that rings so true! I'd rather eat well and be lazy than have to do extra work later on. LOL!

I try to remind myself that I know what it tastes like and that I can probably have it again any time I want if I pass on it this time. Most of the time it works.
