Oh yum that sounds good! I like to "save up" for meals like that. I spent lots of years in the restaurant biz creating yummy concoctions and like to splurge on a restaurant meal once in a while. There's something about food you don't have to cook yourself, or maybe I just don't use heavy cream and in my own home..
Decadence definitely has it's place on the palate. I've proven to myself via the scale that I just can't eat like that every day, especially since I am not on my feet making food for many hours making it to burn those calories off. Once in a while though, no cooking or dishes is worth the calorie splurge, particularly on a date night. I hope you guys have a great time and enjoy every morsel of your rare treat!

When we get there... who knows when it will happen. We've been saying we should do it for a month and it still hasn't happened. We live walked distance (like not quite a mile) from this restaurant, so we will walk there and not have to worry about how much wine we drank either. We will TRULY enjoy when we go, but getting there is never the easy part! We rarely get more than one date a year - this would make #2 (not since October). Pretty pathetic, huh?

I'm a gourmet cook and avid baker - a big part of the reason I was so busy during the holidays - I had orders for school, for auctions, etc to fill as well as stuff for home.

You would think standing on your feet and working in the kitchen burns a lot of calories, right? I don't think it does. Maybe in a busy commercial kitchen where you have to walk a lot from fridge to stove to prep sink, but in a modern kitchen - not so much.

We never, ever go out to eat - like twice a year, so we will enjoy when we go. I don't even order pizza in any more - but make it myself. So, this will be a treat. The Melting Pot isn't all about great food - it's pretty simple food, but it's great date night stuff as it takes a long time and it's fun.

Yeah I was quite thin when I worked in a busy restaurant. Gosh, I don't want to think what would happen if I started whipping up those things in my own home, just the quality checks alone would probably do me in...It's taken 6-8 months to perfect my banana bread recipe, thank goodness people I know love it...being a great cook is a double-edged sword!

berryblondeboys, you have done so great..I think you were honest and open about your feelings. I find that I am in control most of the time, but we all have weak moments due to stress, hormones, tiredness, whatever. And like to fantasize about stuff. You have shown that you know what to do and can continue

I think the comment about not being committed is in violation of 3FC's Agreeing to Disagree Policy ("If you wish to support another member, please answer questions in a factual, friendly manner to the best of your ability, but do not argue or critique other’s choices or plans unless specifically requested to do so. There are some days where I don't feel hunger, but most days I am hungry and almost always right before going to bed.
I know that feeling. And it's always at night over here too! Hang in there. It will pass.

I am in the same boat! It's almost like I've lost my innocence about food and since I pay more attention to my body , i know how eating large quantities might make me feel. But that doesn't mean I've lost my desire to eat with abandon. More like a longing or nostalgia as somebody said...

You k ow what partof the problem was? So didn't realize I had undere eaten my calories by 250. I thought I was at or around 1450 and on a day I don't excise I really, really don't like to go of that, but last night I realized that I was only at 1200. No wonder I was hungry and dreaming about morer food! I haven't eaten. Little as 1200 calories since last summer when it was super hot and I just wanted salads and stuff.

Oh wow. No wonder your body wanted more calories! That's a small meal or hefty snack you were missing.

melissa, I always look for your threads because you bring so much REALITY to the table! No sugar-coating, just open and honest about what a huge, amazing weight-loss project looks like. I hope you'll start browsing the threads over in Maintainers soon - I need another foodie over there!

I miss great big mouthfuls of food, and seconds and thirds at dinner. It's hard. We've picked the "hard" of good choices and health. What is an outstanding victory, in my eyes, is that you got back on track so well after the holidays. You are truly a rare gem!

When you are hungry going to bed do you see a loss on the scale in the a.m.? I know that my body is always trying to trick me into eating more when I don't need to. We would be able to survive in a famine, while the skinny ones would not.

Wow, that was so incredibly nice of you to go out of your way to say. Thank you, really.

And man, I can't wait to join the maintainers as I'm getting tired of slogging along losing. I'll keep doing it until I need to, but man it will feel good to get onto the next and last stage of all of this.

I know! I don't know how in the world I missed that! I think I thought dinner was going to be more calorie dense than it was, but when I put that in and felt hungry, I should have had an apple or a couple cheese sticks or something, but oh well... At least I didn't go whacko crazy and just toughed it out.
