Default Could this be a bad scale?

Up until a few days ago, I only ever weighed myself at school and I know that scale is right. At home I'm weighing in at 158.2 but I'm not sure if I should believe it.

Because the scale is right there - damn it! - I've weighed myself several times. I've come down from 161.6 to 158.2. Of course, this could be a strange fluctuation but I wasn't expecting to fall beneath 160 while here. My Mom has been feeding me all sorts of bad stuff so I figured I'd, at best, hang out between 162 and 160.

I've worked out 3 times so I hit the doctor recommended amount of exercise but still...muffins, doughnuts, mashed potatoes...is it possible that the scale is right and those foods just, I dunno...shook my body up a bit? I tried to eat them in moderation so it's not like I totally pigged out but this week was way out of the ordinary for me.

I don't know anything about scales, I have no idea how to check this one at all.

Until I know, my ticker stays at 160! >.<

it's absolutely possible to eat more and lose weight.

if you're exercising hard 3x a week, your BMR may have snuck up while you weren't looking.

but it's a sad fact that not all scales are created equal: at my dr's office, the beige scale said i was 221-1/2, the black one said 223. i asked the dr which one was more accurate and he said "meh - i never liked the black one".

you might want to skip weighing yourself until you're back home.

Scales will always vary by a few pounds. I know that if I step on the one upstairs (I always always always use the one downstairs next to my bedroom) that my weight will be slightly different. That's why it is recommended you only go by one scale.

But in answer to your food question, yes the different foods can cause both weight gain and weight loss. Usually it is just temporary though and your numbers even out to what they were after a few days.

Usually, my scale at home and the scale in the nurse's office at school syncs up, but my Wii weighs me at about 3.5-4lbs less than what those other two scales weigh me at. You can probably guess which one I go with, lol. I do know that regardless, I'm still losing roughly the same amount of weight (sort of) so it doesn't matter.

This morning, the bathroom scale settled at 230.5, on Monday it said 234.5. The Wii said 226.2; Monday it said 229.3. So, a 4lb loss from the bathroom, a 3lbs loss from the Wii. You know what will really make me happy? When all 3 scales I weigh on (I use 3 of them because the curiosity kills me, lol) are saying I'm in the 220s. But, I've had that happen too -- eat too much and then wake up to a loss. My thing is my inches aren't really going down. So frustrating!
