And then there's salsa and that other stuff....con something or other...wish i could remember.....like a cheese sauce....very good together over vegetables.
Carree - I've tried laughing cow swiss which is lite, and comes in little wedges. It is real good spread on Triscut crackers, and would probably be equally good in salsa. What is the con stuff? If you think of it, let me know okay?
I have to tell you guys the saga of the pantyhose which happened to me today, and reinforces my desire to lose weight..You'll get a good laugh out of the image. We had an out-of-town wedding today, and my last pair of pantyhose in the drawer was some that are way too small now, but I was saving them for when they would fit again. Well, since I didn't have any others, not even any knee-hi's, I squeezed my big buns in them, and although I could barely breath, I knew I had to have on hose under my dress slacks... So, we're on the highway, and I am very uncomfortable and decide that as soon as we get to the church, I'm going to the bathroom to see if maybe they are twisted, or something... I mean, I didn't think I had gained THAT much weight since I bought them. We arrived with plenty of time to spare before the ceremony, so I signed the book and made a bee-line for the potty. Girls, I was so distressed when I got my first glimpse of this bathroom. It was barely big enough for Calista Flockheart - I mean I could barely turn around. Aftrer I checked out the situation, it became clear that the hose were not twisted, just TIGHT. I knew I could not go through the whole day like that, so I searched my purse for some nail scissors or something sharp to give me a little relief. Well, Ladies, I ended up using a spare car key - yes a car key - and hacked away at the waistband of those suckers til it split, then made about a 6" incision down the seam in front! The refief was immediate. But all during the ceremony, all I could think of was - how did I get to the point of this????? So if I start to falter on this weight loss journey, will somebody please, oh please remind me of the pantyhose?
Saw it in Stop & Shop yesterday. It is sold in the same place as the salsa in a jar, and it's like a spicy cheese sauce.
Jana, may the panty hose incident stay with you the next time you want to eat "just a little bit more". Sometimes it's those turning points, ever so private, that serve as a wake-up call. WE DESERVE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!
Hi Carree, I guess it's just you and me here... where is everyone??
It has been snowing like crazy here in Indiana and is beginning to sleet. Watch out - I'm throwing a snowball right at you ---O---
Gotcha!
I am down another pound this week, and made the 1st of my 10 pound goals. Yay!! Has anyone experimented with the WW 10 can soup? I use only the free veggies I like, leave out the smoked sausage, and add 3/4 cup of uncooked macaroni to the whole pot of 6 servings, and have a really good 1 1/2 cup dish for 1 point. Sure is tasty on these cold February days.
Hi girls, sorry I haven't been around much. As of last Thursday, we are grandparents for the 5th time. Needless to say I haven't been online very much in the last few days.
Well, I just wanted to say hello. I'll write more later.
Hi ladies. Jana invited me to join this wonderful support group. So here I am, my name is Julie and I am a SAHM with 2 beautiful children in New Hampshire. My DS is 3 1/2 and my DD is 7 months. I have struggled with weight issues my whole life and am determined to get it off and keep it off now that we are finished having babies!! I will post more later but it is time to hit the laundry pile. Take care and talk to you all later.
First of all - Julie Welcome to our little corner of 3fc!! I can surely understand the ins and outs of your day, since I have been a SAHM for 16 years, ever since I was carrying the last baby. She will be 16 in March. I refer to myself as a Domestic Goddess for a good laugh. Please post often!
Ruth - Congrats on the new grandbaby - but please give details!! Hope mom and little one are both just fine. Don't you just love the smell of a newborn? How're classes going?
Carree - 10 can soup is a low point soup posted on the WW site - and includes 10 total cans of stuff, like carrots, diced tomato, potatoes, corn, broth, green beans, zuchinni, with Italian seasonings and chopped lite smoked sausage added. Here's my version:
1 large (46 oz) can fat free chicken broth
1 can undrained green beans (prefer kitchen sliced)
1 can undrained carrots
1 can undrained whole tomatoes, chopped slightly
3/4 cup uncooked macaroni
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
Combine all and bring to a boil, simmer til macaroni is tender.
This is 1 point per each 1 1/2 cup serving. Angelhair cabbage is especially good in this, too, it it does a number on me. I adjusted it to suit my own tastes and like to eat it really really hot so it takes awhile to consume.
BTW, I posted another thread called "What do you like best about Yourself" and invite all of you to post on it. I would love to see your answers...
So glad to have you here! I was a SAHM for 13 years, and now that my children are grown and in their 20's, believe me, it was worth every minute I stayed at home with them.
What you are doing is planting seeds, very good quality seeds that you will harvest, some sooner, some later. I have never regretted it. And, oh, how very fast the time goes by!
Jana: Thanks for the soup recipe. I think I will try it soon. Sure have the weather for it.
Cmon ladies. It's cold with snow on the ground now, but those bright, shiny, out-of- the house weekends will be here sooner than we think!
Julie, where in NH? I'm in VT, so we are neighbours. *grin*
Welcome to the group!
I spent some of my tax refund and bought a 6 mo membership in a gym for my youngest and myself...I'm shooting for going at least 3 times a week. So far I'm on track. I lift weights for about 30 min, and then head upstairs to do cardio for at least 30 minutes. I started by taking a baseline set of measurements (my waist is 44 inches. ) and my weight...I'll remeasure and reweigh weekly.
I can sympathize about panty-hose...a few years back I had to give a presentation of my research to about 50 scientists. I was dressed in a suit-dress, and of course had on panty-hose. Well, as I was walking around the front of the room using my overheads and molecular model, my pantyhose started to roll down--taking my undies with them! I was stuck walking back and forth with my knees pinched together, trying to not look like my knees where pinched together and thinking what on earth I would do if they went ALL the way down. I had mental pictures of stepping out of them and keeping on with my talk. *lol* I made it through the talk alright andbeat a hasty retreat to the ladies room to remove those blasted hose--talk about the stress of public speaking! The other day I needed hose for a funeral and discovered that the only pair in MY drawer actually belonged to my15 year old (who weighs in at 100 lbs)...needless to say, I went bare-legged to the funeral.
Carree - hope you like the soup. Another thing that has been helping me is ff ranch dressing and salsa mixed together for a veggie dip, or topping for baked potato. Yum!
Kat - Your pantyhose story is as vivid as mine! Talk about getting your pantyhose in a wad... I am so proud of you for joining the gym. It takes a real dedication to do that, and keep it up. But I have known you long enough to know you can do it - you have a determined streak in you.
One of the twins said Da Da for the first time yesterday. Too bad it wasn't "Grandma".
Carree - Your babies are just too cute!! What are their names?
We have 3 dogs - Rosie, Molly and Chloe. But they think they are people, not d-o-g-s.
Julie - Hope you come back soon - we would like to know more about you.
I am going to town today to have lunch with a friend, and this evening DH and I are having a quiet, romantic dinner at home. I love being with my Valentine!
