You're off to a pretty good start. Even just by eliminating two 12 oz cans of coke/day, that's a calorie savings that adds up to a pound every 11 days. (It doesn't quite work that way -- 3500 cals / pound is just an estimate -- but it's close enough.)
Basically, any diet that creates a caloric deficit (calories consumed minus calories burned through body function, exercise, and daily life) and that you can stick to over the long haul will work, at your stage. Many novice dieters, especially women, cut protein and fat too much and rely too much on refined carbs and "diet" foods, but if you're eating more turkey and veggies and less junk, you're doing well.
Good luck!
