I like that!

I don't have any right now. I'm struggling big time. I have been trying to lose weight for almost 2 months and have only lost 1lb. But I keep plugging, trying different things and not give up.

Hang in there - you don't have a ton to lose so it will come off slower.
Its frustrating but you will get to your goal! I was at a plateau for 6
months - I broke it, but by going in the wrong direction LOL!! You have
to remember that our bodies were designed to sustain us in a nomadic
lifestyle - it does not easily give up any extra weight because it thinks
there might be a famine down the road.

One that inspired me to make a one year commitment was:

"A year from now you'll be glad you started today." Truly this has most inspired me.

That's a great one, especially for when you're just starting - the first day is the hardest!!

I have a few mantras that I keep in mind...

- Nothing tastes as good as thin feels (odonnela beat me to it ).

- Food is fuel, not fun or friendship.

- Don't give up what you want most for what you want now.

- Not really a mantra per se, but I like to remind myself that the satisfaction I will derive from eating something just because it sounds tasty is not as great as the satisfaction I will derive from being proud of my self-control when I decide that I don't need to eat it.

I am joyfully wearing a size 10.
I am effortlessly losing 3 pounds a week every week
I look at old pics and realize I had gotten out of control. I love looking in the mirror at the me now imagining where I'm going to be...a size 10.

Each day I remind myself that my fat version ate my thin version and it took A LOT of hard work to get that thin girl out of the big girl's belly. Needless to say, whoever said that a skinny girl can't kick a big girl's butt never duked it out with one!

Carter's cracked me right up!! LOVE IT!!! Soooo something I would say too!! LOL!!

I guess the one I'm trying to live by is "What steps are you going to take TODAY to ensure you have a successful weigh in on Tuesday?" It seems to help that I'm focussed on a smaller time frame. When I think of how far I have to go - its overwhelming!!

How did you get to the point that you count an hour a day on the treadmill as "effortlessly" ? I 've got to get there!

I like to tell myself that today is the hardest it will ever be. If I can make it through today (or through this workout) then tomorrow will be a hair easier... and the next day will be a hair easier than that. If I can get through today, then I am capable of finishing this journey.

Also, I am learning to tell myself that I don't have to see HOW FAST I can lose weight... I just need to lose it. If it takes five years instead of one... so be it... as long as it gets done. (not that I want it to take that long - but I hope you know what I am getting at)

And I tell myself that I don't have to be 100% perfect... but I do have to push myself to be a little better each day.

AND sometimes... I have to use Carter's mantra! Lol!

"never again"

obese BMI? never again
10,000 calorie days? never again
a day without some sort of exercise? never again
plus size clothes? never again
disliking myself because of the way I look? never again
feeling defeated? never again
saying I can't? never again

and on... and on...

Mine isn't really specifically for weight loss, it's for everything: "I am who I chose to be."

I often say to myself that every pound on the scale feels better on the way down than on the way up.

Plan, plan and plan some more.

I am wonderful - working on being even better.

I don't have a mantra, but I tell myself that the time will pass anyway. Better to spend it losing weight, than look back a year from now when I'm heavier, or have maintained, and think of all the weight I could have lost if I'd just not given up.

It feels good to be alive!
Good health is something that you EARN
My body deserves premium fuel!

Not necessarily mantras but things I keep in mind
