Default Why can't I pull myself outta this funk?

I've been slacking off with my exercising and have been eating naughty for the last 6 weeks. I can no longer handle it. I need to restart all over again and for some reason it has been extremely hard to do so. I hit my 70lb mark last month and since then I haven't been motivated. I've gotten too comfortable, even though I still have a long way to go. How can I pull myself through this? I'm still unhappy with the way I look, and I know that should motivate me to go out there and continue it all but I'm just in this funk right now. I dont know how to get myself out. I really wanted to lose a certain amount of weight by the time I hit my vacation in Sept but I barely lost 5lbs. It makes me so angry. I really need a workout partner. Someone who's gonna hold me accountable and someone who will get me moving when I just want to be lazy. I NEED HELP!!!!!!!! ARGH!!!!!!

Hi Sarcruze!

I know just how you feel - so here is a big hug!

I started WW only on July 1 and I'm already in a funk! I have such a long way to go that I feel like I'm never going to get to goal.

But then I looked at your ticker and saw how well you have done!!!!! You are an inspiration to me!!!! I can't wait to lose 70 lbs.!

For right now, can you just tell yourself to maintain until you can get back your motivation? Don't put a lot of pressure on yourself - just tell yourself that you took a little vacation from your program and that you will get back on it .

I lost 50 lbs. on WW several years ago, and I let myself get into such a funk that I gained back 75 lbs.!

Hang in there - and keep going. I am here to cheer you on!

I think these periods of funk are common, so don't think you're alone.

I recommend setting a couple of simple, easier to reach goals to get yourself back into the groove. Don't look at the big picture, sometimes the big picture is so overwhelming it is demotivating.

Focus on the short term: and pick an easy target like "tomorrow I will work out". That's all it takes to be successful, just one work out tomorrow. I think once you get a few near-term successes you'll find yourself back on the roll! You've already accomplished SO MUCH, so it is clear you know how to do it!

I've been there. all I can say is try to atleast maintain, and even maintain some level of fitness you have gained. Nothing feels worse than regaining weight you worked so hard to lose, and really if you gain 5 pounds it will soon add up to 20, 30+ pounds, then you realize you have to relose those pounds when you could of been going for your original goal weight. If you slack off on exercising, it is hard to start back up and it feels terrible when you realize you lost some strength. How about a check in that will hold you accountable? Hang in there!
