and yes your right about the right arm being stronger because your right handed. have you seen Nadal's serving arm- its so much more ripped than his other arm my brother always shows me his forearm, its bigger than his left arm (he plays tennis alot). its a very common biological phenomenon. i know my right arm is stronger too than my left arm. its because you use it more so the muscles gets stronger. i love your enthusiasm with the workout weights! way to go :cheer3: |
Aw, thanks, Echo! I love my enthusiasm, too. I'd forgotten how much I loved exercising. When I lost 20 lbs a few years ago (which I have since gained back with interest), I lived a few blocks from the gym I used. I would get such a kick out of walking to the gym, working out for an hour or so, and then walking home. I don't have the convenience of walking to a gym anymore... I live out in the sticks now (which I love). So I've had to modify and start lifting weights at home. But I still love doing it. I'm all like rawr! Workout time! And then afterward, I just wanna dance around and be like :carrot:! Am I a dork? Yes, yes I am.
But, seriously, working out just puts me in a great mood. I just wish I'd learned that earlier in my life, yah know? In high school I was far to embarrassed and afraid of being mocked to use the weight room. Sigh. |
Garnet - you're so cute when you talk about your workouts. :)
Echo - way to go today! I like a few of Buble's songs, but he's not publicized very much so I don't get to find out about his new ones. He does have an AMAZING voice though. :) Ugh, I didn't do the 30DS today. I looked at the first 5 minutes and felt really sleepy after my walk today. I took 1 hour to walk 3.25 miles and it made me sore AGAIN. Man, I can't believe just 1 month of ignoring my walks has made it this difficult?? Hm. I gained a lb this morning but I expected it from the walk and jog yesterday. I'm sure I'll be up another lb or the same weight tomorrow morning since I'm sore today. My plan tomorrow is to do 30DS first thing in the morning and go for my walk in the afternoon. Let's see how that goes. :) Today's confessions: Breffix - 1 banana, 1 apple Snack - 2 slices multigrain bread, 1 tbsp hummus, teensy sprinkle of feta cheese, handful of veggie chips (and I only stuck to a handful!!) Lunch - turkey sandwich with blue corn tortilla chips (ate out at a deli) Dinner - 1 cup cooked white rice, 1/2 cup plain NF yogurt, 1/2 cup chickpea curry, 1/2 cup roasted bell peppers and potatoes Dessert - 1/2 cup sheera. Total cals: 1812. Slightly above my range of 1600 - 1800. My exercise + BMR = 1927, so there's a deficit in there, woohoo!! :D Echo - sheera is a common Indian dessert for me. It's semolina (finer version of couscous) that's toasted in ghee with nuts, ground cardamom, raisins and milk mixed in. The real stuff is made with tons of ghee, but I hate the smell so I only use a couple of tablespoons (also to cut down on the calories). Anyway, it's divine and SO easy to make. :D That's a bad thing where I'm concerned, hehe. I only make it once every 2 months so it's not THAT bad. Definitely better than chocolate cake. :p I'm feeling hungry even though I made an effort to eat slowly. Grrr. This is the one major CON of exercise for me. It takes me days to overcome this feeling of hunger. I'm really hoping to see a loss tomorrow. *fingers crossed* |
Hehehehe. Don't worry, Sunni, we all have our little vices when it comes to food. And putting two months between it is a good way to go. I'm glad I make you giggle. Get to know me better and you'll learn I'm pretty much a dork when I talk about just about everything. It is me and I love me that way.
At the moment, I am very tempted to do another 35 minute workout. I'm fighting it, though. I think doing another full 35 minutes of the workout from this morning might be my arms would be more than they can handle just yet. Maybe I'll go poke through and see what else I have... Or maybe just cut and paste the workout (only in today's world) so that I can get a bit more exercise in without overworking myself. Or due the full 35 minutes but drop the weights when I feel my arms at that I can't hold these any more point. Herm. The options, the options. By the way, your pumpkin pie ticker is taunting me. I loooove pumpkin. |
My confessions for today:
B: 1/2 cup plain oatmeal L: 1 piece whole wheat toast with 1/2 tbsp raspberry jam, 2 pieces morningstar bacon, pomegranate nonfat greek yogurt (5.3 oz container), 1/2 cup homemade apple crisp (I baked a lot today and this was the only thing that came out good : ( ) S: 1 small piece brie (a sample from the grocery store, so I didn't measure it) D: 1 faux sausage cooked in a tsp of olive oil, 1 cup green beans, 1/2 cup homemade vegetarian stuffing S: frozen chocolate banana (160 cals and so good!) E: 45 minutes on the treadmill and free weights I definitely had a pretty bad sweet tooth today, but I stayed at 1550 calories for the day, so I didn't do too bad. It's great to see everyone else on track! |
Walked around on breaks at work. Walked a bit at home too. Came it at a little over 1,200 calories. I am going to bed soon and will just be drinking water tonight.
brunch at work: scrambled eggs 1/2 cup diced baked potatoes 2 biscuits with coupe tbsp gravy 2 cups FF milk coffee with creamer pear water small salad with RF ranch several carrot and celery sticks with 1/8 cup RF ranch 1/2 cup fruit cocktail in light syrup |
Just wanted to check in with my weekly weigh in number - I'm down 3.8 pounds this week to 275.3! Only 1.3 pounds left to meet my Halloween goal.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day! I'll check back in later with my confessions. |
My exercise today wasn't so great; I only ran for 10 minutes but I powerwalked for 20 so it wasn't a complete waste. And I walked a lot of stairs today(Montmartre, oy vey!). I got really hungry this afternoon and ate a mini granola bar, an apple, and a little piece of baguette bread. A little more than I would like, so I'll have to be careful for dinner.
Off to do my ab exercises for the day! |
Week one has been a success. I weighed in at 227 lbs. I had to set off and on and off and on and off and on because I was so surprised. But every time, it read the same number. So. Week one, -3 lbs and -.51 BMI. It's amazing how three little pounds can impact one's BMI, apparently.
I've got my fingers crossed that today goes okay. I drank 67.6 ounces of water yesterday and I hope to match it today. I'm going to get together with a friend this afternoon. We'll probably be eating out and I'm hoping I can talk her into something relatively healthy. Something like Subway would do better than the Denny's or IHOP I have a feeling she'll be craving. But IHOP would blow my progress completely. They have stuffed french toast. It's heaven but one plate is like 1200 calories. T_T I'd really like to work out today, I had planned to give myself the ability to take today as a rest day in case we did decide to get together, but I don't really want to rest. I don't want to weight until this evening to workout though, either. Meh. All that means is that I need to kick my butt into gear a little earlier today and work out before my normal time. Which I can do. No problem. Um. I suppose I should stop writing and go do that. |
hey everyone! nice to see the board busy with lots of confessions!
i just got TOM today! so that explains the poundage gain i saw on sunday! and also why i've been craving lamb and have generally been a hungry monster. from a biological standpoint your metabolism does slightly increase just before you get your period. not enough unfortunately to offset any bad eating i want to do hehe  i'm making BBQ chicken in a crock pot today!! hehe its been slow cooking for 8 hours. i removed all the visible fat from the chicken took me ages lol. sprinkled it with garlic salt and black pepper and cayenne pepper.and then smothered the chicken with BBQ sauce and and threw in big chunky round onion rings. hope it turns out well. saw the recipe on a website. and it looked yummy. although i'm not hungry now , that always happens to me, whenever i get my TOM i lose my apetite, i'm always a hungry monster before i actually get my period. weird huh. hopefully will have an apetite by the time its done but im excited about using a crock pot for the first time hehe its one of those old ceramic ones. i really like it :) gonna try to find recipes to make other stuff in it. its gonna be my new thing haha Garnet- that's so awesome that you're so excited about working out ! and WAY to go on a 3lb loss for week 1 , that is EXCELLENT! :celebrate: :bravo: wow stuffed french toast. yummy! i love french toast, but whoa 1200 calories! omg!!! thats like my calorie intake for the day. what do they stuff the french toast with ? whats inside the french toast? im curious now hehe --- Sunni i had some black forest cake the other day hehe i kept dreaming of chocoalte cake but didnt have in the house so settled for blackforest gateua instead. now i know why i've been craving it cause of TOM! thanks for explaining what sheera is! and thanks so much for your encouragement, and awesome, you like Michael Buble too! :-) way to go on the 3.25 mile walk! :bravo: way to go Emily on the 1550 calorie day! :cheer: and congratulations on losing 3.8lbs!! thats excellent!! :celebrate: Hydra - wow 1200 calorie day. well done! :cheer2: Peachy - 30 minutes of exercise is good ! well done :cheer3: Hey Angela, hope you're well and your nephew is recovering well. |
Echo, I actually didn't even get that right. Though 1200 might be the calories for the plate that just comes with the two stuffed french toasts rather this one: Cinnamon raisin french toast stuffed with sweet cream cheese filling, topped with cool strawberry or your choice with whipped topping. Served with 2 eggs, hash browns, 2 bacon strips, or 2 sausage links. Serving Size: 1; Calories: 1476, Total Fat: 76.2g, Carbs: 173.1g, Protein: 29.1g .
I'm not big on the hashbrowns that places like IHOP and Denny's make, though. They always have one crispy side on top and then the the rest is still really soft and squishy. It's just weird. Unless you mix it with the eggs, the squishy side is kinda blah. Point is, there is another plate (it's not on the menu) that has just two stuffed French Toasts. That's what I would normally get. In my defense - not that I need it because I haven't had it in months - I rarely can finish both. One would always come home with me. But still. That's like 600-700 calories. XD I can never seem to finish a full plate and restaurants, though. Unless it's a lunch plate or a kid's plate at places like Applebee's. But that's because they're half the size of your normal plate. In other news, just finished my workout for the day. So that gives me a nice positive outlook. Yay! I might do some more work this evening if I'm in the mood. Though, if Kelly and I go walking around the mall or grocery shopping, then I might just call it good. My arms. Poor babies. They're not in pain, but they started to tire out a lot faster today compared to yesterday. It was their second day with the weights, though. All in all, I think today is going to be another good day. ^^ |
I was craving chinese last night- so i got all fresh stuff from the farmers market and made my own cashew chicken and it was awesome! yay!
|

Hey all!! I'm back to confess.
Today went well calorie-wise. I thought I was going to overdo it for sure, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be, woohoo!! Breffix - 1 cup skim milk + 1 tbsp cocoa powder, omelette (1 whole egg, 1 egg white with salt, pepper, dried basil and oregano, 1/2 tsp oil) in a flour tortilla 312 Snack - 5 medium olives, lotsa chips (:o) 436 Lunch - Frozen pizza (3 out of 4 slices, I wasn't hungry, obviously because of the chips) 325 Snack - 1 tbsp sheera, 1 banana 160 Dinner - 1 cup cooked white rice, 1 cup chicken jalfrezi, 1/2 cup yogurt 424 Total for the day: 1657. My fitday says 1700, so I'm off on something. Oh well. Anyway, I'm well within my range. I might just spring for an apple in a little bit if I get hungry. I'm already starting to feel peckish. Exercise: 3.4 mile walk brisk!! Lovely weather. I wore a t-shirt under a long-sleeved t-shirt and that was too hot for me. Love it when it's sunny but crisp. :D Attempted 30DS. Got through the warm-up and decided I'd rather have dinner. :p |
