I wonder if the study factored in parenting. I mean, the kids who couldn't or didn't resist may have been the ones with no discipline or structure at home and maybe not so much affection either, vs other kids who had regular schedules, unconditional love and were expected to behave (within reason for 4-year olds). That would certainly make for dramatic differences by the time the cohorts reached high school.
