The one caution I would make is not to starve yourself during the day and then gorge in one meal at night. (As in skipping breakfast and lunch) You need to eat something to fuel your metabolism.

I agree there is nothing WRONG with eating that way. I was eating that way for a long time because in my mind I would eat the most at night and I wanted to save all my calories to overcompensate for how much I would eat at night (I have no idea if this is what you are doing). I decided to try and spread out my calories more evenly throughout the day just to see what happens and I realized my desire to eat so much at night dissapeared when I evened out my calories. It works much better for myself personally.

Do whatever works best but you might want to try spreading out the calories...I have just found myself eating less overall now that I tried this method.

I'm the same way. I dunno what it is, but eating light during the day works for me and I think it is because at dinner I can sit down and spend more time with my food preparation and actually eating it. During the day I don't want to spend more time eating, if that makes sense. I would rather just eat something light, even if it is a small salad, and move on to other things.

Today I ate something a bit heavy and early for lunch and now it is sticking with me and weighing me down lol. I think it is better for me, personally, to eat smaller meals throughout the day. Breakfast smoothie or whatever, snacks of fruits if I need a bit extra, and a more substantial dinner.

This is usually how I do it, as well. i find that if I eat heavy for lunch, I end up in a food coma and just feel totally wiped for the rest of the afternoon. Eating light, with lots of protein, seems to keep me feeling pretty good for the day. I'm trying to balance it out more, and I've heard your heaviest meal should be breakfast, but like dieting in general, it's all about what works for you. I am SO picky with breakfast and lunch foods that I just have a hard time liking whatever I bring... so it helped to not think of traditional lunch foods, but rather whatever sounded good. I love to cook so dinner is my favorite.. I get to spend time at home really preparing something tasty, rather than rushing through lunch to get more work done or whatever. I think that's why it ends up being my biggest meal of the day.

Over the years I've tried a lot of diet plans, and none of them worked (for me), because none of them let me be me. They all told me I was wrong for how I ate, and that I could only lose it if I did it a certain way. I basically had to invent my own plan to succeed.

I know I've said it before Lori Bell but you think very much the way I do. I think we've both found, through lots of trial and error, what works best FOR US, no matter what all the diet 'experts' out there say.

Wow! I know this thread is really old but I wanted to know from those who eat light throughout the day and focus on protein exactly what do you eat?

I prefer eating lighter throughout the day and want to make sure I'm getting in enough protein.

TIA!
