Dramatic first week
Dramatic first week loss, Kootch, keep on plugging away.
Those late night munchies are a bear. Are you having a post dinner snack? That's works for me - tides me over til bedtime. Good luck finding your solution. |
Thanks Bill, Flat, and Operator.
I have 5-6 small meals daily. Essentially on a schedule of 8am, 10:30am, 1pm, 3:30pm, 6pm, and 8:30pm - give or take. Each meal is pretty equal amounts of carb & protein. ie: chicken breast & baked potato, bowl of yogurt & cottage cheese, banana & almonds, etc I usually hit the sack by 10pm or so, but if I don't fall asleep quickly, or wake up for the washroom, I gravitate to the kitchen - never fails between 11 and midnight. And it's always craving junk food, something I've surprisingly not been craving at any other point in the day. |

I tried a bunch of different things, I went to 6 small meals. Pounded water. I changed my work out both in style (just swimming) to swimming and elliptical. As well as intensity (4 times a week to 5). Nothing did the trick. Then on the 4th week, it just kicked in again, like it had been before. So frustrating, but it does seem like the body needs to adjust. |
Just thought I would pop in and say whats up! I started C25K this week and so far so good, I have 2 days under my belt and feeling great about it.
how is everyone's week turning out? As Ever Me |

A good friend of mine got laid off a few weeks ago. I know money is tight and he's going through all sorts of things, and when he called this morning and wanted to get together at lunch, I (trying to be a good supportive friend) said yes. We headed out and his suggestion was an all-you-can-eat sushi place. I went, and pigged out. And the whole way back to the office, I felt terrible about how much I had. Funny thing, when I punched it into FITDAY.com, it's really not bad at all as far as choices go! Sushi seems to be fine, yeah - laden with carbs maybe, but seems to be an overall decent choice in the grand scheme of things. Who knew! Here I thought it was turning into a total sabotage day... |
So, I've been eating pretty lean and clean for 3 weeks, been working out with weights 5 times a week for the past couple weeks, and doing cardio 3-4 times a week. Down 14 lbs so far, pretty happy I guess - not thrilled, to be honest when I know I should be estatic. Not sure why I'm not happier with a solid success so far - bizarre! I'll just keep working through it.

I am SOOOOO sore. I got busy with work (had to travel some) and I stopping my weight lifting rountine for a few weeks and i started back up again and it is just like I just started again! I can gardly move every muscle in my body is sore. Even my chest muscles hurt! LOL!
But it is a "good" hurt! I know it won't last but I am never going to lay out like that again! I put two 25lbs dumb bells in my SUV so at least I can lift some! Also it has been SO dang hot lately I haven't been able to ride my bike! I wish it would cool of a little! I don't mind a little warm but 95 degrees is too much for me! |
I didn't lose anything via the scales last week, but I think the pants are a little looser - which is what counts.
Been hitting the weights hard about 5 times a week. You know what the biggest struggle is? I HATE cardio of any type. Any walk more than 20 minutes kills me, and the only thing I can tolerate even a little is the exercise bike, but I loathe it. Trying to get past this, as I need the cardio! |

Howdy, gents. Just thought I'd check in with my fellow brothers of 3FC. I wonder if we can get this thread sticky'd. Might be useful for those newbies (like me) to know that "Yes, indeed, there are men in 3FC!" :D

Hey all you hot guys, as the starter of this thread, I agree, it should be sticky'd. Mods, could we pretty, pretty, please get this thread sticky'd? Guys need a place to hang out and talk about their weight, healthy eating, exercise and everything else too! Besides, I enjoy seeing the other side of the coin, in this journey we're all on.:D Yeah, a girl started this. :D;) |
Welcome DanC73
Hi DanC73 - Missed your post (thanks shcirerf, "a girl", for bumping this).
Welcome to the men's thread, where we occasionally grunt toward one another, but, in my experience, have never engaged in monastic conversations. I'm father of two also - two that have left the nest. What eating and exercise plans are you working? . |

I had my first session with my personal trainer this morning. She had me do some circuit training and really improved my cardio workout. :ebike: When we meet again next week, she will have me do some light weight training to help me tone up. When I get leaner and down to around 180, she wants me to start some more intense strength training. My fitness goal is to be able to play soccer again and enjoy winter sports (skiing, snowboarding, x-country skiing). I got up late this morning and we started my session a little late. Boy did she bust my balls, but she is a great fitness coach and I think I am very lucky to have her helping me. The time really flew by and it didn't even seem like an hour went by. |

I love the girls, have three that own me. Wife of 24 years, Daughter #1 Honor Student Eastern Michigan, Daughter #2 Honor student Junior HST High School, The Golden Retriever and me have the only third legs in the house. We live to serve, proudly! I will give my story elsewhere --- but I too ask for this thread to be Stickied! Better Yet - Ladies.. If nothing else, this olive branch could add many to our ranks..We are all on the same journey! If it were not for Diabetic Z, I would not have found this male thread (I looked up his previous posts and found this thread) Perhaps (with tongue in cheek) Mighty Aphrodite, could give us our own area to call home :carrot: She could stick us under dieting with obstacles (MEN) :D Looking forward - always forward... And, :wel3fc: Another man about the place is terrific. There are a bunch of us on 3FC but we tend to hang out at different places; usually not much traffic on this thread. . |
Happy New Years!
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas and New Years I did!
I haven't been online in a while. Been doing some moving, traveling and wandering. Bought a Harley for myself and been teaching myself to ride. Havin a ball! Can't wait for it to warm up! Kinda went off the diet for the holidays but I am back on track again. :carrot: |
Happy New Year
And Happy New Year to you flatiron and all the other men who wander upon this thread.
The thought of a Harley gets my juices flowing. I always thought I'd own one by now to get past my mid-life crisis, but it just hasn't happened. Do you have long trips in mind - like a cross-country to San Francisco to ride across the Golden Gate Bridge? . |

WW is my eating plan choice As far as exercise, I work for a veterinarian, so I have a very physically demanding job. So, up to now, I've just indulged in quiet walks around the farm. With the new year, I'm going to rejoin the local community center/gym, so I can use the ellipitical and start lifting weights again. If I have a membership I do go. And I do enjoy it. I'm curious to see how much weight I can lift, since I can dead lift a 70lb dog from the floor to the exam table. Good luck all you guys, have a loser new year!:D |
Hey guys, checking into this thread. Good to see other guys around here!
|
HI there just restarted the FS Diet today, and was weanted to know how you guys are doing. Exercise routines and need some motivation. I did the Fat Smash last year nad lost 50 pounds, regained 35 of it and need to get back on track !!!!!!!!!!! Good luck to all

Welcome Tucker,
Here is my thread where I update with what I am doing and has my "plan" or whatever you want to call it. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/weig...g-tracker.html Us guys have a lot of advantages in this weight loss thing. TBH I think a huge part of it (at least for me) is just to sack up and do it;) |
Awesome
Thanks for posting your journey thus far. Our stories are about the same. I started yesterday, I am 6'2 around 310, lost 50 lbs last year on fat smash. I ahve to get my a$$ to the gym, walked some stairs yesterday but need to get in a workout routine. Have a 3 1/2 year old daughter at home I have to get healthy for!! Did pretty good yesterday 5 small snakcs meals and no beer or caffenie. So far so good!!!! Had plain oatmeal, so pistashios and a fruit/veggie salad for lunch. I am going to workout after work. Your blog really has helped!!!! Congrats thus far and you even did damn good during holidays!!!
Thanks Tucker |
Nice! Don't try to do too much at once or starve yourself. I've just decided to always eat when I'm hungry, otherwise I binge way too much. Only real difference is that I try to stick something healthy into my mouth instead of something bad.
Us guys tend to be problem solvers (or so my wife always complains;) and I recently decided to try to approach this process like that. So instead of letting life happen to me in regards to eating/exercise I try to think more in advance about it. My challenge for today... I have to leave for the airport at 3pm, and won't get to my hotel in NYC until around 11pm. Need to figure out where, what, and how I will eat over that 8 hour period. I haven't figured it out yet, 2 more hours to make a plan (and pack haha) |
Just poppin in to say ello ello to all the fellas.
Been a good week for me and Friday will bring me another great loss, because I demand it! That is all, you may now return to your regularly scheduled program. As Ever Me |
