I'm pretty sure building codes here won't allow for a fireplace as a primary heating source. Even if not, you'd have to be insane to try it. This winter I saw news report about folks out east that get heating oil delivered to their houses. That would worry me. I just know an atrocious blizzard would hit a few days before my delivery date. I want my heat hard lined to my house.
Side note-My X is a coal miner in WY. I guess the law there still entitles him to a certain amount of coal monthly owed to him by his company. Of course, all the coal burning stoves have been changed out and the coal rooms are used for storage. I feel for ya with the rain. A friend told me I should check out a job in Washington State. Then, he mentioned that it rains something like 250 days a year there.:dz: Faggit about it! Here, we freeze our water before dropping it from the sky.:snowglo: |
only 250 days a year wow thats like amazing. i wish it would ony rain here 250 days of the year, as opposed to 250 days straight

hows everyone coping with the weekend. this is going to be bad for me the six nations kicks off in under 2 hours. starting with england italy. then 2 more games later today will be hard not to snack
|
Ouch for so many games in one day.
We just got over Super Bowl Sunday, a notorious day for male over snacking in the U. S. Some amazing percentage of the avocados sold in the US are sold to make guacamole on that day. Wish you luck - maybe lots of sparking water. Frozen grapes work for a great sweet taste and take a while to consume each one. And good luck to England in today's match. |
i managed to survive the superbowl fairly well as it was on at 11pm here. however 3 games back to back will take some doing to resist being bad, the trip to the gym has been abandoned due to rugby
|
The weekends have been pretty good for me. In the past I always had trouble sticking to any sort of plan on weekends but on this plan for the last month I have been able to avoid the cravings.
I have a hockey game to go see today, Calgary Flames Vs. Anaheim Ducks. I have been avoiding my usual few beers at the games this year and plan on continuing that trend. |
well on the up side one game is tomorrow so only 2 today. however on the flipside the England game is terrible we are awful granted we are winning atm 29-11 but we are really really poor, depression eating is hard to stop but i'm resisting

Hey all just wanted to post that I started lifting weights again. I haven't lifted in years but it comes back pretty fast.
My brother-in-law Floyd was a champion body builder back in the 70's and I used to work out with him a lot back then and I was at my biggest and the best shape I had ever been back then. I wish I had never stopped lifting and exercising!. A LOT of the guys at the gym took steroids back then, many were cops even. You could buy them anywhere back then they weren't even really considered illegal at least the authorites didn't go after it like they do now. My BIL shot decca and test for 20 years and it gave him an enlarged heart and eventually killed him when he was 43, THANK GOD I didn't take it long term even though I did tried it ONCE and I didn't like it and I didn't like needles (you shoot it in your butt) Anyways it feels good to be back in the weight lifting part of the gym. I downloaded some heavy metal music (Pantera, Metallica, Powermad! LOL) and listen to it while I am working out and its wild how music can motivate you, when I listen to that kind of music (I don't normally my taste is pretty mellow acousticly) it makes me want to bend the barbell in half! LOL! Makes me want to grunt a lot too! LOL! :carrot: |
just went down a pants size! LOL! I've been wearing sweat pants a lot lately (work for myself) and I didn't notice until I went to church last Sunday and I had to wear suspenders or my dang pants would fall off! LOL!
Luckily I have ALL of my smaller clothes (at least 4 different sizes as I got bigger!) I just have to go dig them out of storage! |
Way to go FlatIron!!!:jig:
I've done the same thing with my old jeans. Now I'm packing away my bigger ones. But, 10 more lbs. and I have to go shopping.:) I simply refuse to accidentally "moon" the guys at work. I'll only do that if it's on purpose. |
nearly march which means better weather. paddys day the start of spring and of course the change of the clocks for longer days all equally challanges but the possibility of getting out and about for longer. woop
|
no WAY I'm letting this baby die! WOOT WOO! :D
Hey I did one full hour on the elliptical machine at the YMCA this morning and then went on a 25 mile bike ride with my friend up and down hills and trails THEN .... when I got bored in the evening I went ANOTHER 60 minutes on the elliptical machine again from 9pm - 10pm right before the Y closed for the night. I amazed myself! LOL! 3 months ago when I started (Dec1) I couldn't go 15 minutes on the elliptical at the lowest setting it had without feeling like I was going to fall out! 45lbs lighter and 3 months of aerobic exercise (I workout every day) my stamina has tripled! It sure doesn't take long to build it back up you just have to get out there and DO IT! LOL! :carrot::carrot::carrot: |
Serious exercise there
flatiron - Kudos for some impressive time on the elliptical on top of a 25 mile bike ride.
You're a great example to remind folks that you don't have to lose all your weight before you begin some serious exercise. |
Quote:
And yes I can do 2 hours on the elliptical (1 hour in the AM and 1 hour in the PM) but it is at a slow speed (slow but steady! LOL) but like I said 3 months ago I couldn't do 15 minutes without feeling like I was gonna pass out!! But the more I do and the more weight I lose the easier it is getting with each passing week. :carrot: |
WOW! I tried on a $200.00 dollar leather vest that I haven't been able to wear for 2 or 3 years because it was too tight and it is still too tight but it won't be long before I can wear it again because it is only about 2 inches too small now to close in the front!
I've got a LOT of clothes I haven't been able to wear because of my weight but hopefully soon! My regular uniforn that past few years has been sweats and t-shirts! LOL! :D |
Hey guys, I just found this thread and as one of the fellas on here I figured I would chime in with a hello! I started on this weight loss train in Jan 2008 and have since lost 180 pounds in that same 14.5 months, I started at 534 pounds and currently am 352 pounds and still going! my goal weight is 275 (265 really but initially it was 275 so I left it) so I have a ways to go to hit that number, I stand 6'5'' tall and have a large build, pretty cool to have a fellas thread here ;) check out my blog (in the sig) if you are interested to see how I did it, or feel free to shoot me a PM with questions.
keep on keepin on gentlemen. As Ever Me |

It is so inspiring! I KNOW I can do it too! :D |

The way I look at it is ya get what ya put in, bust arse and guess what? you will have results, make excuses? and I would still be a 534 pound guy stuffing whole pizza's down my pie hole. You CAN do it anyone can as long as they stay honest with themselves and put in a good honest effort. good luck with your losses. As Ever Me |
Yup I can relate. A short time ago I could eat a whole pizza by myself with no problem.
I know now that the REAL secret about losing weight is you have to stick to it. No matter what just keep going. If I get down to 172.5lbs I TOO will be half the man I used to be. That is what I would need to be to have a normal BMI so it is possible. Hey maybe there needs to be another club here ... the Half a Man Club! LOL! :D |
Wow. I saw your blog and that's incredible! What an inspiration. Keep up the great progress.

It's really heavy duty though and very well made so I doubt it would break. I like the internal 3 gears for hills I don't need all that complicated gears and shifters on a bike I just want a plain bike. It sorta looks like a cross between a beach cruiser and a newpaper boy's bike very retro looking. The best thing though is the WIDE tractor seat it comes with it is VERY comfortable if you know what I mean. I had a mountain bike but the seat on that thing was PURE torture for me! LOL! Here's the link to my bike! http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...r/cruiseliner/ And who freakin cares what anybody thinks you look like on a bike it is fun to ride and you are doing it for you! LOL! Besides the more you ride and lose the smaller you will be anyways! :carrot: |
That is a beautiful bike Flatiron. Here is a loink to the bike I want to buy.
