Veggie - I'm not sure what kind it's an older air resitance one with the moving arms . I'm working on slowlly turning the shop into a small home gym .With as much stuff as the hubby will allow .So far I have the bike and a bowflex and now I just want a treadmill. I'm way to shy and paranoid to go to the gym . Calories I try to stay right at 1200 anything over and i gain . I think my metabolism is a bit messed up from my eating habits a few years ago.
Jp- Sorry your day started out not so great but atleast you made the best of it . And at least you found a reasonable quote . I'm lucky my father in-law does body work and painting so all I have to pay for is parts .Great job on eating right and on working out !!!!
Satisfaction- Welcome !!! And great job on the 35lb !!
Satisfaction....And congrats on your 35 pound lost...How did you do it? Glad you joined us; check back often...
JP - Good job on the day 5 of the shred video Is it as tough as people say?
Fld - 1200 calories; that's hard to do, but I hear you about the screwed up metabolism thing...Sounds like you're putting together a nice work out space...as for being shy about the gym, I don't go to a big fitness center...we live in an apartment building, and we have a gym in the basement...its nicely equipped, and has two tvs, but its generally not too busy, so I don't really feel self conscious; the only exception is when people come in with their trainers...I always feel like the trainer is looking at me, inwardly laughing at my weight training form
Well I avoided bad eating due to the computer stress...and, I again had my one portion of i/c last nite...This is really so new for me, to allow myself to eat a small portion of something that I consider a "bad food"...So far, I haven't wavered, but today I am starting to worry about what this might do to my maintenance efforts...I know rationally that I'm not really consuming any more calories, and that the most important thing for me right now is to eat like a normal person (or as normal as any woman can be around food), but I feel that nagging voice getting louder..the one that says cut it out, go on a restrictive plan again...Help me to shut that voice up...it always leads to a binge
welcome Satisfaction! great job with the 35lb loss so far! keep it up and we're here for you! and please do tell how you lost the weight!
fld, a mini-gym and an auto body shop?! wowee! that's everything i need right now hope your day is going well!
veggie, great job with the ice-cream portions! i totally understand about the nagging voice, but i do think it's important to teach ourselves to not necessarily deprive ourselves of things we like to eat. instead, have it within reason and in the right proportion. so i think you're doing really well with that! just try not to listen to the voice, and hopefully it should go away. or try to counteract it by telling it you're proud of yourself for only having that one portion.
as for me, good day so far. i joined the fitday.com website to track my food/calorie intake. i've been writing down everything i eat, but it doesn't seem to be helping me much, maybe i'm not doing something right... so i decided to try fitday.com. 30-day Shred video was pretty intense the first few times i did it. yesterday being day 5, i felt like i improved a lot from the first day. the strength part of the video is the toughest for me. i like the circuit form of the video, since i tend to get bored pretty quickly when i have to do a certain move for too long, so that's nice especially since i have to do the same video for 10 days straight. but overall, i think it's pretty good.
Veggie - A gym in the basement that would be so nice ! I dont think any of the apartments around here have anything like that .Though I dont think I could do anyone looking at me . I like the privacy of my shop no one to see me but the hubby and the kids on eating so well yesterday !! That nagging voice can be hard when it's pushing to lose weight . But you just need to keep reminding yorself that your not gaining weight on your maintance plan and your happy at your weight . Not sure how much that'll help but it's my plan for later .I hope your days going great !!
satisfaction & Jp - I hope your days are going great !!!
My days starting off well I tried out the new exercise bike last night now my legs are sore but I like sore
fld
exercise has been going great for me. with the 30-day shred challenge, i've been working out everyday for the past week! wohoo! i've never done that before, but it feels great! almost to the point that i want to exercise! almost..
anyway, just a couple of questions:
1. so fiber is supposed to be good when trying to lose weight, right? i don't get enough on my daily diet, so would using fiber supplements like FiberOne be beneficial? has anyone tried that?
2. i'm trying to drink more water cuz i definitely don't drink enough. so, i'm trying to figure out how to squeeze in the recommended daily dose in my days without feeling like i'm drowning in water!
JP - you are an exercise star! Great job...keep it up
As for the fiber, I don't like to use the supplements; they always make me feel kinda naseuous...For extra fiber, I eat strawberries and raspberries...they have alot of fiber, rasp more than straw, and they are low in calories...I also eat really high fiber cereals...two I get at the health food store are "Simply Fiber" which you really have to mix with something, and Smart Bran made by Nature's Path that has only 90 calories per serving and a ton of fiber, and really tastes good on its own...
If you're looking for something sweet, Gnu Bars are great for added fiber; most have between 130 and 150 calories and 12g of fiber in a generous bar and they come in yummy flavors like banana nut, chocolate, peanut butter, cinammon raisin and orange cranberry.
As for the water, I drink alot of tea...I count that as water...I also use "True Orange" and True Lime; they are powders that you add to liquids; they have no calories, no artificial sweetners, and they make plain water much more palatable...
Hope everyone is doing well....Today was good...we even went out to lunch with visiting relatives, and I was able to eat reasonably well...grilled salmon and spinach...
Evening Everyone !!
Jp-Great job on working out everyday !!!! The water is hard to get all of it but I like veggie also count my tea .
Veggie- Great job on going out and eating so well !! I've been avoiding eating out . I even turned down my dad wanting to take me out for my birthday .
My day's going pretty well . I talked my hubby into going on a diet with me so that made me very happy ! And I got a great compliment from a guy he works with so it's been a good day . I havent over eaten I used the bowflex and the exercise bike earlier and tonight I'll be doing my 2 mile WATP.
sounds like everyone is doing well! great eating and exercising! wohoo
thanks for the tips on the fiber and water. i like tea too, but does it count even if the tea is caffeinated? veggie, where can i get the Gnu Bars and True Orange/Lime? health food stores, as well?
Its really cold here; we had a big temperature dip (about 20 degrees) since the weekend, and while I like winter, I like it to come on gradually, not overnight...
Fld - great job on the exercise and kudos to getting the husband to come along for the ride...my husband was really heavy when we met, lost a lot of weight, then stayed pretty even for a while; about three years after we got married, he got real heavy again, and went to WW; he lost the weight...then gained some back; in total went to WW three times; each time lost the weight...now, he should lose about 10...but with the holidays I know its probably not realistic, so I'm just trying to watch what I give him so that he doesn't gain any more...
JP - you can get the Gnu Bars and True Orange at the health food store, but I have also seen both in some big grocery stores like Stop and Shop and Shop Rite. Another good sweet fiber source are VitaTops or VitaMuffins which you can get in the freezer section of the grocery store, or online at Vitalicious.com. The only problem with ordering on line is that you have to buy a lot at a time, and they have to go in the freezer. They have about 100 calories, and anywhere from 4 to 6 grams of fiber; all kinds of flavors including alot of choc varities.
I count my tea but the only caffinated one I drink is usually in the morning; the rest of the day I drink flavored decaffinated.
it was freezing here today and we had a fair amount of snow and icy roads. brrr...
went to the grocery store and got some fiber-filled foods, including snack bars and yogurt. can't wait to try them. my quest to drink more water is going pretty well. i havn't reached the recommended daily amount yet, but i'm getting there. i've definitely been going to the bathroom more often today, which is kind of a pain, but at least i know i'm drinking more than i usually do. busy day today and i dropped my car off at the shop, so i wasn't able to squeeze in any exercise, but definitely tomorrow.
Veggie-Part of it was he's gained 40lbs in the past couple monthes (he used to work very hard at work and he still eats like he's burning all those calories). We'll see if he'll do it he usually gives up or sneaks in junk .I hope your day's going well .
Jp-Great job on getting your daily amount of water!! I still dont drink my full amount most days.Have a great day.
My days starting well . Yesterday was okay . I was craving a soda all day and finally caved and opened one but didnt drink it(not by choice my 4 year old stole it and it was the last one . So I guess even she's on board with this diet ) .
Have a Great Day !!!!
fld
Fld - That is too funny about your soda! Somebody is clearing looking out for you!
JP - glad to hear that things are going well; I'm interested to know if you see a more noticeable weight loss as a result of drinking more water faithfully....
Things here are good...so far no slip ups, although I have to admit I'm probably keeping the lifesavers people in business as that has been my answer when i feel like i need to eat and i know i shoudn't...Got my exercise in this a.m. and now I'm off to the health food store...
Someone definatelly is I almost ruined my 5 weeks with no soda and here comes my daughter to save me from myself .
Great job on no slip ups !!! Lifesavers are a great thing thats how my dad quit chewing after 20 some years .Great job on the exercise as well !!!
Have a great day !!!
fld
fld, that is definitely funny about the soda! we're all on your side, even chance!
veggie, good thinking with the lifesavers. i have to try that when i feel like eating! i guess there's a reason why they're called lifesavers!
good eating and exercising for me today. drinking of water is doing well too! veggie, i'm not sure if this is a result of the water but when i weighed myself this morning i was down a couple of pounds from 2 days ago. so, i'm not sure if i just passed all that water weight when i kept going to the bathroom yesterday, or if it is all the water helping. but i can't believe it yet, so i'm gonna weigh myself again tomorrow morning and see if the drop in weight is true! cross your fingers!
Jp-It was kind of funny not so much at the time when I really wanted that pop your doing great !!!Water does seem to help alot. Your doing a great job on everything ! I think drinking water helps your body gety rid of all that water (water weight)that your body's holding on to though I'm not totally sure I do no I lost a few lbs when I gave up pop and started drinking water.
Great Job everyone!!!
