I've always known that I had to get going and lose some weight, but the thing that finally got me to commit was the shock of seeing myself near 300 pounds. Turns out, my scale was broken all throughout the summer, and always put me at 270ish, so I stopped worrying about always gaining (as I had been all last year). When I went to the doctor, and found out I was 288, it freaked me out!
Looking at the scale, going up a pound or two a week, its not as pressing as when you see the scale go up twenty pounds in one day!
