I'm 39, married with 3 kids. I'm an LPN and I work in an OB/GYN office. In my spare time I mess around with this computer and all of my neighbors computers and every now and again, I get invited to mess with computers of folks I don't even know!
My other hobbies are reading and digital photography.
I live on a small farm in northern Michigan. We have 5 cows, 2 horses, cats, dogs, chickens, ducks and geese and a few rabbits here and there.
I first started out with WW in September of 98. I lost 30 lbs really quick, got myself off insulin within 9 months and did well until the fall of 2000 when I had multiple surgeries. I gained some weight back then. Then summer of 2001 it all went to H**l in a handbasket and I had multiple health problems again. My meds got all switched around again, and I again gained some weight which I'm working on to get rid of.
I weigh in at WW once a month and attend weekly meetings there when my schedule allows.
I'm the leader of a Healthy Weigh class here in the village, so that helps to keep me focused on my goals.
My goals? Believe it or not I don't even want to be thin. I'd like to get back down to 180 -190 and get off insulin again. I know I can do it if I just stick with it.
Oh well, chalk it up to the seasonal birthday bash...mine and my son's a week later. Then they also had a huge cake at church, but I declined taking home the leftovers because I'm sure I would eat them if they were around. *chuckling*
The trick is to get back on track. I am for today so far, though its currently only 10 am.
Kat, hang in there, just take one day at a time. My husband just quit his job, I'm not sure how it will effect my eating habits at the moment. He was so stressed out from work that he is taking a week or two to recoup before he looks for another one. I may gain 20 lbs in 2 weeks if I'm not careful!! Just kidding. But I'm not sure if I want him around the house all day. He is such a couch potato.
Well, have studying to do, hope your day is a good one.
Just thought I'd pop in and say good morning to everyone!
I'm not doing very well on program just now and hae had migraine headaches for several days in a row. I know that's what is keeping me from doing my best!
I'm working 12 - 5 today. Nothing planned for after work though so maybe I'll get some "me" time.
I am also off track. I've been stressed out this week due to the fact that I've been studying for 4 test. I now have three of them out of the way, so I'm feeling a little more at ease. I know that I passed 2 of the 3 I've taken with A or B's, but I'm not to sure about how well I did on the Algebra test. So now, I must pick myself up, dust myself off and get back on track!!!
Well, its late, hope everyone is okay, I'm off to bed.
Well, another half day of work today, so I did have time to clean up around here just a bit. About time too!
Tonight after work, I'm going to a Heart Net meeting in a nearby village. They're having a speaker on diet and nutrition, and Lord knows I need a refresher course.
Actually my whole HealthyWeigh group is coming with me! Our meeting night is Thursday and so we're taking a field trip. Saves me from having to write a program this week.
No, I didn't forget about all of you. I've just been through a lot, and at one point didn't have access to a computer. Here's what's been happening:
The day after Christmas, we moved in with my mother-in-law. Her Alzheimers has gotten worse, to the point she couldn't live on her on. The move was approx. 120 feet, since the year before we had moved a modular home in behind m-i-l's house out in the country.
Then my mil had a perforated ulcer and had emergency surgery in Feb. She pulled out her NG tube afterwards and developed C-Diff.
For those of you who might not know, that is a terrible bacteria and at age 91, it is amazing she pulled through at all. SHe recuperated at a convalescent home once she was able to be moved, and is now home. While she was in the hospital, we (family members) spent 24-7 in her room, taking turns.
During all this, my older daughter got married to a real nice guy, and they moved into the modular and are paying the mortgage on that. They are expecting twins, Yes TWINS, in July.
Need I tell you that my weigh loss is almost nil? Yes, Kat I can say 'Backslide'.
Meantime, our computer is upstairs, and I can't leave mil unattended. So guess what? DH bought me a laptop! I absolutely love it! Also, I have scheduled some home health care for mil. That will help her and me both.
Now I will be able to check in with my friends here. I feel like I have been rode hard and put away wet, as my mom used to say. I have really missed you guys!
Carree - The quote you gave is so pertinent to my life right now. The good Lord must have one heck of a backache from carrying me for so long.....
I took mil to the dr today to get him to take her off a bunch of the meds the hospital and nursing home put her on. The poor thing is sleepy all the time from so many drugs.
I am going shopping for myself this weekend in a nearby town, and may stay overnight for some solitude. When I try on clothes, I'll be so sorry I haven't controlled myself.
May the sun shine warm upon your back. Enjoy the day--today everyone is Irish. While we are at it, lets also wish for an end to the violence in EIRE and elsewhere in the world.
JANA, welcome back. We've missed you. I hope you had a nice weekend away. I took advantage of getting away myself this weekend. My husband and I went to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for a little rest and relaxation after a week of test. I'm feeling much better and ready to get back on track.
Hey Carree, Kat and Posenite, hope you girls had a good weekend.
Let's take a moment to stop and think today. If we all stay on program for three months, how will we look and feel when it's time to say, "Happy First Day of Summer?"
Thought for Today:
Never give up on a goal because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.
Things have been hectic around here, even more than usual. Following my mil's hospital discharge, we've had home health care giving her baths, doing OT and PT as well as a nurse coming by for blood work and vitals. The good news is, she is ready to go back to the senior center adult day care starting next week. YAY!!! It is so great that she is better, and I am so ready for a break.
The first day of Spring is rainy here in Indiana. We've had rain all week. But there is a promise of sunshine in a day or so. The winter wheat is looking healthy and strong, and the apricot tree is loaded with buds.
Ruth, thanks for the warm welcome back. It is so much easier to check in since I have the laptop.
You know, we have been friends here for quite a while. What are the chances we could all get together later in the summer or even Fall? That would give us a chance to save some money for it. We could pick a city that is centrally located and meet there. Any ideas about this??
I am not on track and haven't been for I don't know how long. I got a good look at myself in the wedding pictures, and in most of them, I am cleverly trying to stand behind something or someone, (so typical of overwight people, right?) but there were a few that showed the whole bod. Yikes! What an eye opener. I really, truly didn't know I was THAT big. I am afraid to start again because I fall off the wagon every time.
