I have a dog who thinks getting up to run at 5:30 am is the best thing in the universe!
Isn't it amazing how the animals always get up early?! Monks do too. I think there is something good about this, but I don't know exactly what it is.....
The fruit and vegetable prices here would make you guys cry.
1 pound of strawberries - $1
1 pound of oranges - $. 75
1 pound of broccoli - $. 50
Grapes, less than 30 cents. Tomatoes? Under 30 cents the pound. Onions, same deal.
I get fresh squeezed orange juice, as in they squeeze it in front of me, for about $0.30. All day, every day. The only stuff comparable to the US are the prices of eggs and meat.
I have to walk everywhere, that's a big plus as well.
I'm also in a long distance relationship, which not only means I can plan my own meals, but also that I can look forward to him seeing a big difference in me the next time we see each other, instead of getting used to changes little by little.
As I eat less crap, I'm losing my taste for things like twinkies that I craved before. They really taste awful!
I love water and I don't really care if I have pop or not.
I have to walk to campus and back (1 hr round trip)
I have wonderful parents who are flying me and my bf to Key West for Christmas, which gives me incentive to look super good in a bikini.
Wow...what a cool thread. I have many things to be grateful for:
I have a husband that is loving and encouraging and joins me on this effort.
We don't have kids, so even though we are pretty poor, we can afford to spend extra money on good healthy food.
We have an exercise bike
Our cable company offers exercise videos on demand, FREE
We were able to afford two new bicycles so that we can take long, challenging, relaxing bicycle rides on Saturdays.
Although I don't always feel like this is a blessing, I don't pay for a parking permit for school, so I have to park 1/2 mile away and walk back and forth to school! :P
We live in a warm climate and never experience snow and rarely experience rain, so outdoor exercise is always an option.
I am extremely thankful for this website and all of you who support me and my efforts. THANKS!
And I have enjoyed reading everyones posts! I especially like it when there is something that could be seen as a disadvantage but there is also an upside to it - and we choose to see the positive. We all have so much going for us to help us meet our goals!
--I have a wonderful partner that supports my efforts.
--I am in a good financial position where I can afford a structured program like Jenny Craig
--I own a very nice treadmill and some other smaller things so I can have a home gym.
--I have friends who are very supportive as well.
--I like fruit and veggies and yogurt!
- My hubby is doing this with me...and, he does all of the menu planning and cooking! (Thank God! Cooking is not one of my many talents.)
- I was recently able to purchase my own treadmill....a longtime dream.
- I have wonderful doctors that have helped me with my insulin resistance issues and my hormone therapy, so that I can still lose weight.
- This time, I refuse to give up....no matter how difficult and painful this journey can become sometimes and no matter how long it takes to reach goal. Afterwards, I will be equally determined to maintain my loss.

If SPINYMOUSE can be positive so can I ~ what is this world coming too?
I have never really cared for sweet foods or candy. I can eat them but I would much rather have a bag of chips.
My Klondike bar addictions usually last less than 2 months/once a year
My wife can beat me up
My wife has beat me up....this gives me incentive to get in shape!
My wife can outrun me
My wife has outrun me....I had to rope her on our wedding day
I have two gorgeous "personal trainers"....of course they demand a walk every day when I get home for my exercise...just wish they wouldn't poop in my yard!
I am not a big fan of fruit...give me a vegetable any day...unless it's beets!
Rachael Ray's meals are not that bad
Rachael Ray's show is better than THE VIEW...although I do like Elisabeth
Nobody beats 3FC....NOBODY!

Reason: spelling is over-rated
My treadmill sits in front of a TV that always has a ballgame or Judge Judy on....leaving me NO EXCUSE to not exercise!
My wife supports me by "doing" not "saying"
My niece's (who haven't seen me for about 5 weeks) said "Uncle Gary! You're skinny!" at my nephew's birthday party last night....then asked how I did it and listened to and took notes of my answers!
- I have my health, one of the most important and irreplaceable assets a person can have. I don't need any prescription meds, I've never smoked, and I've never been overweight.
- I have a flexible job that allows me to choose my own hours and work out when I want
- As much as I gripe about my gym, it's perfectly adequate, and it's less than a 5 minute walk from my office
- I have a well-paying job and don't have to worry about the cost of food, gym membership, or even the new clothes I need to replace those that are too big.
- I live close enough to my office that my commute is only 12 minutes on foot.
- Most of all, I have a family that I adore, and who supports me in whatever I do. My job can be high-stress, but it rarely gets to me because my family life is never high stress. (Of course, when The Boy hits the teen years, all bets may be off. )
I also live alone and can do what I want most times!
When my SO stays over, he doesn't care what I do either-we each do our own thing! (I love him! LOL)
Also, I made my decision (which I always knew I wanted, but never had the courage to declare) that I don't want to have any children, so that leaves my body to me and me alone for the rest of my life! None of those issues to deal with.
Forgot to add: I have always loved "healthy" food - I just always ate too much of everything. So I never had to develop a taste for vegetables, whole grains, seafood etc. I just need to know when to stop!
