Default I bought a scale :(

The nicer version of my old scale was on sale, so I bought it.

I came home, weighed myself...and I haven't lost a pound.

How is this possible? I've lost 6 inches...put not an ounce. I'm so very upset...

First of all - I don't care how good a scale is - or if it is the same model of what you had before - there is no way you'll get the same weight. Even with mine - if I get on and it says 220 and then I get off - and 10 minutes later I get back on - it may say 218. Just do it once a week at the same time and go from there. You've lost inches and that IS a big deal.

I know...but there is that feeling of being stuck at a number.

The size 22 pants I bought at Old Navy 2 months ago that fit perfectly are now very loose - and it's more than just stretching, they're falling off. It's just discouraging that significant weight hasn't come off.

You may be redistributing your weight right now or turning fat into muscle. It's all part of losing weight. For some, it helps to do a chart of both your inches and weight lost and plot them on a graph or something so you can visually see the line moving downward. A loss is a loss though, whether it's in weight or in inches.

I agree - your pants are looser - you are losing !!!!!! Try not to get hung up on the numbers - I do it too and I know it's hard - but you can FEEL the difference. Keep doing what you are doing and I bet you'll get on the scale soon and see 5 gone.

The inches are the important part anyway. No one will notice if your scale tells you that you've lost 1lb, but 6" lost is significant and observable! I'd take lost inches over lost invisible pounds any day!

Hey Altari!

What kind of food program are you following? I know you've been exercising, but not what you're eating.

OK, I stepped on the scale again this morning. Last night it said 249, this morning it said 245. So, at the very least, that's a three pound loss from the last time I weighed in.

I'll have an egg and toast in the morning, maybe with a banana if I can stomach it. Some mornings I don't eat and just have a glass of milk - too busy rushing around to get hubby breakfast, then get my girls dressed and my oldest off to school. I'm also really just not a morning eater. Even if I'm hungry, it's like I have perpetual morning sickness from my pregnancies. Can't eat without feeling nauseous before 10AM. Lunch varies from a cup of pasta with veggies, to fish with veggies, to fruit salad, and occasionally (once or twice a month) we'll just order a small pizza with my mom. Dinner is always rice or pasta with veggies and fish (or veggies with a lot of protein) and fruit for dessert. Minimal butter, minimal oil on everything all day.

My one habit I can't kick is one can of coke in the morning. I've tried replacing it with coffee, but I still crave it. I don't really snack, because I just don't get too hungry between meals. If I do, it's generally a tortilla with cheese and veggies.

I've kept total track of what I eat, measuring everything, and I'm always in the 1500-2000 range, but usually somewhere around 1700. I just bought You On a Diet so I'm hoping that has metabolism upping tips. I think that's my real problem.

Sounds like a good meal plan--I'd have snacks, but it sounds like you don't need or want them. I hope you can get some tips from You on a Diet!

Do you know how much protein you get in a day, that is, how many grams or what percent of your total? Try for 30% if you're exercising a lot.
