I aggree with Jay in that the first step is getting the stuff out of your sight and grasp. I am known for finding pills that are in the house...if I KNOW they're there...I will tear things apart to find them.

While my parents were gone on vacation I went through all the meds to see if anything worth while was there. I felt so awful after this....I tell myself I don't want to, but then I just do it.

You have to know that ever single bottle is out of the house...hiding the stuff doesn't work.

You've also done the first step in getting through this...admitting it to a bunch of people. It takes a lot to admit you have this type of problem. Find a group....you will get a lot of help there. You can do it!

definitely not the only one. I still smoke cigarettes, but the worst that I had was a coke addiction and I just have to make sure I stay away from anyone who does coke or I could get sucked in again.

I have had a pretty messed up life and unfortunately have always turned to "something" to help me cope, but now, Thank God, I've had enough therapy and an extremely supportive partner and I don't feel that way anymore.

The rehabs Ive been to were both inpatient and then an addiction specialist. The inpatient I was there for about 2 weeks, they basically just detoxed me so I wouldnt go into seizures. And the specialist gave me some sleeping pills.
When I was taking these pills everyday bunches of them I was getting them from my friend. But recently Ive gone to doctors to get them. And there giving them to me, Yeah the bottle is gone in 2 days, but then I have another script and try to go fill it, and they say they cant fill it, then they call my insurance. Im still not sure whats going to happen with that, because my insurance sayed I cant fill it till the 6th. And whats todaay......THE 6th!!!! I had a chance to go get them before Icame to work, but I didnt. Im just not sure how im going to not go get them after work when I get stressed out

Stacie, When you take a deep breath and realize how much time and energy you are using trying to get drugs, use drugs, use just enough to stay alive, use just enough not to care, stop using drugs, you will be amazed at how little control you have of your life and how much control the pills have.

You need help. You want help. You cannot do it alone.

Find an AA or NA meeting near you. Better yet, log onto AA.org, find your local chapter and call their number. They can help.

If you do not choose the AA/NA path right now, then call the rehab you went to and tell them what's going on. They can help.

Or call the Women's Services Group in your area (Google: Women's Health Services, Your Town, Your State) and call them. They can help.

You are not alone, you are just currently out of reach. Make contact. We love you!

Hope

well I too have an addictive personality have been addicted to drugs and alcohol I quit the drugs in the late 80's and the alcohol FINALLY!! quit drinking on 6-21-07. I dont know something just clicked in me and I had had enough.

I'm 44 and have been drinking steady for 32 years. I was up to 2 large bottles of wine per day or 18 to 20 beers per day.I drank so much I was put on antidepressants! its wierd cause I wasnt even really drunk by the end of the day I could function drinking that much.

One thing I can tell you is if you are mixing sleeping pills and alcohol you are taking a risk of going to sleep and never waking up... it is very dangerous (I have 18+ years Pharmacy knowledge). I think you sound like you are ready for a change why not do it TODAY!!

I hope that you didnt think I said that. I just dont think people realize how serious it is to mix sleeping pills and alcohol. I have seen people die from it and they too werent trying to kill themselves, they just didnt know.

Debbs - I think Stacie was responding to a (very reasonable) question from Jayell earlier in the thread.

Stacie - I hope you find the courage you need to try sobriety again. I know this is NOT a recovery forum but you reached out here.

Good luck!

I just responded to the question, am I trying to kill myself. Not trying to sound rude. Im sorry Imust have not came across the right way. The addiction specialist gave me rozerem to help me go to sleep once I got out of rehab. I VERY rarely mix alchol. and rarely means it happened once. I sorry the way I put it could have been better

I feel your pain. What I did was go to rehab and then do what they told me to do which was that I had to go to AA. I went to AA and did what they told me to do.....I have been sober since 1989.

Always remember that whatever I say is just my opinion. I think you should get a handle on the drugs and alcohol before you try to lose weight. The drugs and alcohol will kill you quicker than the weight will.

Also, just because you haven't stayed clean and sober before, certainly doesn't mean thay you will never make it. Just keep trying. Something will eventually click with you.

Thank you!! When I was losing weight I didnt take pills. When I come off the pills, or when im on them. I eat everything. Losing weight made me feel better about myself, therefor, I didnt need to take anything. But since Its been hard getting back on track with my weight loss, I've been taking them. Wow, Ive been posting alot, im sorry its very boring at work and the last hour is always the hardest.

Im going to just try and make it today without going to get the pills. Maybe take a walk when I get home. Just one day at a time. I just want to get everything under control. Just me in general. Its not easy, im trying, its been almost a week.

Im open to meetings, Im just scared and rather not go alone my first time. I can check to see if one of my friends wants to go with me.
