My SD weighs the same as me, 142. She is 5'1 and wears a 12. I am 5'7 and wear mostly 4's. It depends so much on the clothes brand and the body shape. She carries her wt. in her hips and legs. I carry mine in my upper body. She wears a small in shirts. I wear a med/large in shirts.

Woah!! Talk about a wide variety of sizing, heights and weights!!
For me, at 180lbs I was a size 18 and now at the low 160s I am a 16. I do carry my weight in my stomach hips, and thighs but man! Talk about disparities

Don't you guys wish that womens clothes were measured the same way mens clothes are? If your waist is 30 inches, and your inseam is 34 inches ALL pants in those measurements would fit ALL the time!!

Well, if nothing else shopping is going to be quite the adventure as I lose weight. And I have to admit, if I ever tried on a size 4 and it actually fit I would buy it

I'm 5'5" (and a half if you're counting). I currently weigh 149 and am a UK size 8-10 on top, 12 on bottom. A 12 is a US 10 I believe (thanks Mami and your new signature picture is amazing by the way - good luck on getting back there) so I figure that makes me a 6/8 top.

When I was 135 I was was definitely a UK 8 on top and a 10-12 bottom. I figure that to be a US 6 all over I'd probably have to weigh 120 but I am a smallish build. I have absolutely no intention of doing it.

Going just by waist measurement you can have dramatically different body shapes-- poochy stomach? wide hips? big booty? nothing big? The same pair of pants isn't going to fit all the different bodies even if their waists and inseams are identical.

I'm 5' 3.5" & weigh 163 and I wear a size 14 Petite. IN SOME THINGS... some things I wear a 12 or even a 10. I wear XL, L, and even some M's. It's just so darn weird!

I do wish that women's clothes were sized by measurement... however, I must say that there are a few stores (like Guess) that size their pants by measurement and it doesn't work either! I have a 28 inch waste, but when I try on the 28 inch pants, they still don't fit because the part of the pants that is 28 inches sits on the widest part of my hips, about 6 inches lower than where my waist is!

And this is why vanity sizing is so successful.

I'm 5'6 and weigh about 138 pounds and am a size 6 on bottom and a 4 on top. I've actually gained weight but firmed up a lot and not changed in size...putting it down to an increased amount of running and spinning.

I have really muscled legs and that'll sometimes make buying pants a frustration as they wont fit around the thigh and will be baggy around the waist. *shrugs* I don't care...i'd much rather have the muscle! hehe
