What would a 6 or 7 weigh?

Hello all!

Yesterday while shopping at this giant kids clothes consignment shop (they have it once a year to support several charities) the people running it announced that there would be an adult conignment shop this June, and "those of you size 6 and 7 will be especially in luck as there are a lot in those sizes!"

So, I was wondering, what would a size 6 or 7 weigh? I'm 5'5 and have a small frame, what do you guys think I would have to weigh to be a 6 or 7? Now, I know I am just totally fantasizing, and I don't want to lose weight too quickly because the odds of it coming back would be too high........still, it would make for an interesting goal.....hmmmmmmm:dizzy:

TIA!!
Nancy

It's really going to vary by individual, we've done posts where people have listed their height/weight/size and it's very individual.

Currently, I am a size 6. I weigh 130 lbs, I'm 5'7" and I have a very small frame. I blame vanity sizing. 10 years ago, I would have been a size 10 at this height/weight combo.

I used to be a size 6 in the pic in my signature at 128 lbs and 5'2". I have small bones but relatively large muscles. I think you'll find a huge variation in size vs. weight.

Amen to that! I'm 5'8" and 140 and am a size 6. 10 years ago I was 128 and a size 8. Darn vanity sizing!!! (I guess I shouldn't complain though!)

It's so true, it really does vary. I was a size 6 about 10 years ago. I'm 5'5" and I weighed 130-135. I'm not small framed though.

I'm 5'7" and a little over 150. I wear an 8.

I'm 5'2" and 147 lbs. I wear a size 14 Petite. Go figure!

I'm 5"2 1/2 and weigh 122. I wear a 4 or sometimes a 2 when I've been very, very good, but a 6 on top. I'm medium framed (haha, except my height!) but very muscular. A zillion years ago when I was 115lbs, 26 years ago, I wore a size 8 but I wasn't doing any weight training then, just running about 50 miles a week and eating virtually nothing. Not healthy!

I am 5'2 1/2" and weight 135.5 and i am in a size 6/8 but in formal wear (bridesmaid dress) it is a 10/12 (haven't been to a fitting since October)

At 135 lbs I have been a size 8 and at 132 lbs I am a size 4. (The exercise thing, like Mel said)
I'd suggest trying a bunch of stuff on. Go to stores and second hand stores and see. Make sure you're well armed with size knowledge. The you'll be able to clean up at the consignment sales.

You and I are the same height, so I hope this helps.

When I was in college, I weighed about 170-180, and wore a size 14. Sometimes I could sqeeze into a size 12 depending on the manufacturer, but for the most part, I was a 14. Of course, that was a gazillion years ago.

In law school, I lost about 30 pounds and got down to a size 10 at 150 lbs. I pranced around in size 10 shorts all during the summer after my first year and rode my bike everywhere. I still felt fat, but I also felt much healthier. But that too, was many moons ago.

Of course, sizes have changed significantly over the years. A size 0 is what was once a 2, a 2 is a former 4, and so on. Using that ratio as a guide, I would ballpark your size today to be around a modern day 9/10, which should make a 6/7 within striking distance if you keep up your good work.

Congrats on your losses so far!

I am 5'4" without shoes and was a size 4-6 when I weighed around 125. I am medium framed, by the way.

I'm 5'2, and I wear a size 6. I currently weight 132 lbs, but I'm still a size 6 even when my weight fluctuates (anywhere from 125 lbs to 135 lbs).

At my heighest weight, 155, I wore a size 12.

And vanity sizing sure doesn't help bleh. At my current weight, I'm a size 4 at Old Navy, a size 6 at Anne Taylor, a size 10 at J. Jill.... :?:

It WOULD be lovely if they stopped with the vanity sizing, especially how the clothes do fit differently depending on where you shop. Banana Republic's non-jean pants are really vanity based I think, where I tend to shop for pants LOL. They should have standard measurements for different sizes required.

At 5' 4", I got to 140 just before I got pregnant and was starting to fit into 8's. I've been 148 for awhile now though and wear 10's.
