So glad I found this thread! I love 3FC. I'm 4.5 months postpartum and stuck. I did a juice fast/raw food for 10 days at the end of May, and lost 7 lbs. I decided today to go back to all raw for the rest of June. Still have a few foods I need to go through gradually (I hate wasting!), but I'm already feeling better.
What I did for my juice fast was
Breakfast: carrot/celery/apple/lemon juice sometimes with ginger juiced in and sometimes other things like raw summer squash or bell peppers
Lunch: HUGE raw meal-- salad, 2-3 pcs fruit, and dates stuffed with almonds
Dinner: same as breakfast
Before bed: HUGE green smoothie

I had been having some health issues ever since I gave birth, and they really got a WHOLE lot better after doing this for 10 days (and my milk supply didn't suffer with all these great nutrients coming in). I also drank a lot of dandelion root tea to try and gently detox my liver, so I'm sure that helped a lot. I felt so good and the weight has stayed off, but no more has come off. So... I want to get another 20-30 lbs off this summer in case I get pregnant again (I get pregnant REALLY easily, usually when the last baby is 7-8 months) .

How are y'all doing at raw? I have so many supportive friends who are into raw. They're always cheering me on. My sweet husband makes green smoothies for breakfast for us and the kiddos every morning. He's so supportive of raw too, and my kids LOOOOVE their fruit and veggies (probably because they see us heartily chowing down on them!).

Anyway, so glad to find you all! Please post recipes if you have good easy ones. I'm kind of a purist (I'd be happy with guacamole on lettuce leaves and a ton of fruit every day), but sometimes it's nice to have some variety.

Wow, hi! It's really nice to see other people replying who are also interested in trying to eat mostly raw.

I've been eating pretty simply still. Lots of fruit in the morning and afternoon, then if I feel like having a huge salad for dinner, I will make one. My salads are definately huge too, I get a kick out of seeing peoples eyes bulge if they happen to see me when eating it outside while enjoying the warm air.
If I don't feel like salad for dinner though, I'll just eat more fruit. I don't see anything wrong with skipping a day of salad here or there.
THe fruit I've been eating has mostly been melons and of course bananas. I LOVE watermelon and cantelope!! I can't wait until the watermelon gets a little cheaper and I'm especially looking forward to cherries becoming cheaper too. Then my days will be filled with eating mostly cherries!lol

Zoesmoma~ How it is going now since you were hoping to be able to eat more raw in June? I especially love the summer months for raw eating! I started the raw eating in the spring and it's getting better and better as the days warm up. I don't know how it will be once fall and winter start up, but I hope I can keep it all up like I am now.

mom2mollie~ Congratulations on your little one! You know.. I've always had the hardest time losing weight after having my babies. It always took until I stopped nursing to begin to drop any weight.
I like seeing others who really like green smoothies. I LOVE green smoothies! Out of myself and my family, I have to say that it's only myself and my 4yr old who love them the most. My younger teen likes them only when I make them a certain way. My older teen is turned off by them just by the look and lets that affect how she thinks they taste. She loves smoothies, just not green ones.lol

remee-- thanks for the encouragement! I started another semi juice fast today, just to refocus and maybe jumpstart some more weight loss. I find that the more raw food I eat, my body adjusts to the high nutrient level, and I need fewer calories the more I eat raw. I also find I need to drink less water because of the high water content of the fruit and veggies. That totally helps me, because I often get to the end of the day and find I've forgotten to drink much water.

Doing great and lost another 2 lbs. The semi-juice fast works SO WELL. Hoping to reach goal by sometime in September... I'd like to be below 170 by my anniversary in 3 weeks. Seems like an easy goal with the weight just falling off when I do raw foods.

I'm having trouble giving up my morning coffee, though-- can't believe I'm still drinking coffee on a juice fast, lol!
Got lots of cookouts this weekend, too, so needing to be really strict this week so I can have fun IN MODERATION this w/e.

Hope everyone else is doing well. The thing about eating mostly raw is that I feel SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD!!!! And I seem to need to eat less because my body is getting so many great nutrients and so much great fiber.

By the way, also trying to do light weights (5 lbs) on my arms every other day, and jump on the rebounder 15-30 minutes every other day. Trying not to push myself too hard, because if I fail, I'll just quit, so every other day seems like a doable goal. Especially because I'm chasing 3 tiny ones around all day, too!!

I guess I'm sort of doing a raw food diet thing right now. I basically drink two fruit smoothies (1 for breakfast, 1 for lunch) with some protein powder mixed in and then dinner I do eat a lean meat such as chicken or steak but only a small portion and a salad with green vegetables. Maybe this isn't "raw" enough to be considered a raw diet but the only thing being cooked each day is the meat.

Stuffedbunny, the cool thing about doing raw is that you don't have to do it100%! The more you incorporate, the better you feel... that's the idea. Great job! Hope it's working well for you.

Have you added greens to your smoothies yet? Added nutrition, and you can't taste them.

I've thought about it but I'm still getting use to smoothies. Not sure what sort of greens would work with my fruit smoothies and which would blend well.

Spinach works great in smoothies. I have one every morning, as a matter of fact, although leafy greens in general (kale, red leaf lettuce, etc...) work well, too. No taste, just an interesting color.

Well, there is a taste...everything has a taste, and raw kale certainly has a strong one! It's not an unpleasant taste to those who like fruits and veggies, but there is certainly a taste! I love green smoothies, personally and would suggest spinach as a good choice for those just starting out.

You can taste them? I never pick up on it, although if I get lazy blending them I DO get a texture effect that I don't like.

Yes, I sure can and I'm not alone!

< Chef's palate (a non smoking Chef at that!) and I also have very picky clients and discerning kids who also pick up on even the baby spinach (they like it too though).

I suppose how much one puts in factors in to this highly as well. I put in a full serving per smoothie because I figure, well, what's the point otherwise?

Romaine has a fairly innocuous taste, and if you just start with one or two leaves, you're still getting lots of great nutrients. And romaine doesn't usually change the color like other greens do (if that freaks out older children). Eventually, you can add more and work your way up. I have to add greens to all my smoothies now, because I just think what's the point if I'm not gonna throw in a ton of vitamins?

My personal favorite is kale, but I have a vitamix, so I can get a texture like a milkshake. After I got my vitamix, I realized that up until then, we had been drinking "green chunkies" LOL! Victoria Boutenko says you should always take off the stems of your greens, because they add bitterness. I've found that especially true with kale and chard.

Lost another pound! Had my carrot/celery/apple/lemon juice for breakfast, and a huge salad for lunch with some of Ani Phyo's "flax pancakes." Off to have a grapefruit for dessert.

I started raw yesterday! Or well, I ate a whole wheat tortilla wrap yesterday and I will be eating lobster claws in a few minutes for supper, but that's it for cooked things!

Today I had:
Breakfast: Cantaloupe and pineapple fruit salad
Snack: Handful of raw cashews + dried cranberries
Lunch: Mixed greens with tomatos, corn and black beans
Snack: red pepper strips and baby carrots
Dinner: To be determined, but lobster + salad looks to be in the works

I'm a little surprised though because my skin has started to break out already. I was expecting this due to toxin cleansing but I figure it'd take around a week or so, not 24 hours!! Anyone else find this as well?

Yes, my detox is usually days 1-3. After about day 4 I start feeling calm, clean, sharp.
Way to go!

I had a rough weekend-- couple of birthday parties and father's day foods. I made a raw mango cobbler that everyone raved about (yeah!), and tried to stay near the salad and fruit trays as best I could. Back on the wagon this morning.

Breakfast: carrot/celery/apple/lemon juice
Lunch: guacamole on bell peppers and raw flax crackers, leftover mango cobbler, grapefruit
Dinner will be more juice
Snack will be green smoothie before bed

My mom and sister helped me take my 3 little ones (3 yrs old and under) to the zoo on Friday. I was doing GREAT in the heat (usually start feeling faint when it gets over 90), I think from all the clean foods I've been eating.

Keep it up, y'all!!
