Hi Kuk and welcome

I've only been 'here' for a few weeks but it's a lovely group and as you say it's very inspirational. Good luck with your weight loss and keep us posted as to how you're getting on.

I'm sure you'll do fine - getting fit enough to have a comfortable pregnancy and then run around after a new baby is a LOT of motivation.

Welcome! I'm sure you'll do well - people here are so supportive! I got my figure back within a few months between babies 4 & 5 (the earlier ones was a different story!) and was royally irritated when I promptly got pregnant again! Took me 3 years to get round to losing the weight after my last (and final) baby... Makes a big difference to your health during pregnancy if you go into it from a 'normal'-ish weight. So kudos to you!

I'm doing low cal - but I'm sticking to low GI foods as well - just so that I need never feel hungry. I used to do just low cal but I always got that weird blood sugar slump thing in the afternoons - low GI has done away with that.

I did a weird hybrid of Rosemary Conley, Paul McKenna and interval training (run-walk alternately). Like Sarah, also keep an eye on GI.

I started at almost 14 stone, so could lose weight on 1600 cal a day. Now, I'd only lose weight around 1400. So long as you remember to keep adjusting it as you go down, you should be fine! Sarah and others here have had success with zigzagging calories and think I might give that a go to shift this last few lbs.

Yes, I'm still zigzagging - I have extra cals at the weekends and on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. The theory is that it stops the body getting used to a fixed level of incoming calories and adjusting itself so that amount is all it needs to maintain - kind of keeps it guessing It all averages out over the week to just over 1600 cals per day.

Irrespective of the theory, its nice to have a few extra calories to play with at the weekends and on my husband's day off - even if it means that I eat a few less on the other days of the week.

If you're aiming for 1750 a day, eat 1650 one day, then 1850 the next... You can play with the calorie amounts each day as long as your calories for the week average out at 1750 a day.

It's quite interesting since it means that you only have a few really hungry days and your body doesn't get all starved and make you want to eat chocolate cake!

This is a very interesting article about zig zag dieting and combining that with fat loss and muscle gain.

I learned a lot I didn't know before:
