Have a lovely time in Aus Kyk and good luck for the match! :D

Ooh and how long will you be gone?

kykaree 06-18-2006 10:15 AM

I'm back in the country on Saturday June 8th and back at work on the Monday, though where my brain will be at that point is anyone's guess!!!!

Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!

My flag is looking very wet!

Homersmummy 06-18-2006 11:00 AM

I'm going to put on this week for sure. I went to a friends birthday party yesterday. Although I didn't eat anything but a few onion ring crisps and a few nut things, I drank loads. :( But, I was going to have the day off the diet whatever!
I will be good, so hopefully it will not be too much. :)

YP1 06-18-2006 05:53 PM

We won a match and I got my Sweaty Betty top! I'm actually in a good mood after a Wigan game for a change :)

Bizarrely my appetite seems to have disappeared today. My run should have burned over 1000 calories, but I seem to have wanted to eat less than normal which is really strange. I was hungry when I got back but apart from that I've been strangely indifferent to food all day.

Long may it continue!

kykaree 06-19-2006 12:17 AM

Yay Wigan!!!! And yay tops, and you strange woman trekking all the way to the trafford Centre only to buy a running top!!! Oh vey, the extent of your madness.

Well that's it from me folks, I'm off - like bucket of prawns in the sun!!

I'll miss you all!!!!

Pachyderm 06-19-2006 05:06 AM

Well it sounds like you've all had very energetic weekends. I'm running in the week and (mostly) resting on the weekends so I can't say anything that sounds very impressive. I was very sluggish on my walk/jog this morning. I have started the official week 2 of the C25K programme (although actually week 3 of running) and realised (with the aid of a stopwatch for the first time) that I have been doing week 2 (virtually) all along :( That said, I don't understand why I was so sluggish today. I jogged veeerrry slowly and had no energy or enthusiasm - one of the dogs was the same.

I was very bad on Friday, we took my sister and her bf out to celebrate getting their degrees. We went to a very expensive restaurant in a very beautiful location, with appalling service and the biggest portion sizes I have ever seen in my life. Of course I didn't feel I could leave anything, and by the time I got home I felt so bloated and uncomfortable and my stomach was sticking out so far that I just felt like crying  :ink: I've been very good since though, and have still managed to lose my 2lb for this week. I'm glad that I've managed to keep myself on track, but I have had a lot more cravings this weekend than normal. I don't know whether it is psychological, due to the diet coke I had, or maybe the fatty foods.

Pachyderm 06-19-2006 05:07 AM

Have a great time in Aus Kykaree!

veggie 06-19-2006 07:33 AM

Bye bye Kyk

peacock 2 06-19-2006 07:49 AM

Well, I will have you know that acording to the Beeb's weather thingy - we are 22oC today and Sydney is 18oC. Not sure where Kyk is going to though.

Pachyderm 06-19-2006 07:55 AM

Yes, tis now winter in Oz. Northern Australia will presumably still be pretty hot though.

Sarah Ann 06-19-2006 11:43 AM

OMG, did I make a mistake today!!!

I had promised to go to this circuit training class at a local pub which has been turned in to a sort of community centre, so I thought (for no good reason) that it was not going to be up to much so I decided to do my normal 2 hour walk with the dogs and an hour long upper body workout/abs/stretches session.

I dragged my neighbour along to keep me company and when we got to the ex-pub and there was a large group of 'older' ladies. My neighbour and I had a chat and decided that it would be embarrasing to just walk out so we'd just stay for the class then go on to the gym. Then this lean, tanned, whirlwind of a woman came hurtling in - it was the instructor and she is is totally and completely FABULOUS. Both her body and face looked to be about 30 until you get up close and can see a few lines around the eyes - you could have scraped me up off the floor when she told us she was 63!!!!

She worked us really, REALLY hard - we did 30 mins aerobics, 30 mins salsacise and, just when I thought I couldn't do any more, she launched in to 30 mins resistance training with those stretchy band things. I am completely shattered. All for £1.20.

I'm definitely going next Monday afternoon but I won't be lifting weights in the morning.

peacock 2 06-19-2006 12:11 PM

wow! bargain!

Are you going again??!

YP1 06-19-2006 02:17 PM

Wow Sarah, that sounds like an impressive workout! I did half an hour of weights and a half hour swim this morning, nothing too strenuous because it's a semi-rest day.

I really seem to have lost my appetite over the past couple of days, I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm not complaining! I'm still eating what I plan to eat, but I'm not feeling the need to snack (I usually give myself a fair bit of leeway to eat a couple of unplanned snacks each day - usually fairly healthy stuff but so I don't feel like I'm entirely stuck on what I've got planned.

Tonight I've made a nice big salad and I've got some lentil and veg balls I made yesterday in the oven, then probably just fruit.

I think I might have signed up to play netball for work, I haven't played netball for years and I'm starting to get worried about what I've let myself in for!

Sarah Ann 06-19-2006 04:41 PM

Yes, I'll go again and so will my neighbour. I never thought I could ever enjoy aerobics as much as I did this afternoon, even though my legs still feel a bit wobbly and its left me incredibly hungry!

I have to go back anyway, I never got to ask the instructor any of the questions I need an answer to.

Helen - netball???????? Urghhh! Its taken me months to realise that my lifelong hatred of all sports/exercise stems back to team sports at school.... netball in particular. BTW, your meals always sound so nice - I'd love to eat more veggie meals but I can't be bothered to prepare two different dinners for me and DH - bless him, he never complains and he eats all my lovingly prepared low GI meals (every day), the two oily fish meals per week and an occasional veggie meal or two per month so it doesnt seem fair to ask him to give up even more of his beloved meat/chicken. He's even given up kebabs and fish 'n' chips for me. Must be

kykaree 06-19-2006 08:16 PM

It's your foreign correspondent here. I am in Singapore taking advantage of the free internet and killing some time before my next flight in about 2 hours time. It's quite cool here, for Singapore anyway, and its raining.

I am going to be in Melbourne for a week, which makes Sydney's 18 degrees look enviable, it'll be freeezing. And in true travelling tradition, I forgot something....my winter fleece  which is on the back of the chair in the kitchen! :(

Then on to Hobart which will be colder still, then Adelaide which should be fairly mild, then ending my travels in Sydney.

So far so good, I have only eaten plane food, no naughty snacks in the airports. I can't wait to get to Melbourne, only 7 more plane hours to go!!!!

I miss you all already, wish I could have brought you all with me!!!!

BritinNJ 06-19-2006 10:32 PM

Have a wonderful time Kyk...I'm sure someone will be able to lend you a fleecy once you get home, Singapore sounds quite nice, was it humid? It's rather hot here today, and will be all week...110-112...I'm a very brown berry, thank God for the pool in the back garden, it's my saviour in this state.

Sarah, I think I would have crawled out of that place after all that... the woman sound fab. I have been alternating between curves and a DVD of the core workout, curves I can handle no probs, but the core, makes me ache in places I didn't know could ache...it's all good though.

And even though I'm a chunky monkey all over, when I was in my cossie the other day in a friends pool, my friend commented that she can see the beginnings of a six pack....that made my day :)

Ok, must go and put the bin out and water some plants as the sun is setting....have a good one all.

peacock 2 06-20-2006 04:34 AM

Wow Kyk! What a doll! Traelling and she still finds time to send us a post. What a sweetie!

micheleherts 06-20-2006 01:20 PM

Lovely to hear from you Kykaree.

I dont' think I will ever be able for long haul travel. Even though I hope to do
the Inca Trail someday. I take a valium just to fly to Ireland. I've never seen
an airplane toilet. The furthest I've flown is to several of the Greek Islands
which are four hours away. I don't talk eat or wee whilst travelling. Oh what
an interesting travelling companion I am!!!

I've had an absolute crap day at work. Upset myself and cried and consequently have a coldsore developing on my lip. I am a soppy sod.
I am going out with my friend later to walk her dog Ken.

Take care everyone

Michele

YP1 06-20-2006 03:17 PM

Hello Kylie in case you pop in again!!!

I had a good run this morning, 4 miles along the canal which felt far better than most of my runs recently. I was meant to be doing intervals on the treadmill but they were all taken so I just went out and ran. Tomorrow is 7 miles so I'll be setting my alarm half an hour earlier than normal, I'm getting into a bit of a pattern on Wednesdays to fit my long midweek run in.

Work was busy today, but I coped with the help of a little Green and Blacks. I wasn't impressed though that they've increased the size of their little bars in Boots to 30 or 35 grams (I can't remember which). Luckily Holland and Barrett are still selling the 20g ones - on the basis I eat the whole bar I'd rather buy a small one than a bigger one!

peacock 2 06-21-2006 04:11 AM

Awww Michelle - everyone gets days like that, don't they?

My friend had a crap day recently - it was a sunday and we were both working! She had more student papers to mark and I was typing a report but we decided to go for a drink Once we had found a quietish pub not filled with En-Ger-Land fans we were happy ...for a few hours.

Of course dog walking is less calorific than drinking!!! I think that is a good idea.

PhatPhoenix 06-21-2006 05:28 AM

Ken is a brilliant name for a dog... Hope Ken cheered you up, Michelle!

Helen, my health food shop had both 20 and 35g Green & Blacks last week but this week, they only had the 35g. So I bet the smaller ones are being phased out? (Cadbury's took over G & B last year I think).

I had exactly the same reaction as you.. I ate a 20g bar most evenings as my 'treat' but the only way round it is to have a 35g every 2 days, I guess... although I've been doing my Paul McKenna again and actually haven't been able to face even Green & Blacks the past few days...

Sarah Ann 06-21-2006 10:45 AM

Here at last! Has anyone else been having problems getting on to this website? All I kept getting was a Page Not Available warning.

Kylie - I hope you have a GREAT time.

Michele - I hope today has been better.

I started my new 'job' yesterday. Hmmmm - not sure that I'm going to get on well there - loads of petty stupidness. For instance I have to sign in THREE times in three separate books and I had to sign a request form for a pen and notepad which then had to be countersigned by two other people and had to be handed back to the person who gave it to me in the first place. D'oh! I think I might take my own stationery from now on. They are sponsored with a European Community regeneration grant which means they have to account for absolutely everything.... in quadruplicate. That wouldn't be so bad but it seems to me that they waste so much time talking about how to spend the money or what they've spent it on or what to do when they get some more of it that they don't actually get much done. Ive only done 4 hours and its driving me nuts already.

Thankfully today was a 'me' day - good 10 mile walk with the dogs, 20 HIIT cardio on the stationary bike and an hour in the gym doing a good LBWO. I had the gym all to myself so I really went for it and did my heaviest ever weights.

How about splitting up the chocolate and freezing it in little bits so it lasts longer - I do that with grapes and cherries occasionally. I did try the G&B chocolate but it didn't convert me in to a chocolate lover.

micheleherts 06-21-2006 12:26 PM

Hello everyone

Thank you for your kind words.

Today was much better thank god. Lip still throbbing like mad and I am smothered Zovirax.

We had a great old walk last night with Ken the dog. My friend and I came
across a toad which we oooh and ahhed over until I said Mand I think it's
dead she said of course it isn't I said I'd say its very dead. Anyway we carried on for our walk when we returned there it was still there it must have died in that spot a few feet away from a bit of a swamp oh how sad was that.
No sign of injury I think he just took his last hop!!

My day off tomorrow thank god.

I am off to the gym shortly.

Have a lovely evening everyone

Take good care

Michele

YP1 06-21-2006 02:38 PM

I suspected that the 20g bars were being phased out :( Buying a bigger one and dividing it just won't work for me. I've learned from experience that buying small quantities at a time is the only way I can moderate my chocolate intake. (Sometimes I buy bigger quantities anyway though ;) )

I had a good run this morning, 7.6 miles before work at a pace I was far more happy with than my recent longish run paces. I also kept going the whole way without a walk break which is more than I've managed recently.

I've just had a bean omelette with a mixed veg and tomato stew that I chucked leftover green beans, carrots and courgettes into. Omelette for lunch at work tomorrow probably as it was really nice and I still have half left.

impossible princess 06-21-2006 04:40 PM

Ouchee well my bunion has been killing all day I'm having that shoe buying problem again I want some really secure and comfy sandals for my holiday and i went everywhere. Evans now for some reason prob cos of the heat and my bunions getting worse are coming up too small size 4s, 5s are too big so I went to clarks and the 4 1/2s some were too wide some weren't wide enough and there were none just right. :( I must have tried on 30 pairs today. So annoyed. So I've got one foot with the blister from **** which has now burst and is bleeding and another one with a big bunion. heehee I'm such a moaner. IT is annoying though cos I want to exercise.

kyk hope you have a good time
YP I've never tried a really vegetable omelette might have to try a bean one that sounds amazing.
Michelle hope your lip feels better soon

 Hope you're having a great time in Aus Ms Kylie! :D

I had a nice time in Nice - warm but not too swealtering! I got my legs out in my bright orange shorts and my teeny denim ones too! I wore my bikini to the beach... Under my T-shirt and shorts - it suddenly turned cold when we decided to go for a swim!

I managed 3 out of 5 days with angelic  eating, and yesterday I was so tired and so bored wating for our delayed Eurostar that I ended up face-down in our bag of snacks that we'd bought from Monoprix!

However BEFORE that I was feeling quite skinny! I'm staying off the  scales till Monday!

I've got kickboxing tonight :hyper: and hopefully I'll have enough energy after 2 nights on a sleeper train :tired: and 6 hours sleep because of delayed Eurostar. :tantrum: I feel ok now though, so I SHOULD be ok!

I'm revamping/rescheduling my workouts next week in order to fit in half-marathon :faint: training, some personal training (for my bestest bridesmaid :D ) and belt gradings and some sleep!

Pachyderm 06-22-2006 04:53 AM

Glad you had a nice time in Nice Frus. I can't wait until I feel comfortable bearing my legs in public ;) Mind you, I haven't done it for so long that I will probably blind everyone with their whiteness :p .

You seem to have a very active few days planned! I'm being very lazy today as I hurt my knee yesterday when running over rough ground :( . Hopefully it will be better in time for my run tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone :)

Sarah Ann 06-22-2006 06:55 AM

Hi everyone

Glad you had a nice time, Jen - what happened to my postcard???? ;)

I've just had a big shakeup of my exercise schedule (in fact the shakeup was for all my schedule) and I don't seem to have any time to myself any more. :(

In fact I got so over busy that I sent someone who bought one of my items on eBay the wrong item by mistake - she must have been delighted - she won and paid for a £10 top and received my £65 top instead - same size, same colour but it had been destined for my wardrobe not hers.... I've emailed her about exchanging it but I don't expect to get a reply :(

How weird is this? We've had someone in a grey car sitting outside our house for the last couple of days and everytime me, DH or any of the neighbours go towards the car to ask what they are doing they drive off and then come back a bit later. Whoever it is uses their mobile phone a lot and/ or a little dictation machine. Creepy!

Pachyderm 06-22-2006 07:10 AM

That is so creepy. Have you thought about calling the police?

Sarah Ann 06-22-2006 07:22 AM

I'm waiting for DH to come home - he finishes work at 2 - and I've rung the neighbours on both sides to get everyone together - see if we can find out what's going on. One of the neighbours has just been told that its an expensive car. (I don't know anything about cars).

TBH, It wouldn't surprise me if they've got the wrong address, there's another road in the village with a similar name and the people that live in that road at the same house number as me are benefit fraudsters - claim lot of benefits but also work for cash in hand. It wouldn't be the first time we've had something like this happen.

2frustrated 06-22-2006 07:37 AM

That sounds exciting! Maybe they'll come to the conclusion that they're moonlighting as a personal trainer ;)

I didn't send any postcards! I am particularly lazy about that!

We spent most of our afternoons napping and our nights were early and our mornings were late! My kinda holiday!

It's buffet for lunch. I am slightly apprehensive, however I don't think I could eat a pork pie if it threatened to kick my ***! :barf: Too much fatty stuff yesterday! Now if it was a chocolate... then that would be a different story! I just hope there's a nice sandwich that I can nibble on, rather than crappy egg or BLTs or some such rubbish!

Sarah Ann 06-22-2006 07:53 AM

Ohhhhhhh BLT - I haven't had one of those for AGES! So long as the bacon is grilled and the fat cut off I would think a BLT on wholemeal would be quite healthy.

DH is working his way through all the weird and wonderful types of bread at the moment - he's got something called Vogel this week which contains linseeds. I've decided not to bother with bread any more - every time I eat I puff up and I feel a bit strange. I don't know if its the wheat or yeast - or even something else thats in it. I don't think it could be the wheat because I haven't noticed it swelling up when I have pasta, bulghar wheat or couscous.

We're trying out a new recipe this evening - roasted peppers with fetta and olives and roasted baby new potatoes. Its supposed to be an cooked-all-in-one dish meal but there's not enough protein in it for me so we're having it with some haddock roasted on a bed of herbs and lemon and a mixed green salad grown in my own garden (this year's first!)

2frustrated 06-22-2006 08:09 AM

Can I come for tea? That sounds lovely!

It'll be a post-workout Quorn sausage for me and maybe something like a protein shake when we get home.

BTW the sandwiches are from Sainsbury's. :dunno: A blt just doesn't appeal today. I might end up with a small piece of pork pie and a sandwich before I actually have my "proper" lunch!

Sarah Ann 06-22-2006 08:45 AM

I can't eat pork pie any more. It used to be a favourite of mine but I had a mouthful at a buffet lunch the other day and, for some reason, I just couldn't swallow it. Something to do with the texture, I think. Actually, it tasted pretty yuck as well - very salty.

We've just discovered the delights of a herb called sorrel. Its brilliant for cooking fish in or on top of - it has a sort of lemony spinach flavour. Goes great in omlettes and low carb quiche - and it grows SO easily.

peacock 2 06-22-2006 08:53 AM

My Brother and I had a lovely soup in a veggie cafe in Colchester which had Sorrel in ti.

Apparnelty my friend told me that Poles and Russians use it a lot in cooking.

2frustrated 06-22-2006 08:57 AM

I've had half a blt sandwich, which was quite nice and a couple of pork pie tiny pieces, then a glass of orange... I feel so stuffed! I won't be having my proper lunch on top of this! :barf:

I used some lemon rosemary... maybe that was sorrel??

peacock 2 06-22-2006 08:59 AM

For them as wants to know about SOrrel

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorrel

veggie 06-22-2006 02:14 PM

Sarah maybe the grey car person is using someones wireless internet. :p

impossible princess 06-22-2006 02:20 PM

Maybe it is the police Sarah. Dunno if I mentioned it here but I had 6 police round the other day looking for our neighbour and before that I had noticed a car around so I wonder whether it was them.

They might be watching your neighbours for some reason or other. Might be worth ringing the police if you do see that car again then at least you'll know if itis them and if it isn't they can come round and have a look.
