Ok weigh in day tomorrow, please, please, please let there be a loss, I am fed up of being on this 'plateau' the veiw is not very nice.....I'll let you all know what those scales tell me tomorrow morning. I have been good all week, no binging so here's hoping :)

Posy 03-19-2003 02:36 AM

good luck Chris...I know exactly what the view from the plateau is, but don't get discouraged, just hang in there :)

Ali

Peacock 03-19-2003 07:29 AM

At last managed to get back in to post this. Had trouble accessing the site.

Well only 1 pound on which is not bad considering I was sulking because I did not think I "deserved" last week's gain. I went off the rails a bit.

Talking of which, after watching a couple of films, I past the old Hammersmith Odeon whatever it is called now (Labatts?). I had to cross over to avoid a HUGE amount of ageing Donny Osmond fans!

I know one or two of you have seen him recently. I hope you behaved with decorum (not like those Tom Jones fans, they are bad they are!).

Smiling Sal 03-19-2003 01:08 PM

I used to love Donny Osmond, but as I grew more sensible I bacame Duran Durans biggest fan. I would go and see them now if Roger Taylor was playing drums - he was gorgorous :) Not sure I would be decorus - not sure thats the right word, if indeed it is a word ?

cat90 03-19-2003 01:56 PM

oooh...what did the Tom Jones fans do? :nose: have'nt heard about this

BritinNJ 03-19-2003 06:49 PM

Wahoo! Those scales were lovely this morning, told me I have lost two whole pounds this week so hopefully I'm done with the plateau :)
Onto the next loss, I have a new little goal, I would really like another ten pounds gone by the end of April. I made my first goal of losing ten by mid Feb, so I feel sure it can happen again.
Here's wishing everyone else a good loss or remain the same this week too.

Posy 03-19-2003 07:08 PM

well done Chris great job :)

Ali

Smiling Sal 03-20-2003 04:16 PM

Well done Chris you deserve it

cat90 03-20-2003 04:53 PM

:bravo: Chris :cp: :balloons: :hat:

BritinNJ 03-20-2003 06:33 PM

Thanks girls. It's so nice to be cheered on. Big cheers for all of you too, whether losing gaining or staying the same. If it weren't for the support I get from reading all the great posts here, I would be a lot fatter I know for sure!

MadamDotty 03-21-2003 08:43 AM

Hi all

Didn't get weighed last week, wasn't able to go to class, but went last night and was quite pleased with my 3 lb loss. I'm finding with Rosemary Conley that's my loss is slow but steady, so i can't complain.

I'm now just 1½ lbs away from getting into the 10's and only 3 lbs from my first stone, so it's in sight. I'm starting to see and feel the difference in my clothes and people are noticing, which is great.

Well done Chris, it's horrible being stuck in a plateau, especially if you're doing everything right, hopefully it's all downhill from now on - if you see what I mean:dizzy:

Dotty

cat90 03-21-2003 04:13 PM

Madame Dotty..congrats on the 3lbs loss :cp:

Posy 03-23-2003 12:09 PM

Well done madam dotty...a slow loss is better than no loss :)

Well I was on such a high with the new size 12's that hubby bought me earlier in the week that I decided yesterday I would go into town again and look through the charity shops...the only problem with that was that I arranged to meet my friend from work....which meant I left the house before my regular weigh in time...I got on the scales before I left but that was 3 hours earlier than it should have been....the scales still said 11 stone 9lbs the same as last week....however, when I got home I weighed myself again, which was actually 3 hours later than I normally get weighed and the scales said 11 stone 7lbs making a loss of 2lbs....Well as my first weigh in was 3 hours early and my second was 3 hours late I decided to split the difference and call it a 1lb loss this week...I always weigh heavier in the mornings when I have just got up so I am confident that I did lose something this week, but I don't think it is fair to put down the full 2lbs that the scales showed on my second weigh in as it was so much later than it should have been...plus if the scales don't agree next week I would be more disappointed than I normally am...especially as TOM is due again next week...this time it is its regualr visit not the unexpected one like earlier in the week. :(

I am looking forward to next week, now that I have seen 11 stone 7lbs on the scale again I am filled with enthusiasm again to reach my goal instead of the dread that I have been feeling over the past few weeks with my fluctuating weight.

Ali

Smiling Sal 03-24-2003 04:55 PM

Gained a pound - not bad for a weekend away and that pesky TOM put in an appearance at lunchtime, by my reckoning it's nearly 10 days early and I am PMSing real bad - poor Rays life is **** at the moment.

Bless him, the only way he knows to cheer me up when I get like this is a chinese and a big bottle of wine - what else. Nice and slimming - not - but it will help me sleep - hopefully :)

Smiling Sal 03-24-2003 05:05 PM

The losses for this week are

BritinNj = -2lbs
Madam Dotty = -3lbs
Peacock = +1lbs
Posy = -1lbs
Sal =+1lbs

Giving us a loss of 4lbs.

Which gives us a total loss so far, of 97.5lbs , 6 stone 13.5lbs

Peacock 03-25-2003 05:41 AM

I gained one this week! No excuses. I am very bad.

Our club lady said to me " You haven't bothered this week". That is true. She wasn't being critical infact she was laughing. But in an effort to bring me back she looked through my record and said I have had some good weight losses.

I am trying to be good this week even though a friend has invited me to a Thai for lunch, then on Saturday a Danish friend is over and wants Chinese. Saturday morning I will be shopping in Kingston with another friend so that means coffeee and a naughty cake in Peter Jones. Well, I have to, it would be rude otherwise.....!

leigh-r 03-25-2003 11:18 AM

I have hit a plateau over the past several weeks of 1lb on 1lb off. No matter what I have done I haven't been able to get past it. So I am off to join slimming world this evening. I think it might be because I am bored of dieting on my own with no support.

cat90 03-25-2003 03:12 PM

Good Luck with Slimming World Leigh :) I've been thinking i need to do the same but i don't want to part the the moolah

leigh-r 03-25-2003 05:55 PM

Eek!! No-one told me that they announce who has lost and who has gained. I knew about those who have reached certain levels get certificates etc, but I don't like the thought of people being told what I have and haven't lost.

Start weight for sw is 17st exactly. So thats the same as when I saw the nurse yesterday as my trainers add a pound to me and I was 17st1 at the nurse with trainers. No trainers on at sw. Would still like to know how that compares with where I have been getting weighed previously. As if it is accurate then I have probably lost weight and got off my plateau.

But I will be returning to sw next week, I have been put down to lose 2lb!!

Peacock 03-26-2003 05:51 AM

Don't worry Leigh-r if you really don't want people to know you can ask them not to mention it. Only people that stay after the weigh in have their gains and losses read out. None of us are bothered as we are well and truly all in the same boat! It is obvious when some people who gained are bothered though as they miss a week!

Our class is fun although I cannot comment on other classes. Speak to whoever runs it. In you first week there, stay and see what it is like. If everyone seems supportive of those who gained, then I don't see you have a problem. If on the other hand they are all insufferable know alls who "know" exactly what to do and are always full of themselves and the leader is a pain and deadly serious or tells you off, then you don't have to stand there and take it. I wouldn't. At the end of the day it is down to you and gains must be expected as well as losses.

Our class is very relaxed, so much so that when someone else from SW - a higher leader, whatever they are called, threatens to visit, our leader gets in a tizz because we are so relaxed! All the other classes go in for quizzes but we prefer to chat about our week, what we did right (if anything) where we went wrong, questions about sin values and other people's meal suggestions.

Christmas time we got our our raffle money and spent it on booze and very non sin delicacies! We ate like women possessed! Had a few drinks too!

A lot of our lot love their booze (so does our leader. SHe is supposed to be maintaining, but has had quite a bit of liquid refreshment just lately, what with moving house and having housewarmings!).

Anyway I hope you do go and that you find it helpful -it may even be enjoyable!!!

BritinNJ 03-26-2003 07:18 AM

Another happy camper from NJ this week. Another two pounds gone (hopefully to stay gone forever). I feel really good as I set myself a mini goal for another ten pounds gone by the end of April and four of those are, so only six more to go and I feel sure I can do it. I have really had some good weeks eating. I am following in Ali's footsteps and eating veggies by the ton. They really do fill me up, and by having loads with dinner I find myself not even thinking about snacking in the evening, let alone actually doing it :)
Good luck to everyone else with their weigh ins this week and congrats to all who have already had a loss. Keep up the good work :)

leigh-r 03-26-2003 10:52 AM

I have lost 3lb, forgot to mention earlier about that.
I stayed for the whole of the class last night as I had to wait until the end for the leader to give me the booklets etc. Those that gained tried to hide when the leader announced they had gained. What you actually weigh is private, I just don't fancy the bit where she stands up and says these people have lost and these people have gained this week.
I personally plumped for sw as opposed to ww because of the cost & people's comments.

veggie 03-26-2003 01:42 PM

well done leigh :D

cat90 03-26-2003 03:09 PM

:cp: Chris and leigh-r :bravo: well done  :balloons:

Smiling Sal 03-26-2003 05:07 PM

Chris and Leigh well done :) :) :)

Leigh I wouldn't like people to know whenI had gained, although if I lost everyweek I would be a smug so-and-so and want them all to know that I was doing it. Then when I fell off my high horse and gained, I would be hiding in the cupbaord.

Personally I would ask the leader not to mention my loss / gain until I felt more comfortabel in the class - Go for it Leigh, you can do it

MelissaA 03-28-2003 04:04 PM

totally blew my diet and gained 3 pounds...I got married last week and all the healthy eating went out the window...LOL
Back on program today though...So, hopefully I will have a loss next week...:)

teel 03-28-2003 04:17 PM

YAY!!!! I had a session with my dietician today and I have managed another 1 1/2 lb loss, bringing my total thus far to 21lbs, which is my official target to lose so I can be put on the non-active transplant list should I need to be. For me though, I want to lose another 2 stone at least, so I'm still going to be OP!!Well, I'll try!!!

 :balloons: :drill: :cloud9: :dancer: :goodvibes :cb: :cp: :bravo:

MelissaA 03-28-2003 04:40 PM

Good for you Teel!!!

cat90 03-28-2003 06:49 PM

Melissa..CONGRATULATIONS on your marriage :balloons: :gift: and don't worry about the 3lbs its to be expected when you've something to celebrate..maybe you could take a page out of Ray's (Carol's husband) book and burn off some calories in bed :o
Did the day go well? Hope so! and wishing you both all the best for the future :)
Teel..great job :cp: and congrats on getting on the 'list' even though i hope you don't need it...onwards and downwards now.

Posy 03-29-2003 07:56 AM

Well done Teel fantastic job :)

Melissa congratulations to you both..have a very happy future together :)

Well as for my weigh in today....It again just goes to show me why I should NOT!!!! get on the scales so often...when todays weigh in time arrived, the scales showed a loss of 2lbs...I have finally broken that 161lb barrier that has been standing in my way since christmas, even with the iminent arrival of TOM, judging by the way I feel this morning that is likely to be in the next couple of days...So I have put myself through **** and misery since wednesday all for nothing.
I am feeling really good about this weigh in just because it was a good one and with TOM being so close now I really feel as though I have started to move again two weeks running I have showed a loss and that is with increasing my calories back up to 1250 a day :).
I can feel another shopping trip coming on this afternoon :)

Ali .... One very happy bunny today

Oh Posy, you bad girl you, for doing "the scale hop"!!

WELL DONE on the loss, but try and keep off them scales as they do loads of misery throughout the week. I KNOW!! I have days when I have been up a pound or two first thing in the morning and been so cross 'cos I know I have been OP, so I have a shower...never know how much all that dead skin weighs! and go to the toilet and get on the scales again:s: sometimes it works....but sometimes I'm EVEN HEAVIER than on the first weigh. You'd have thought I'd have learnt my lesson by now. I said I'd throw them scales out when I reached my official target....but I can't bear to part with them.....

:bravo: :cp: :gift: :hat: :lucky: CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. MARRIED MELISSA!!!!!We'll know where you are spending your time if you don't post that often for a few days!!!!!

Hello to SmilingSal and cat90 and TQ if you happen to lurk in....;)

cat90 03-29-2003 02:21 PM

Well done Ali :cp:
Teel..i know that 'scale' feeling all too well..i've done the scale 'jig' so many times you would thing i was a 'river dancer' and all to get a reading that i like :dizzy:

Posy 03-30-2003 04:34 AM

Sorry girls....I'm only human and I would rather give in to the temptation of jumping on the scales rather than the temptation of food :)
Teel I know what you mean too I think it will be impossible to throw my scales away, after so long jumping on them they feel more a part of me than my shoes :)

Hey Cathy, just think of all the exercise river dancers get. maybe we should incorporate the scale jig into our daily exercise program :)

Ali

leigh-r 03-30-2003 04:37 AM

Well done to all those who have lost this week.

Smiling Sal 04-01-2003 06:47 AM

Hello I haven't fallen by the wayside, have just been busy.

Managed to lose 2lbs this week, but some miracle, I didn't work very hard at it and didn't deserve it but I got it and I am keeping it off. Am going to be so on program this week it will be unbelievable.

Meant that I got my 10% key ring last night - has been a long time in coming, but I have reached it now

Congratulations to Melissa and to Teel for reaching that list and to Ali for being even lighter. And to everyone I missed

cat90 04-01-2003 05:55 PM

Well Done Carol :cp: you DO deserve it :smug: :D

leigh-r 04-01-2003 06:16 PM

:D I am well chuffed with meself. I actually lost a lb. Why am I chuffed?? I haven't exactly stuck to the sw on my first week. Plus TOM came to visit over the weekend. And I never lose weight on a TOM week. So I must have done summat right. Just imagine what I can do if I actually stick to the plan?? I am also now in a new stone :)

cat90 04-01-2003 06:30 PM

:cp: good job Leigh :)

Mini Gem 04-02-2003 06:10 AM

Well, it's been _ages_ since I last posted my weight in here. Truth to tell, there hasn't been much to say.

I took a break from following my diet for a few weeks, but (unusually for me) went to class anyway. I think this confused my class leader as well, she tried to get me to promise I'd lose a pound next week in front of the rest of the class (hate it when she does that) so I tried to explain that I was just coming along to class while I wasn't on plan so that I wouldn't stop coming all together. I don't know about anyone else, but if I start staying away and gain, I'm embarrassed to go back, so have to take a few more weeks off.

Anyway, I really don't know how, with all the rubbish I've been eating, but I stayed the same one week, put on 1lb two weeks running, and then lost 1lb this week. Making a grand total of a 1lb gain since I last posted my weight here.

Not sure how well I'm going to do this week because there's some Ben and Jerry's ice cream calling my name as I type! :D

Well done to everyone else on their losses, you're all doing great! :) :)

cat90 04-02-2003 01:29 PM

Sometimes i think it works that way because when you are trying to 'diet' food is constantly on your mind and is hard to resist but when you 'quit' its not an issue anymore and you don't want it as much  you probably have'nt been as 'bad' as you thought you had :) i don't think it was right of the leader to make you promise like that :( she should just give encouragement and make you want to take part not force you to
