I had a naughty treat tonight. And it was soooo goooodddd!! I went to Frankie and Bennys for tea. And had CALZONE PIZZA! Mmmmmm. :D Don't feel guily either because after my hard work put into my performance today i deserved a super-duper treat :D

I love this thread, I get so stressed out over meal ideas.

Tonight I had egg noodles with stir-fry veg and chicken breast all cooked in chicken stock with a giant cup of lemon green tea (I am addicted to green tea.) and then I had a portion of mango for dessert. Rather have had the calzone though.

I'm looking for a healthy calzone recipe atm. Thing I'm struggling most with is the base....any ideas?

I had chicken marinates in reggae reggae sauce with a big salad for tea :) Mmmmm so so yummy!

Tonight I didn't want to cook and heat up the kitchen, so it was an antipasto plate - sliced chicken, olives, light cheese wedge, some veg, and a side of nf Greek yogurt. I love finger foods :) Also, anything I can dip! (almost forgot - a healthy dose of hot mustard to dip in, I also love to almost cry because my food is so hot :))

I think the closest thing to a lighter base would be a wheat or low carb tortilla. Not quite the same as a proper calzone, but with the right filling, similar flavor I would think. I use tortillas as pizza bases a lot, really good!

Firstly, Missjessica...your tea sounds lovely!

And also, thanks. Thats what I was thinking. I'm gonna give it a try

Missjessica 04-08-2011 09:05 AM

I was thinking this morning about calzones :) And what about a whole meal pita bread??

Tonight is garlic chicken and cauli-mash :)

belmagick 04-08-2011 09:53 AM

Last night I had spanish chicken, which is basically chicken breast in a tomato and paprika sauce with chunky cherry tomatoes, olives and potatoes mixed it. It was store bought since I haven't figured out a good recipe yet. I ate half of that last night and the other half for lunch today.

I had it with mixed leaves salad (spinach, Rocket and red bok choy.) and two satsumas for an after dinner snack.

I like the pitta bread idea and the tortilla idea. I buy both every week so Ill try both and see which is best :D Probably do that one night next week as my boyfriend will be working late so I can just cook myself some tea. What do you think will be nice on it? I was thinking a little bit of cheese and tomato puree and some peppers, courgette, mushrooms, maybe a little chicken and sweetcorn? What do you think? If I make it on pitta bread/tortilla it'll be just the right size for me to have with salad :) saves having extra left over.

Also, I'm having lasagna for tea. :) One of my favs!!

Peacock Princess 04-08-2011 11:41 AM

Not sure but think it might be a curry. Only had a cuppa soup for lunch. Starving!

MusicalJess 04-08-2011 01:07 PM

Only a cuppa soup? I'd be starving too!!

Changed my mind about the tea! We're going out to a family do tomorrow night so lasagna is tomorrow cos its fairly quick. Jacket potatoes with salad and either chicken or meatballs. Not decided yet.

I had two farmers market sausages (lower fat than supermarket ones, as they contain lean meat and no 'filler' ingredients), sliced potato fried in Frylight, a rasher of bacon fried in Frylight and peas.

MusicalJess 04-08-2011 01:51 PM

That sounds like good stuff. :) I'm really jealous

TBH, I'm not to crazy about the fried potatoes, but they are lower fat than oven chips. I'm doing the Rosemary Conley, so have to count both fat and calorie values. The sausages are kind of a cheat as there's no way they could contain less than 5% fat. They were lush, though! :D

I think this makes me want to be at your house instead of mine! :D

I also changed my meal and ended up with spinach with spicy mince and onions. Almost like lettuce wraps, but with spinach instead. I really do like to eat with my hands ;)

I've not felt full all day and the mince did it. Yay protein! :goodvibes

@georgeshair: I get the Rosemary Conley mag every month! Theres not a class near me otherwise I'd love to go. How does it work? I bought the AILP book but have only had a quick glance so far...I love the recipes in the mag :D

@Missjessica: That sounds yummy. You should try it out too :D I love pizza so much. I don't really like the cheese though. But pizza is not pizza without cheese on top...
