Talking Help me!!!

Hello Everyone,

Tonight I have looked in the mirror at my monster body and decided enough is enough!! So, have just joined this forum in the hopes of getting tips and motivation!

With my job I rarely get the same days off week in week out so would be a waste of money going to a class...as I know I wouldnt be able to go on a regular basis. Have got all the books for Slimming World (from a now very skinny work collegue) and am going to have a good old try! Cant have the glamour girls look me up and down any longer!

Does anyone out there not go to a class??

TrolleyDolly!

Hi TrolleyDolly Welcome, you've come to the right place, there's loads of us on here who don't attend classes but have attended enough in the past to probably run them..

You'll find loads of advice here, we're a lovely bunch of coconuts..come and join in the monthly Feb chat thread, tell us how your day is going and what you've been up to and we'll give support in any way we can

Welcome TrolleyDolly
As Britin says the whole forum is fabulous, full of supportive people with a world of slimming knowledge...have you had a look at the posts where people have reached their goal? Very inspirational...keeps me going when I feel like diving in the biscuit tin.

I too don't go to a class and I find I don't really need to with this forum, whenever I feel down heartened, or I have a question or I just want to talk dieting (I have bored my hubby silly talking calories, carbs, fat grams, exercise etc) I come here and I always find what I want.

Good luck with your weight loss

Boo x

Thank you!

Am so glad I found this forum - How lovely is it?! Have been reading a few posts this morning and I feel like I could get enough motivation together to actually start going to the gym (ooh little bit of sick in my mouth) I hate the gym...but everyone here it as it and seems to be helping loads.

Thanks for the welcome messages...

Ello. I don't go to classes or the gym, either! Lost my 40lb walking, gardening, exercise biking, real bikings, swimming with the kids, etc etc.

Best thing I found was this site with its beginners running programme:

http://www.girlsruntoo.co.uk/GirlsRu...me/default.asp

And it took me a year but I went from almost 200lb to in the top 150s. I have PCOS which means the average woman would probably have lost that same weight in 4-6 mths and with half the effort, so it is entirely possible even with serious health issues let alone without.

I found what I spent on that one pair of decent running shoes at the start was less than I'd pay for a gym, or a series of classes - so it was cheaper too. But we're all different and some people prefer classes or gym.

Just wanted to tell you it's possible to go it alone - well never entirely alone as you have support here but you know what I mean!

Hello from me as well, so far the only Slovenian girl here

I've been here for 8 days only, but have already gathered as much information and inspiration as I needed to start doing this.

Make sure you check out FitDay.com!!! It's a fabulous application for keeping track of your diet.

I wish you all the best at the beginning of your journey!

Hey PhatPhoenix and Fatbomb,

Hello to you too! I feel so encouraged and ready to go, thank you for your messages. All of your tips are most welcome.

In October I went to my doctor with something unrelated to diet/excercise and ended up checking my weight and was so shocked - so was she. As I am tall, you dont think when you look at me that I am medically obese! So have since had lots of bloody tests everything is fine with me... except for the fact I dont eat that much and I still cannot lose weight!! After reading a few things on dieting....maybe I dont eat enough and my motabolism is ruined? Because I fly at weird times, I dont have a routine and my body doesnt know if its coming or going....hence the reason for going on a diet. I think my body needs something structured. Who knows...time will tell.

At the minute I am away with work, so I have to go with what food I have here - which is nothing at the minute. Its very hard to control your diet when you have to eat out or with room service. I do, however, have my brand new Natalie Casiddy keep fit dvd...which I am about to try for the first time. Woo Hoo!

xx

Hello, I don't go to classes (lol I am from Cyprus and I have never heard of such luxuries). I went to a dietitian in Cyprus before coming in Leeds and I go to the gym. To vent and get the frustration out, I got you guys.

I don't go to class as such either, I do attend a Weight Management Service which is run by local hospital, but the meetings are only once a month, so your basically left to get on with it yourself.
I go walking every day ( well at least I try too lol) and I try to go swimming at least once a week too I'm hoping to start going to the gym soon too.

I've never gone to a class... I don't have the money to go at all. My boyfriend and that bikini sitting on the floor is all the motivation I need!

Aldebaran - Hello! Slovenia is lovely! One of my favourite holidays years ago was going to Slovenia. Lovely people, lovely scenery, lovely food (I was particularly fond of a big plum dumpling I had). It was huge! I thought it was the pudding course but no, we had anohter course after that. I was stuffed! I stayed in Hotel Kompass, Kranska Gora. I would love to go back. I was very envious of a guy on tv who was buying a holiday apartment there. How do you manage to avoid all that lovely food???!!

Trolley D - I did go to classes in SW in the past but then went postal but it wasn't ideal as they only rang twice (they are supposed to ring you every week to check your weight and give you advice). However I only joined to get the magazine cheaper! Anyway good luck and keep reading the mags and clicking on here for ideas, inspiration and a few laughs.

Payday tomorrow - I might even buy some fruit!
