Hi everyone

Jano, I am certainly no expert in how our bodies work, I read a lot of information and try different things, I use what works for me, but wouldn't recommend it for everyone, I think it is just a matter of each of us finding what works best for us and sticking to it.
Most of the information I have read says you should weigh no more than once a week at about the same time of day and wearing the same clothing, they say it doesn't matter if you calculate your calories on a daily or a weekly basis, just so long as you stay within the allotted allowance.
Now like you I find that if I weigh after I have eaten a lot the day before I don't have such a good loss.
I did have an article on my old computer about how the body works when it is breaking down food that we have eaten. I thought I had made a copy of it before I changed computers, I have searched high and low for it but of course now coz I want it I can't find it, but I will keep looking and if I find it I will post it. But basically it says that , the body produces gastric fluids to break it down and there is a fluid increase in the body as it disposes of the waste. The more food it has to digest, the more fluid it produces. Now as we all know from TOM that a build up of fluid in the body can cause a weight gain, then it seems clear to me that if you have eaten a large amount the day before you get weighed, then you are more likely to be carrying more fluid than you would be if you had only eaten lightly.
Well just in case that is true I picked a friday lunchtime to get weighed, gives me a good amount of time to get rid of anything that I did go mad on over the weekend.
Well there are so many people out there with different opinions I don't suppose we will ever really know who is right, but as I said before this is the way I do it and its working for me.

Speaking of working, I must apologise for not being around as much as normal, but I think with losing all this weight I have lost part of my mind too, The rest of it is about to follow
I started working for my sister on monday, she owns a nursery and has asked me to register as a childminder and work fulltime for her, in a moment of insanity I agreed. I start a college course on 11th february. I'm not completely new to it, I did work for 2 years in a nursery just after I had my son, but that was a little bit much for me, there were over 60 kids in there and most of the time it was understaffed, I've also helped my sister when she has been ill, she only has 10 children which is a lot easier to deal with.Maybe I have chilled a little in my old age, but this week I have actually quite enjoyed it, even with the screaming fits and tantrums, how long that will last I don't know.
Anyway girls, start saving all your money, you may need to bail me out when I am arrested for murder...don't worry, the little angels will be safe, it will be my sister I murder for talking me into it in the first place
Even after working all day I went straight to the gym on monday and wednesday and did my full workout session. I'm not sure that going after work is a good idea, I am so used to going first thing in the morning and I am always so full of energy when I come out, well even at night I was full of energy and although I am up at 5.30am to get to my sisters nursery for 7am I haven't been able to get to sleep until around 3am. I'm just hoping that it is because it is a change to my routine and it will settle down again.
Being out all day has certainly helped me with my eating plan, so all in all I have had a really good week so far this week, I hope the scales agree on friday

Well I better run, I just popped home for lunch, thought I would just pop on here while I ate it and now its gone its back to the grind

Have a great day everyone

Ali

I like to weigh in on Wednesday's too as we tend to go out to eat more at weekends than midweek. Just as long as I don't decide to pig out at the weekend and try to starve Monday and Tuesday to see a loss, this is just setting myself up for failure. On the other hand if my weigh inday was Monday I am sure I would be more careful over the weekend

For thr first time in my life, I came home from the slimmers support group and just ate my evening meal, not a whole host of other things!! My halo will fall around my neck and choke me really soon

I think Ali is right that it doesn't really matter as long as it is the same scales ,time, day, clothes etc. It does throw things out a bit if say you go for a big meal the day before but if you know that just think to yourself that you know the reason why and what a massive loss it will be next week.

I hate the scales, one time I put on 2 lbs in the space of 10 minutes! I know its my own fault for continually getting on them but when you are trying to be healthy, its so easy to become obsessed by them!

I am going to stick to weighing once a week (Friday mornings) from now on!

On a personal note, I just wanted to say to Ali how inspiring I found your website. Keep it up girl!
