  • Hommersmummy I forgot to say in my last couple of posts well done to you. You must feel great.

    WELL DONE

    Michele
  • That's so funny about the dogs, I hope your dad continues to enjoy the scooter!

I've just been out for a 20 miler. I'm sure it looked grey and dreary when I got dressed, I put my long sleeved top on, left the house and the sun came out and it was glorious. I did a lovely route mainly cross country, round where they film Emmerdale, but I got far more thirsty than normal - I had to stop at a petrol station after about 18 miles to get another bottle of stuff to drink, which I managed to finish before I made it home. I've had my bath and I think I might have a nap before making my lunch. I had some peanut butter sandwiches when I got in, so I'm not hungry yet despite the run.

That means I can now spend all tomorrow morning watching FLM without feeling guilty that I need to be out running. If anyone is watching it in London, give a special shout to anyone from Kirkstall!
  • Michele... I'm slowly growing to like those mobility scooters. One of the old boys round here who has one has got a pole going up from the back and has attached a blue flashing light thing to the top. I noticed that he's now got a gadget which makes noises like police cars, etc - he has such fun with it. (He's the one that gives me loads of eggs). BTW, You don't happen to wear Chanel No 5, do you? It has always had a weird affect on all the male dogs I've ever owned. I swear they put female dog in season pheramones in it or something. Years and years ago I had a Yorkie that used to always try and do that to my Mum's leg (she wore Chanel No 5) - and no one else - then one day my niece popped in and he did it to her... turned out she'd used a tester of Chanel No 5 in Debenhams. So after that I bought a bottle of it to use on the little girlie dogs who used to come to our house to be mated.

Helen... your runs always make me feel soooooo tired... heavens only knows how you must feel.

It was my morning at work (I do one Saturday morning in every four) and we had the Police come in - a woman who disappeared's card had been used to draw cash at our Post Office yesterday. We were shown pictures of her - none of us recognised her - so we had to check all the transactions records and turns out that the only person who's till had been used to withdraw that particular amount was my one! I felt such an idiot not remembering (and feel a bit guilty too) but its a busy PO and we see lots of people during a working day, especially on Fridays, so I would only have remembered her if I had thought she was upset in any way. In fact, thinking about it, it needn't have been her at all - it could have been anyone who had her card and pin number - wish I'd remembered to have said that to the Police. Hope they find her okay - apparently her family are frantic with worry.

There is something seriously weird with our weather at the moment... all the lettuce seeds I put in last Friday have sprouted, so I have now got five rows of seedlings - and I've just put in this week's row - I'm so looking forward to just popping out in to the garden to cut my own lettuce whenever I feel like it, especially after that recall warning of Florette Lambs Lettuce on the radio news this morning - I don't really understand how lettuce can be infected with salmonella.... urgh.
  • I drove past this place at about 11.30 last night, apparently the shooting was at about midnight http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/w...re/6578685.stm

  • YP1 - Jeez what is wrong with people? I am fed up hearing about shootings and of course young children knifing each other.

Miche- maybe it was your perfume as Sarahann said. I thihnk dogs are supposed to like aniseed - so no sucking aniseed bals for you or knocking back the pernod! Do you encourage them now, you temptress! What with you and the dogs and Sarah ann and her ageing admirers. I don't even get mental patients coming on to me now! I am feeling right left out!
  • Bloody ****, according to the timings on this report I must have missed it by minutes.
  • HM, well done on your loss... keep up the good work sweetie.

Sarah, don't feel bad about the police asking about that woman, you're probably correct in your thinking that it wasn't her, it could have been anyone...the police should have come up with that scenario as well...I do hope that she appears soon, for her sake and her family's, they must be beside themselves. Wow, lettuce growing in a week, you must have a green thumb my woman

Helen, like Sarah, I feel knackered after reading about your runs....you did ake me want a PB sarnie though, but I held out

Michelle, that sounds wonderful with your Dad having a scooter now, bless him, sounds like he enjoyed buzzing around the high street...

Too funny about your male doggie suitors....my Lew hasn't been fixed but for some reason he's very attracted to hubs leg when I go to bed, Lew jumps on the bed before me (I don't really jump, just get in nicely) and before Lew settles, he humps a sleeping hibs leg for a minute and then gets down... does make me laugh.

I have just watched "The Departed". Very violent with Leonardo, Matt Damon and Jack Nicholson and it was a bit confusing to say the least...all set in Boston, and revolving around the Irish communities...

Hubs and I went bedding plant shopping this morning, we bought new window boxes as well which are filled with pansies and alysium along the rail of the deck... he's filled about six tubs as well with different flowers and it all looks lovely out there, I just need to arrange the pots tomorrow and put my wicker chairs out to sit and sun myself.

Ok, well nearly time for bed, see you all tomorrow. Have a good Sunday.
  • Happy Sunday, everyone.

Helen - it was all over the news last night - you were very lucky not to get stuck in the middle of it.

Peacock.... You are more than welcome to a few of my aged admirers. My boss thinks there is some kind of competitive silliness going on between them all because, yesterday, one of them happened to pop in to the post office at the beginning of my shift and by the time I came home I was weighed down with veg and eggs again - and I only work one Saturday in every four.... so how did the others find out????? DH thinks the whole thing is something like an episode out of Last of the Summer Wine.... Good job we like veg and eggs.

Chris - Your window boxes and tubs sound lovely - I love pansies, always so cheerful and the last such a long time. Yes, I know I shouldn't be upset by it - just hope she's okay. I've since learned a bit more from my neighbour across the road (The Chairman of the Village Gossip Committee - as DH calls her) apparently the missing woman is a local girl who moved away with her feller who then wouldn't let her have any contact with her family - then she had a bad time with him knocking her around - apparently she contacted her Mum and Dad to tell them she was leaving him and was coming back here to stay with them and, although her feller says she left, she never got back here. everything is okay for her.

Actually what is weird about my lettuce is that I bought half a dozen packets of different lettuce seeds and mixed them all up together for a bit of variety which will look pretty in the salad bowl - I can imagine that some would germinate quicker than others but the whole lot seem to be coming up! I don't think the quick germination is my special touch - but much more likely to be a combination of the well rotted horse poo DH mixed in before sewing and, of course, this lovely weather we've been having.

I haven't watched The Departed yet, it was on my Amazon rental list - but after what you said I think I'll cancel it - I much prefer to be entertained rather than confused. I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's last night..... OMG I love that film. Heavens knows how many times I've seen it - at least once a year - but I cry EVERY blummin time it gets to that bit where she's looking for Cat in the rain.

Anyone else watching 'Any Dream Will Do' that programme about the search for someone to play Joseph in the new Andrew Lloyd Webber show? If so, did you think something went very, very wrong with the phone voting last night? I think Andrew Lloyd Webber thought so as well.
  • Good morning to you all

Could be my perfume. I was wearing Beautiful by Estee Lauder at the time. Mind you I have to say I think dogs have always been attracted to me.

The Party was good last night, didn't drink that much but I have a bit of a headache. The big fella and hubby went off to footie very early. So little fella and I planned to have a Mcdonalds brekkie egg muffin for me and the sausage one for him oh and a bottle of lucozade. Real hangover food. Anyway little fella comes back with two sausage mcmuffins which is no good for me since I am a veggie. Bless him he said oh I feel awful now can't I just take the sausage out for you!!! Anyway just at that moment hubby and the big fella came back in footie had been cancelled. Big fella had the hump because little fella was eating a Mcdonalds brekkie. So of course they had to bicker for a while. We are all sat here watching the FLM.

I must take myself off to the sofa.

    Have a restful Sunday everyone

    Michele
  • Morning all.

Must have been the day for it yesterday. We went to the garden centre and got flowers and more veggies to plant. So my boxes are all filled up and some are in pots. So I planted tomatoes, banana peppers, green beans, lettuce and water melon. I'm interested to see if the water melon grows.

I watched The Departed enjoyed it, bit violent though.

It's warm here got a bit of sun yesterday as I had to do a lot of weeding before I could plant anything.

    Enjoy the day.
  • Sarah - I'm watching any dream will do, I thought it was just plain wrong Chris was in the bottom two. Johndeep was a bit rubbish yesterday but I didn't think he'd be out so soon. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a phone mistake there seems to be a voting error in the news weekly now.
  • Veggie - I misread that as Johnny Depp was rubbish - I was just coming around to duff you up!!!

In work to day, I bin filing. French guy was in too and asked me if I wanted a cake! ****, yeah! Had a lovely choccie cherry one- gorjus! See Sarah ann - you are not the only one who gets 'presents' from strange men. However never in a million years could he be called an admirer...... Here's a clue why not - very well dressed and cleaner than the average bloke and very keen on fashion - ok so he is french so the well dressed thing is maybe obvious, but...can we say Gay Paree?

Sarahann - it does sound a bit suspicious that the last one to see a missing woman was a bloke who was using her as a human punch bag.....

I am on the Amazon rental list too - I was amazed the other day how many films I had watched! Whenever I get a spare moment I tend to browse thru the films to see what to add on! I mainly go for foreign films as not a great fan of American "It only takes one yank to save the world" type films but I have had a "Johnny Depp season just lately" well it is finished now and I have just seen a Vin Diesel film - a man apart whcih was not too demanding - an action one and yes, I guess it fell into the "only takes one yank" category but it was ok. I think I have got the Irish one - something about barely coming up - The wind that shook the Barley? - summat like that. Then I have a lot of music videos from old bands I like.
  • Hey Everyone

Back from Montreal, drove out of nasty weather into beautiful weather and now it's nice here. Walked all over Montreal, then did a 5 mile race today. I have that stupid sunburned look from wearing my sunglasses so I'm looking like a racoon. My nose is bright red. I'm lucky to have pretty good tanning skin, I get dark in the summer, but the first time out is pretty funny.

We've not had spring, tomorrow is supposed to be 80.....back to school from vacation though, the kids are sure to be nuts.

Sarah congrats on your allotment that sounds fun.

Helen congrats on the job offer...exciting.

Chris and CG I loved The Departed mostly because I recognized all of the places.

Michelle-Those scooters are great, good for your Dad, I haven't forgotten him I swear I'll send that package soon. The post office has awful hours here but I'll get it done!!!

Oh I made a new treat today, hard boiled eggs, I took out the yolk and filled it with garlic hummus...YUM!!!!

Up a couple of vacation pounds but nothing I'm too concerned about, I signed up for a 10k next Sunday, and I should have a good week of exercise.
  • Hi all,

RSG, glad to hear that you had a good time in Montreal...make sure to put plenty of moisturiser on your nose before bed tonight and hopefully then it won't peel. The boiled egg withgarlic hummus sounds lovely... might have to try that one... have to go and buy some eggs though, we have none, and no old boys around here with chickens apparently.

I have had such a lazy day today, done nothing but a few loads of laundry which needs folding but it's down in the laundry room and I can't see it, so it won't be happening tonight.

It's been sunny and warm again today, so Dave finished off the pots and we sat outside for most of the day enjoying each other's company. I don't think I've been this lazy in months not doing anything.

Hannah's gone to a local restaurant with a friend and I'm being very naughty as she's bringing me a slice of chocloate cheesecake home...and I shall enjoy every single mouthful

Helen, that shooting thing sounds very frighteneing, so glad to hear you weren't there when everything happened

CG... your garden sounds like it's coming along luvey... talk to you in the week....

Ok, time for Amazing race...nearly the end of the season for it...

RE. Josheph, my Mum watches it, says it's a lovely show to watch, I liked when Jason Donovan did it years back, always had a bit of a crush on him, even when he was in Neighbours...

    See you all tomorrow.
  • Hi all. Well I got sunburnt today ouch on my neck. Didn't even realise at the time. It was in the 80's and we were at a lake feeding the ducks and then went to another garden centre Had some ice cream as well. My eating is not good at the moment.

Chris so glad Amazing Race was a non elimination I love Oswald and Danny.
