    Love it!!!
  • Chris - I hate that flicky eye thing - I always feel people will think I'm winking at them.

Oooooh... Helen.... Congratulations. Weird feeling, isn't it! You never know, it could give you bargaining power in you pay negotiations with your current firm.

Pat - you get your replacement greenhouse. The weather here is just nice for planting out - we've had a warm/early spring and everything is going a bit mad - no doubt we'll have a surprise late frost to kill off all the seedlings. Tomatoes always do well in tubs for me ... just need more feed and well rotted horse muck than they do in the ground in the greenhouse (when I used to have them). My husband is also thinking about greenhouses - he wants another one of those polytunnel ones but bigger this time - I'm still getting over the trauma of watching the last two blow away!

Peacock - me too! I love those catalogues for buying little plants as well - although I've never had much success with buying plants that way - my last order of 3 dozen mixed raspberry and half a dozen blueberry bushes never grew even though I followed all the instructions.

I like growing stuff in pots here - it makes sense with the dogs being around - I use quite big pots, tall enough that the boys can't tiddle in them. Since my garden got trashed in that wind earlier this year we've taken the opportunity of having a complete changearound - got rid of what was left of the grass and have made it in to a kind of courtyard garden with a large raised bed for roses and pansies - and loads of tubs and hanging baskets for fuschias, surfinas, etc. I've got a little bit of a veggie patch around the back of the garage - about 8ft x 10 ft - just about big enough for my lettuce and DH's precious runner beans. I was going to grow courgettes in tubs but they can go to the allotment now.

Years ago I had a flat in West Hampstead which didn't have a garden and I got completely depressed - I don't know if it was the lack of sunlight or that gardening has a weird kind of tranquillising effect on me.

I think DH is losing his mind.... two daft things he's said to me in the last 24 hours....

Comment on a programme about Edwardian food just after hearing that they ate something like 5,000 cals a day: 'No wonder they are all dead'.

Urgent phone call received from him this morning after a radio news report that women who have taken HRT have increased their risk of ovarian cancer to 20%:
Him: 'Did you hear that thing about ovarian cancer and HRT on the radio? You need to make an appointment at the doctor'.
Me: 'They took my ovaries when I had the hysterectomy.'
Him: 'You still need go to the doctor - you could still be at risk.'

  • Just thought I'd post -> THIS LINK <- (made my cry a bit when I watched it) I heard about it on the Chris Evans show and then watched it and I blummin hope it works for them!
  • Hey all!
    Checking in.
Weight loss is going ok. Lost 2 and a half pound this week. I am now at 18st 10 and a half pound!
I've gone down to 22-24 clothes too!
Not bad from, 23st 1 and a half pound and size 30-32!
What's that? 61lb down? *does calculations* *shrugs* I dunno haha!

    Hope all are well!
  • Well done HM!

Well I took the day off yesterday and went shopping in big Primark, then went to Debenhams and got some tea plates and square bowls I met hubby for lunch, then went home and PASSED OUT on the bed for an hour and a half before kickboxing.

All in all I did 2.5 hours of sparring/techniques so I'm glad I had my nap

Got another hour and a half tonight. Must try to be all positive and Not Tired for DH, he is moaning that I am always tired - even though last night I stayed up till 11pm posting his books on ebay for him And he wonders why we're tired this morning
  • Frus... you always worry me... are you overdoing it??

Woops - I think I missed a cheap listing day on eBay.... I've got one whole bedroom packed full of 'stuff' I'm supposed to be selling - but I can't get motivated on that, either. DH wants to flog it off at a car boot but the thought of getting up before dawn on a Sunday just might be enough to get me off my fat behind and get listing.... or maybe not.

I've got yet ANOTHER new neighbour... the bloke on the house attached to us (not the Chavs, the other side) seems to be changing girlfriends every two weeks ever since him and his fiancee split up just before Chrimbo. They are getting more and more Barbie-like. This one looks like Melinda Messenger (see pic) with a bigger chest (not real) and sunbathes topless out in the garden (they stand straight up which is how you can tell they're not real). (Yes, I'm jealous!) Yesterday she was washing her pink car which has pink furry seat and steering wheel covers ... wearing knee length pink boots, pink spray on crop shorts and matching X back pink crop top. So depressing! All the men in the street miraculously found themselves front garden chores to do so they could drool.

  • Yes I am slightly overdoing it, however if DH would stop arranging days out that sart at 6am on a SATURDAY people!!!!! I might actually be able to have some SLEEP! FWIW I have not been near a dumbbell this week or a treadmill. I'm glad I had my day off yesterday and am going to schedule more napping time
  • Good for you! You need to put your foot down with these men... he has to learn to respect your lie ins!
  • Forgot the smilie.....
  • SarahAnn- loved the two daft things your DH said! I fonly they would think first and engage their brain!!!

Re the Melinda messenger looky likey - I bet those slobbering hordes have never been so busy in their front gardens! What will the next bimbo look like? Blow up rubber????!!!!!
  • Sarah loved the description of your new neighbour

Maybe she has a nice personality
  • Just got home. Had me mammogram this morning then went for lunch with my British friend. We had thai today. Very nice.

I also bought 6 tomato plants at a nice garden centre. Might go back again this weekend and get some nice plants.
  • Hello everyone

Feck feck feck, didn't I just write a long rambling post only to lose the sodding thing. Argggggggggggggh

    I shall post tomorrow

    Goodnight godbless

    Michele
  • Hello lovely ladies

Another week of work over and done with, I can see this jobby becoming full time soon, one of our girls is pregnant so will be leaving to have the baby and doesn't know if she'll come back and another informed me today that she's looking for more hours so interviewed today for a nine to five job elsewhere...

Sarah... the comments hubs made to you had me in absolute stitches...especially about the Edwardians... Please thank him for giving me a giggle. That clip of 'my generation' was brill...I love OAP's

CG... I think we're going to head to a garden center this weekend and pick up some bedding plants...it's supposed to be sunny, dry and in the fifties...

I fancied a walk on the beach this evening... after dinner arrives...we've ordered naughty stuff from a pizza place as no one wants to cook... J and Amy ahve gone to pick it up... but there was a body wash up on one beach near by yesterday, scared a bird watcher lady half to death apparently, so I think the beach might be closed...have to have a walk around the houses instead.

Jen, take it easy my woman...

Michelle, I hate when that happens...really ticks me off!

Peacock. at your comment about the neighbs of Sarah's bcoming rubber, you really do have a great wit

Ok, I smell dinner arriving and my tum is a rumbling... see you all tomorrow.
  • Hello everyone

Its another lovely day here. I stupidly put a colour on my hair last night. It was a Nicky Clarke one not a cheapy. It was called Butterscotch mmmm should be called Mud yuk. I look so dreary mind you I have no make up and I'm sat here in a vest and tshirt with my usual creased face look. Myabe it will suddenly improve.

My friend Mandy Ken's mum just rang. She said guess who I just saw at the shops I couldn't guess as I hadn't been up long but it was my father on one of those battery operated mobility scooters. She said he whizzed passed her she thought blimey that look's like Michele's dad and then realised it was so she stopped him and had a chat and he said its the best thing I ever bought next stop Ireland!!!!

I have since spoken to my father who is full of the joys of his new scooter he was due to be assessed for one but he couldn't wait and found one reasonably priced in this shop. His sister had seen this scooter told my father and collected him to go and have a look at it the man in the shop said you can have a drive about to get used to it. My father said sure didn't I use to drive a forklift truck that will be not a shadow of a bother to me. (He never learnt to drive a car) He sounded so happy. He said would I like to come round for a private viewing.

I am shortly about to make my Saturday fried egg sarnie hubby is out so no brekkie made for me this morning.

I lost my big post last night but I feel I must tell you this observation of mine that I had told you all last night but then lost it. Its about Golden Retrievers.
When Ken sees me he goes mad trieds to you know what to my leg cuddles me generally tries to radish me on the spot he has had his bits sorted so I don't know why he has this urge. Mandy says its because I am short and blonde well I was until I coloured my hair to sludge. Anyway I was walking to my friends the other morning to go to work when I saw a man with a golden retriever he was older than Ken I'd say less playful, but this golden retriever could not take his eyes off me in facft he was walking along and still looking back at me. It was just the funniest thing only I could attract dogs!!!

    Have a good day everyone

    Michele
