Thank you lou
Helen - you are a speedy one ;) I almost joined a little casual running group last night, but I chickened out! I'm getting DH to drag me out next week! RSG - it's supposed to SNOW here on monday :shocksn: Yesterday I chilled out - I had turkey with roasted green beans and parsnips :T Then I printed out a lot of wedding photos. I am humungously impressed with my photo printer. :D It was about £150 and Dad's just spent millions and millions on a colour lazer which is probably about the same quality as mine! I really can't tell it's been printed out on an inkjet printer, it looks really well done. :D Now I just have to print the rest out and get them in an album and I'm kinda somewhere near! Oh and I need a posh little box to put all my bits and bobs in, like tiara and stuff. I also need to get the dress cleaned, but I am putting it off since it'll cost well over £50 and part of me thinks, "Is it really worth it???" Am I ever going to wear it again? However I do think that I might get it altered and dyed and I'll be able to wear it for posh dos... Not that we ever GO to any posh dos, but I'll have the dress if we do go! |
Snow? SNOW?????? :( :( :( We're having our garden sorted out/re-done next week and you know British workmen, just a hint of snow and they can't work!
I've got a scratchy throat and a nose thats now so red it could guide aircraft - I've taken loads of Vit C and I'm hoping it won't get any worse. Frus, I would have gone back to work yesterday if she hadn't been so abrupt with me about it. I wasn't supposed to work either shift yesterday so I was doing her a favour by working the morning one AND she didn't actually ask me if I'd work the afternoon, she just assumed that I would. TBH I didn't appreciate a comment she made about me not being 'committed' enough because I wouldn't cancel my Sainsbury order (she doesn't have her groceries delivered so she didn't understand that I COULDN'T cancel it at such short notice.) She also seemed to forget the fact that I have worked six extra shifts plus my usual shifts since I came back from holiday. </rant> Well - Ellie is in the dog house, BIG TIME!! Despite my cold we had a GLORIOUS 90 minute walk in the sunshine - the dogs had all had fun chasing three lots of deer so they were happily exhausted - and we were on our way home. The boys were leading the way but Ellie was lagging along behind sniffing every clump of grass and sighing with a kind of theatrical sulky teenage attitude. I turned to call her to speed up a bit and she looked me straight in the face, turned left and HURTLED off across a boggy bit, picking up speed as she went. ONE HOUR AND FORTY FIVE blummin minutes later I was STILL trying to get her to come back... mostly I could see her in the distance but I couldn't get to her. Even when she was close enough to hear me she didn't respond. (I think she was looking at me out of the corner of her eye though!!) I did everything I could think of.... walking in the opposite direction... giving the boys treats... singing (she likes singing). George and Fred got bored, laid down and went to sleep. I really thought I was going to have to leave her there. Finally another dog walker came along with one of her doggy friends - she immediately came over thinking she was going to have a game and I got her lead on her. I think I'd have still been there now if it wasn't for Sid and his owner. She knows she's done wrong, she's been a very quiet girl since we got home. |
Frus... trust me on this... don't muck around with your wedding dress. Get it cleaned as and when you can afford it. Every single woman I know that has died or altered their wedding dress has ended up regretting it eventually. In years to come it will give you wonderful memories and ... you never know ... you might one day have a daughter that would like to wear it when she gets married.

Oooh your boss sounds a right mardy :moo:
Can you get used to giving Ellie treats when she stays with you/comes back quickly, then not giving her them when she's a pain! How about trying that doggy whistle again? |
Thats what we normally do (we use corned beef for treats) but she wasn't having any of it this morning. Actually, since my post about it she's been a bit poorly so maybe she wasn't feeling okay. I still think she's going through her teenage years. ;)
Mardy.... thats the exact word that everyone uses to describe my boss. She used to be my friend but from the day I started working for her she completely changed. The thing is, I'm the only one working for her who isn't dependant on working there to survive. I think she's gotten so used to people working for her who'll put up with any kind of :censored: in order to keep their job that she forgets that I'm not in the same boat. |
Oh dear - sounds like a good :kickbutt: is in order for your boss! :p
As for Ellie - sounds like a teenager to me  I found a really really great recipe site http://www.101cookbooks.com/archives/001402.html there's AMAZING recipes on there! I'm trying not to print them all out and try them ALL at the weekend! I'm going to make apple and brie calzone at the weekend and then perhaps the weekend after I'm going to make this really really rich chocolate mousee-cake thingy  |
Just having a phantasmagorical snack!
It's musli Ryvita biscuits (with raisins and honey and seeds) with extra light philly on them sprinkled with cinnamon and a smidge smidge of Splenda stuff  And a cuppa :coffee: |
marmite went AWOL last night.. it was dark so i went to call him in .... it went something like this...
MARMITE "meow" from afar... x 10... not coming in.. so got his bowl & some foor and shook it a bit..... mewo... then... nothing... got shoes on & went to communal garden (behind our garden... where i thought i could hear him) taking food with me... (hope i wasnt seen!) .... i saw marmite after shouting again... then he runs into our garden... i go back round to go home (can only get to the garden through the flat..) look round flat incase hes jumped in throught window... no sign.... shout outside again ... NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!... grr he then eventaully appears just sitting on the fence lol... MISSING collar.. so the meowing.. was him fighting! lol.. hes a bully!... but not a scratch on him... tut... just a bit of loose fluff lol grr.. anyway i have to go & watch a 3hr trainng CD rom for one of a studies.. wooo lol... got removal co. coming round in a bit too..... all go go go... we could exchange in a week ro 2 !!!!!!!! eeeeeeeek! better find some boxes & make a start! bye for now! lxxx |
 @ Lou - Blummin pets!
This cold is developing nicely... I look like Rudolph now. Lou.... start packing up stuff you don't use often and have a good sort out as early as possible because its frightening how quickly that gap between exchange and completion passes. Twice I've found myself STARTING to pack on the day before moving.... :fr: Jen - I love Philly lite but I haven't thought about having it with Ryvita.... hmmm..... just gonna put them on my next week's Sainsburys order. Just thinking about making dinner... decided to make the fishcakes I put on the recipe thread - sort of making them Thai style. |
yup !.. i know.. i hope its not too quick!... lol.. have to get boxes asap i think.. then i can back away books n candles etc bits we dont "need" other than clothes and kitchen stuff... i think even some of that can proably be packed up like MASSIVE plates my nan gave me... (they are like for buffets/ families of 10 lol..) and some glasses etc...
argghh.. thrown out some stuff.. i feel more to go (not one for mess lol).... bit ironic as were going to a bigger place lol.. but if we dont use it theres no point moving it or keeping it !.... cor im freezing.. just put the heating on... i really must have a look @the DVD... *yawn* lol... |
I hope it doesn't snow on Sunday, it's rafting day :yikes:
Jen and Sarah - those pets do sometimes want to let you know who's in charge, don't they! I really like Philly light on ryvita, although today I got myself through the afternoon with cottage cheese on ryvita instead. Also very passable for when I have the munchies. Frus - get yourself to the running group! It's amazing how much motivation you can get from running with a group. I thought that I was OK with running on my own before I joined the club, but it's taken my running to a whole new level now. An insane level, perhaps, but a new one all the same ;) The scales were being kind again this morning, let's hope they stay that way. I've been pretty on plan all day today. It's funny, hunger. Yesterday I was starving all day. I gave into my cravings because I knew I needed to fuel my run anyway so it wasn't a huge issue, but I felt like I needed everything I ate just to keep me satisfied, even though it was more than normal. Today I've hardly been hungry at all compared to normal. |
I'm really annoyed, I cycled to uni and was all geared up to cycle home, had all my kit on, unlocked my bike and couldn't get it out the bike shelter - some eejit had put his bike lock through my brake wires. Grrr! One day into my new exercise regime and it was foiled already! It also means I can't cycle in tomorrow so i'm well peed off.
On the up side, the uni is starting a running group to train for Race for Life in June. I'm not doing the race but I'm thinking of joining the group anyway. Maybe it'll give me a kick up the backside. The weight's really not shifting this week. |
Sarah - I've just got a copy of that Rose Elliot Low GI Vegetarian cookbook from Amazon. I'm drooling. I just wish I was at home over the weekend to try some of the recipes! Thanks for the recommendation.

:snowman: EEEEEK! After our lovely spring like weather where I've had washing drying on the line four days in a row, not the weatherman is saying we could get up to 5 inches of the white stuff tomorrow and cold with it! That is not nice at all.
Sarah... poor you with Ellie being a teenager...I really do think you should write a little log of your accounts on walking... it would be as funny as Bridget Jones' Diary. And I'd def buy it. Sorry to hear your boss is being a mardy (love that word) :cow: and glad you didn't go back for the afternoon shift you weren't supposed to be working anyway... that'll learn her. :) Lou, good luck with the packing, I don't mind the packing, I hate the unpacking though, luckily, most of our big moves have had packers so all I have to do is unpack, but it's such a pain and so tiring... And trying to find what you first need like cups for a cuppa after packers have done it for you is no mean feat...at least we don't have to do it for about another 18 months though. I had a lovely walk this morning after curves with Pen and Lew. Poor Pen is showing her age though and slowed a lot half way round and promptly slept for an hour when we got home. I hope if we do get the snow that it's the dry powdery stuff that I can take them out in, otherwise they end up with it sticking in their paddy paws and limping...poor things. Ok, off to check the recipes out... Jen that choc thing you talked about sounds very sinful...let us know how it is. |
