Post How much water?

Hi everyone,
Just wandering what your thoughts were on water. I know they recommend 64 oz a day, which I'm able to be drinking. Have you ever heard that you take your weight and divide by two and that is your minimum amount?

Yes,I have read that in several different articles. So if you weigh 140 half of that is 70.You would drink 70ounces of water a day.

Can't help as I am one that hates water and rarely drink it. I know it is good for you.I just don't like it. I do know that other liquids count now or so many articles say. Thats good for people like me.

Morning everyone...Oh my goodness...If I drink the water that you all are talking about I would have to drink ....95 oz. of water...there isn't anyway I could drink that. Not even to mention that I wouldn't get much sleep either!!!
Eleni....I'm with you...I force down at least 2 pints of water a day. If I was still working hard like I used too I would drink a lot of water, but I can work that hard, I'm getting too old and I'm certainly too fat. Young and fat you can work pretty hard...but...old and fat just don't go together at all.
Have a good one everybody. Belle

sorry for butting in- but yes, I've heard that too...

I must admit I don't know alot about the TOPS plan, but I found that Crystal light, or Wylers light helps ALOT! I found a jug last summer- 64 oz at walmart and it was decorated with all kinds of water sayings- "37% of the US pop. mistake thirst for hunger".... I drink 2 of the jugs a day with the wylers light. (128 ozes) It's sugar free but does contain Aspartame, for those that get belly pains from it. each packet makes 64 ozes of water and it has 40 calories. That's the only way I can get down my water...

Some of my weight loss is definitely running down 2 flights of stairs to the bathroom at work Anyways, I feel 100x better, more alert, my metabolism has increased- dehydration slows it, some of it is eating regular meals and some of it's water I'm sure.

Anyways, yes! drink that water!

Congrats on your progress!

Belle.
You are really cute, I would be going to the bathroom all night too if I didn't start early in the morning.

I've heard that the sugar free koolaide (tastes great!!) counts too. Anything (according to the south beach diet) counts as liquid if it doesn't contain caffeine. ie: caffeine free diet coke/root beer has no caffee either.

Kandice, You are very correct about the confusion of hunger and thirst. Great job on your fluid intake your stair stepping to the bathroom ...lol (you could choose the elevator but you didn't ) . You are proof it works... all the hard work pays off if you don't give up!!

I love this support!! Thank you everyone

Another thing I have heard (other than divide your weight by 2) is to add 8 ounces of water for every 20 pounds you want to lose (in addition to the 64 ounces you should drink when you are at your target weight). Since I need to lose about 150 pounds, I need to drink 64 + 8(150/20) = 124 oz. that is a lot of water, but if it helps with the weight loss (by making your body not retain water and function more smoothly), then it is worth it!

I have heard several of the suggestions. If you don't like to drink water they have the new crystal light packets for your water bottles. Also the walmart brand is just as good as the crystal light. I know if I drink 4 20 oz bottles that I have gotten mine for the day.
