Hi Ladies,
Hope everyone is having a great day! I have been looking into the South Beach Diet, Thanks Nita and I am starting it today. It has always sounded like a fad diet but it is actually not.
So how is everyone doing? LETS GET ON HERE LADIES AND POST!!!!!!
Hi there,
I have been doing South Beach for approx. 4 weeks. It is the easiest plan I have ever been on (even the first two weeks were OK). Feel great, lots of energy, good mood, etc., etc.,
Good Luck!

Oh Great Thanks so much for the info. I have found it pretty easy so far. I just have to be careful b/c I am still breastfeeding my 8 1/2 month old. But hopefully he will be weaning by one year. He is totally bf and does not take a bottle. We are working with the sippy cup now trying to find one he likes
Did you stay in Phase I or have you moved to Phase II? How much weight have you lost on it so far?
I hear that you lose belly fat first and being I have three kids and two were c-sections I have big problems with that area.
Welcome to the boards. Sounds like you are very happy with your plan and doing great. Keep up the great work. I haven't really read about it so I don't know how it works. You can be the motivation for the girls here that are doing the plan. Stick with us and you will be a successful loser.
Penny,
Andrew doesn't like the sippy cup? Ben has been using one since Jan. It took a little while for him to figure it out. I had to end up getting the ones with the handles because he couldn't put his whole hand around the cup to hold it. This is a gerber one and the nipple is soft. All the other ones are hard it works great for him. Glad to hear that you like the south beach diet. I have to read about it and see what it is all about. I am not going to do it just going to stick to what I am doing now which is controlling the sugar.
Went to the therapist today. My hips were out 3 different ways. That is why it has been so sore. Who would have thought that sitting for an extended time and standing would throw them so far out of whack. But I had fun. I have to go back on thursday and hopefully she can finish fixing them. She could only fix one part today and I could hardly walk when I left.
Nothing else going on here really.
Sherri ~ You poor thing...... I have never had an type of chiropratic therapy. So I don't know anything about it. Hopefully this will help you.
Andrew is doing alright with the sippy cups but he would much rather suck on the boobie But I am trying to eliminate one feeding a day to try to start weaning him. It will probably take me a couple months
I did wonderful on plan today and I am so happy about it. I can't wait until tomorrow. I even got my exercise in YAH YAH YAH!!!
Hunter will go back to school tomorrow....... Thank goodness. The kids have been fighting like cats and dogs. He was out for Mardi Gras.
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I need some help with food choices for tomorrow I can't have any meats and the South Beath Diet doesn't allow any white starches for the first two weeks. I will run into this problem every Friday .......... Any suggestions would be great
Penny...Since you can't eat meat...are you allowed fish? Have you tried StarKist brand Flavor Fresh Pouches? They have a hickory smoked tuna that is good. Also a herb and garlic one...there is another, one lemon something??? but I don't like it. Chicken of the Sea (in the pouch) has a good Pink Salmon that is good. I mix cheese, canned or raw green chili's, sour cream (or you can use whipped cream cheese) and sometimes a little bit of avocada. You can serve it on your 1 cup salad greens.
Cheese is a good sub. Peanut butter, just be careful of servings. And then there are eggs...no limit to the way you can use them. I spray a pan with butter flavored Pam, 1/2 cup egg sub. salt pepper, 1 slice cheese, picante sauce to taste...makes a good omelet. I have used zuchinni (diced) or mushrooms instead of the picante sauce. There are also some good recipes in the SB book.
After lent, try a cheese burger wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of bun. I never cared for that much bread anyway.
Oh, yes, Hello everyone!!! Sorry to get carried away.
I haven't been on lately...have not even had time to read the posts. But need to get back in the loop!!! I miss you guys.
I hope you are all doing well??? Sherri, hope you are doing better since the therapy sessions.
Eleni, congratulations on that new baby...That is such fun. Mine (grandchildren) are growing up much to fast to please me.
I just wanted to let you all know that I am still around and that I get a lot of encouragement just reading the posts. You are all such a great bunch of ladies!!!! Thanks for always being there...and sticking together. The good thing about being off for a while is when you get bad on, it's like coming home to family. And you always welcome me back...
Have a good day, everyone and a better one tomorrow...
Will try to post more often, love you all.

Good Morning,
Just checking in quickly before jumping in the shower and driving to work (a necessary evil I am afraid!!!). Oh to retire!!!!
Penny - I moved to Phase II on the 9th of Feb. (losing 11.5 lbs the first two weeks on PHI). Lost another 2lbs during the first week on II. HOWEVER, did a backslide on the weekend starting with Friday, Feb 20th. Particularly stressful week, and ended up having far too much food and chardonnay!!! The result...... drumroll please!!!!!!............... 3lbs in the WRONG direction. Went back on PHI for a couple of days (yes, ONLY 2 days!) and lost the 3 and now am down 1 more. So, don't try and do the math, my total loss is now 14lbs. I am also going to the gym at least twice a week, more if my schedule will allow. My first milestone is only 6lbs away (20lbs), and then the next milestone will be another 20lbs. The challenge when this is accomplished is to maintain the loss, which should be relatively easy. A positive mindset is important when going on this journey!
I have not really noticed a specific area of fat being reduced, just all over shrinkage (yes ladies.... all over!). It always amazes me that where you don't want to lose is always the first to disolve! )
Bottomline is this is no longer a "diet" for me, but will be the way I eat for the rest of my life (I hope!). I have never felt so good!
Well, this message has become an epic, and I must get ready for work.
JO
14 lbs. lost in 4 weeks in fantastic. You did great losing 11.5 lbs. the first 2 weeks of phase I. I don't think mine is coming off that fast. I lost 4.5 lbs the first week, but this week isn't showing any loss. I still have until Monday to have a loss. I'm looking forward to Phase II.
Nita - PhII is really good. Nice to have some carbs back. I have found if I have bread/cereal one day, I don't have it the following day. Seems to have worked so far for me.
Well............... the weigh in on Monday AM (that is the only day I get on the "devil-scale", fondly referred to as 666) should be interesting to say the least. Once again, my Friday was way out of control (but fun!). Birthday celebration here for one of our neighbours, so............. cake (had to taste since I made it) and too much vino (had to drink since I didn't make it!). Ah well, I'm not upset about it, just one of those things. Had a great time, so worth it.
We are finally getting some great weather here, so I am off to enjoy the blue sky and sun!
