Default Monthly Contests

Hi Everyone,
I belong to a TOPS group that is not very motivated right now! Out of 20 members, there is only 5 of us that are steady losers. I am trying to motivate them, so that I will stay motivated myself. But lately our monthly contests have been very boring and lame. Please send me some of your contest ideas that has worked for your TOPS groups. Thanks for any help and support that I can get from others.
Have a great day! I hope everyone has a good weigh-in this coming week!

Our meetings are on Tuesday nights. I am just trying to motivate the group since some of them are talking about not coming back and losing weight on their own at home. But I feel that they need that extra support and boost to continue their weight loss journey.

I found some contest ideas on Bobbie TOPS website. So I took one to the group last night and they all seem to like it. It is entitled Think Postive-Yes I Can. So I was pleased that they finally accepted an idea I had and did not veto it from the get go.

Kar,

I hear you. I was in a chapter that wasn't motivating either and I tried to motivate them. You have to realize that if people don't want this for them then all the motivatin you are sending their way won't help until they are ready to accept it. But if you can help just one person it was worth it. Christian is right there are many ideas on the tops sites and others. I always came up with my own ideas and tried them. I will have to think of some of them for you and post them for you when I am at home.

Christian,

The same goes for you girl. You give your all to that group and you know who you can motivate and who you can't. Work on the ones that really want this and it will save you a lot of aggrevation in the long run.

Mickey,

I came up with a fundraiser that everyone liked when I was in my group. You put in .25 every week into a jar. If you lose weight or turtle you can enter the 50/50 drawing at the end of the year. If you gain weight you can't enter. No matter what all members must contribute the .25 each week. Then at the end of the year you draw a winner. You will be surprised how much money you will have collected during the year. It is easy and something to look forward to. The more losses you have the more chances you have of winning.
Keep up the great work.

Alannah,

I am with you girl. I have to start today writing my food journal. I have to turn it in weekly to the specialist for my diabetes. So that will help to keep me on track. I haven't been good eating the portions I should be. I haven't been eating enough I don't think. I love your new attitude and with that you will be a great loser this year. You have what it takes.

AS for me. I went to the specialist earlier then planned. I went yesterday. She immediately put me on insulin. So I have to give myself a shot before I go to bed, do a test first thing in the morning to see if the baby is getting enough food during the night and that no sugar is in my urine. Also test my sugar 4 x a day and keep the food journal daily. I have to report to her weekly and go there once a month. She said the insulin will be increased especially when she found out I was using an old machine and that my nubers are actually 10% higher then what I thought.
My boss talked to someone last night that had the same complications as myself and he wants me out of here in a few weeks for mine and the baby's help. I got the disability papers today and just have to talk to the doctor now. He is the one that has to approve it. I am not happy about going out so early because of finances but I am sure it will be for the best.
Not much else going on here.

Default Monthly contest

Sounds like your Tops chapter and ours must be having the same type of problems. We haven't had a group contest for over a year! Awards/charms recognitions are so far behind being given to those who earned them. It is hard to get people to volunteer for doing programs. Program ideas come from Wisc. every month. They go into the leader's house and get lost forever! She is so disorganized, and forgetful. Only another month till new elections. It has become a social group, not a support group. Moral support is shown during the meeting and goes out the door when we do! I've been an officer twice, and will be stepping down come elections. Let somebody else volunteer! Can you tell I am disgusted?
