Hello to everyone. Congratulations to those who are doing well. Now that our Recognition Days are over we should all be motivated to lose.
Our Alberta PRD was this weekend. Alberta TOPS lost 26,891 3/4 pounds in 2002. Our King lost 111 pounds and our Queen lost 85 pounds. They also gave the statistics for the Chapter Queens and Kings - 1,603 3/4 pounds to goal!
Our motivational speaker talked about commitment, and was very good! We also had an award for a KOPS of the Year, and in her story they said she had missed only one meeting since 1994. That is almost impossible to believe - no sickness?, no holidays? --but very impressive!!!!
Our attendance was down this year, about 1100. The last time it was held in Calgary 5 years ago the attendance was over 1,500. It seems to me that a lot of people are not going even when it is easy, in their home city. I know it takes away part of a weekend, but it is entirely worth it! One of our chapter's attendees is a woman in her 80's who is going to have hip replacement surgery in 2 weeks. If anyone had an excuse to stay home it would have been her, but she was there with her cane... She did find the stairs difficult, but others in the group were helping her. I think that is what I like best, getting to know your members better, instead of just seeing them once a week for an hour.
My knees were very sore both days so I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. I missed the Circle of Light Saturday evening as 4 of us came home after supper on Saturday. The KOPS from our group did not go to PRD so we had no one there to cheer on, and most of us had seen the ceremony other times. The only one who was at PRD for the first time and hadn't , was tired and wanted to go home. She is extremely heavy, a diabetic and a smoker, so she found walking all day very tiring.
Keep on program everyone and we will ALL be a part of the Circle of Light someday soon!
