Hi Ladies,

It's been some time since I have posted but things have been pretty hectic. Gene needs 20 radiation treatments for his ear. We have now completed 3 of them. I am finding it pretty hard getting him in and out of the car and handling the transport chair. However, I am doing my best.

Need to get ready for the 4th treatment.

Wishing all of you a VERY HAPPY EASTER!

Anita

Hello Ladies -

Had my weight in this morning lost 2 lbs. Lost 10 lbs since the beginning of me working out, which was in Sept. When I think of it that way it's not much. But 10 lbs gone is 10 lbs.

Nita - So sorry to hear about Gene. Is there any one there who could help you once you get to his appointments? Will keep you all in my prayers.

Wishing everyone a Blessed Happy Easter.

Good Morning Ladies,

I thought I would post a short note to let you know I survived one week of treatment for Gene. Four down and 16 to go. Perhaps he will not need all 16. I, too, have been watching Dancing With the Stars and this week I voted for the Speed Skater. Last week I voted for Joey. Who are your favorites?

HalGal, way to go on sticking to your program and being successful. By the way, what program are you following. I have been reading Bob Greene's book "The Best Life Diet" and have found it to be very interesting. It tells me the bottom line is calories in and calories out. My PCP said just cut out 500 cal. per day and I would lose 1 lb. per week. Due to all this stress at the moment, I have not really gotten into it.

As far as assistance when I get to the radiologist's office--there is none. It is up to me to get Gene in and out. I do have a transport chair which i can put behind my seat and they do have a handicap door to the main lobby but when it comes to the doctor's office itself, I always try to find someone I can ask to open the door for me. So far I have been lucky and no one has turned me down.

Shad, do call me when you are in Phoenix and I will try and meet up with you. I will e-mail my telephone number and cell number.

Take care all,
Anita

Good morning everyone, Happy Easter. Here we are at Easter Monday. It's the last day of our Easter celebrations.

Nita, I will certainly talk to you in Phoenix. I'll actually be around Arizona a lot more than I thought because I haven't heard back from the New Mexico friends so I won't be going to stop over with them. I come into Phoenix and leave from Phoenix. I'm going to be driving around the State and doing the tourist things there. We can talk or meet up sometime I am sure.

Weight loss continues slowly here. Up an down but mostly down in little losses. I suppose it took a long time to get there and it is going to take a long time to go away. I have to live as well during this journey so I'm not getting disheartened.

Tonight I go back to Townsville for the last 5 weeks of this project. Hard to believe but it will nearly be time for my holiday when I leave up there for good. I'll be driving that long drive home and stopping off with friends along the way.

Lots of things to do today so I suppose I should get off here and go do them. Otherwise I will be leaving a whole lot of unfinished chores.
Have a safe and blessed Easter.

Hello Ladies-

It sure has been quite in here. This past week was a very busy one for me. I had a several big contracts that we were in the process of negiotating. I came home tired every evening. Friday night we had some terrible storms. A tornado hit down about 1 hour away and what we thought was a tornado about 25 minutes away. The sirens went off in my area 3 times that evening. It was scary. But i'm ok and the house is ok.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick note to let you know I am surviving. Today will be the 10th radiation treatment. He probably needs 10 to 12 more to make sure the entire cancer is gone.

I am still not dieting but I do start off each day with a great breakfast--if only I could continue the rest of the day as well, I would be doing OK. I am also trying to exercise at least 20 to 30 minutes each day. The weather here in Phoenix is fantastic at the moment--but before I know it it will be very very hot!

Take care,
Anita

Hello Ladies -

Nita - I have been keeping you and Gene in my prayers. With all this stress it is so hard to concentrate on your diet. That is good your starting your day off with a good breakfast. Way to go for keeping your 20 minutes of exercise in. Anything helps..

Hope everyone is doing ok. Give us a update on what's going on in your life right now.

Default RE: Happy Earth Day....

Hello Everyone!

What an interesting look at Earth Day as we begin to understand the extreme changes in our climate. For the last month I have gone from using air conditioning to heat in the same day, several times. Extreme temperature changes on a daily basis are becoming the norm.

I weighed in yeterday for the first time in 3 weeks, and I gained .6 of a pound. I consider that a victory! Now to once again really focus by maintaining a food journal, and increase physical activity. It only a numbers game, if we could only figure that out. LOL

One of my dear friends was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. After reading about it, I see only 1% of these paitients survive after one year. I am so sad for me, and her husband. Sad...

Hal has a new CD out, but it was only released in Europe. He is going to release a single here in the US. He will add LeeAnn Rimes to it, and they are shooting a video for it also. You guys may just be able to see him in action. The CD is very good. Naturally.. LOL

I picked up the new Allison Krauss CD, A Hundred Miles Or More. It is a compilation of some of her old duets and has 4 new songs. Also incredible.

I want an IPod. I've been shopping around, and whew they are expensive!

We are in school until June 10th due to 7 snow days. Our summer will be about 6 weeks long. If you factor in required training days, it comes down t a month if you have no other school commitments. Short summer, for sure.

Nita: Hang in there. I took care of my Grandmother for 10 years with Alzheimers and I know how stressful it can be. In the end, I remembered how thankful she was for my dedicated part in her life - when everyone else walked. It is difficult to diet, especially if you are like me and use food as a medication.

OneDay: Always good to hear from you!

Shad: Your trip is coming up soon? Be ready for increasing gasoline costs here. If you are doing a lot of driving, it will make a difference.

Well girls, I hope everyone is doing just fine. Post when you can!!!

Hi Chicksters~~~
Been away from here for some time. Things just got so crazy. I hauled my laptop to Laughlin, but you would have had to pay 9 bucks a day to go on line, nothing is free by a casino i guess. So i did not bother using it. Didn't do that great w/food choices, but as of today I am still maintaining. Ups and downs probably occuring inbetween for sure. Also we got in a quick trip to Mexico this year. Some friends had to go back for a follow up dental thing and asked us to go. I have been needing glasses for many yrs now(no insurance any more for that) so we took them up on it. It was a long trip but we survived and did not have to stay overnite. But then i got sick afterwards. But i'm not blaming it on that country. I think I had the flu. I did not eat for nearly a day. Drank water, powerade, a tad of yogurt and ckn soup finally when it would stay down. So that got me back on track. I am keeping my portions very small just like my stomach got used to during this weird illness thing. Now it's down to the wire as to when we leave from here and start the journey home....probably Thurs. So i may not be able to post till we arrive at his sisters in Denver now. But i will check in then for sure. You girls all stay strong and keep moving and losing.

Still sending out a note to CAT~~where are you girl? Anyone have her regular email or that to contact her and see if she is ok?

Till later,

OH! and lets all do our best to help out w/earth day! I watched oprah and am going to do some of the little things like use less plastic and use more tin foil etc. We already don't use paper napkins. When we need something DH and i split a piece of the bigger paper towel. And I have been doing good by getting grocery totes from Trader Joes and using them. Taking them home to try to do the same there. BYeeeeee!

Morning all,
Just dashing in and out to let you know I haven't forgotten about you all. I've been very busy with work. Not having the internet at home is very inconvenient I can tell you.

Still exercising solidly 5 or six mornings a week. It is paying off in different ways.
I don't seem to be losing much weight, but my breathing is certainly better. I don't feel like I am going to run out of puff in the pool anymore, and I am definitely more muscley (if there is such a word).

Plans for the trip nearly all finalised now. Just need a bit of accommodation in a couple of places. Then I have to get myself home in 2 weeks time (yes my contract is nearly up) and then 2 weeks later I am winging my way towards you all.

Hope everyone is fit and well and getting on with their goals and aspirations. Nita, hope the chemo and radiation is working for the DH.

Better go sort out the next class. I'll catch up again before too long.

Hello Ladies

Where did this week go? Before I knew it it was friday. Hope everyone is doing ok. I'm still working out 3 days a week and really trying to watch my food. I think i'm on a plateau so I need to do something to get my loss going again. Shad, you inspired me to bump up my workouts to 4 days next week.

Shad - You have got your hands full working and trying to plan this big vacation. Be sure and let us know your itenary, so if you in the area or nearby we can try and meet.

Hope everyone is doing ok and hope to hear from you all soon.

Good Evening Ladies,

Can you believe it tomorrow is already May 1st. My the times does fly by. Unfortunately for the month of April i only lost 1 lb. A lb loss is good, but I was hoping for more. This month I'm going to shake things up a bit. I'm going to increase my cardio, whether it's taking a extra walk at lunch or walking the dog in the evenings.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Hope to hear from you all soon.
