Eight by Easter goal!

OK - so far I've done 14 lbs by the 14th Feb, 12 lbs by Paddy's Day - my next goal is Eight by Easter.

There are 4.5 weeks to go till Easter so a nice easy challenge - it works out at 1.75 lbs per week to lose 8 by Easter.

Or you can aim to lose more if you like - anyone else want to join me?

Losingitin06 03-15-2006 01:40 PM

I'll join you :)
i'm 204 now.. so i'd be at 196.. finally in ONEderland!

OneLastTime 03-15-2006 03:59 PM

I'm in, I'm in!!
I like these mini goals, I think they'll keep me on track better.

Me too. This will be my first real mini. Keep your fingers, toes, and eyes crossed.

No, I'm not following you around, Robsia . . . it just looks that way.:D

Cheryl120 03-15-2006 05:23 PM

Robsia, Of course I'm in!! Since we both made our St Paddy's goal early, I started as of yesterday. So, ladies I have 7 to go to reach my golden egg.

Cheryl

jelynn 03-15-2006 07:26 PM

I'm in! This will be a true challenge for me as I'm going to Washington DC for the week before Easter and will be eating every meal out!! I'm already planning on getting on the treadmill at the hotel though, I can do it!

OneLastTime 03-15-2006 10:18 PM

Hey, it's awesome to see some faces here I already know and I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of you....AND WE'RE OFF....
~ Sandra

Robsia 03-16-2006 04:11 AM

Well, I'm down half a pound so far - it's a start!!

ArtsyGirl 03-16-2006 07:01 AM

Hi gals, the scale has been all over the place so I'm going to start at 137. Can't wait to get to know everyone (although alot of you look familiar!) Have a good one today.

Losing4another 03-16-2006 07:21 AM

A mini goal sounds great.....I think most of us always think of the bigger goal would love to start little this time:carrot: A result that I will actually see in the near future YEAH

Robsia 03-16-2006 07:53 AM

Of course, the real challenge will be to not eat any of those yummy Easter Eggs that wil be around the place at the end of it all!! :(

I've been OK so far in that I just don't buy tempting things. My daughter is a tad rounded too so we both went on a health kick at the same time. I allow her sweets on Saturdays but not many and she eats them after lunch so they're not hanging around the house.

But if there's chocolate just sitting there in the fridge it's going to be very hard not to pick. Yet I can't deprive her of her Easter Eggs - she's only 4!

Time to test the old will-power!

Losing4another 03-16-2006 09:20 AM

Robsia- Thats a good idea only giving the sweets on Saturdays. I bought those 100 calorie packs of crackers and cookies. That will keep both me and my daughter out of a box of cookies or crackers.

meowee 03-16-2006 09:31 AM

I have trouble depriving myself of an easter egg . . . Cadbury's mini eggs call my name from the store shelves . . . I've decided I will allow myself to have one on Easter Sunday . . . and only after I've lost my Eight for Easter.

Wide in Winnipeg 03-16-2006 12:33 PM

Would you believe I've never had a problem with chocolate!! Unreal! For me it's potato chips, and alot of them!I have managed to stay away from them for a few days now!Thank goodness!
Can't wait to get to know the girls I don't know here on this thread!!

Wendy:hug:

meowee 03-16-2006 03:26 PM

This is hilarious, Wendy. I honestly cannot remember the last time I even wanted a potato chip let alone ate one . . . years and years ago. I'll guard your chips if you'll guard my chocolate. :nono:

Wide in Winnipeg 03-16-2006 03:46 PM

Meowee~ you got a deal!!:D LOL!!!From one Canadian to another!
Just something about those salty chips I adore......yum!

Wendy

Robsia 03-16-2006 03:52 PM

I've just figured out that once I hit my Easter goal of 179 my BMI drops to 29.8 and I won't be obese any more - I'll 'just' be overweight!!

Now THAT will definitely something to celebrate!! Not with a big chocolate egg though :(

flamejobgrrl 03-16-2006 09:44 PM

I am in!! My goal is 5 lbs and gym 3 times a week at a minimum. I am putting on muscle though, like mad, so not sure if I can reach the scale goal.

ArtsyGirl 03-17-2006 07:43 AM

Wow flamejobgrrl you are doing awesome on your loss! Got any pointers? Congrats.

Losing4another 03-17-2006 08:04 AM

 my scale is playing tricks with me...first it says 2 pounds gone ...then it says no loss...then 2 pounds gone again ...darn scale which is it:?:

flamejobgrrl 03-17-2006 08:36 AM

Hey all - saw a post about those 100 calorie snacks....for the chocolate lovers you can also get the Cadbury thin chocolates. The one with the toffee chips is divine!!!!!!

Tofat: tips - you gotta move and burn more calories than you take in. I cut the carbs out as much as possible as well.

meowee 03-17-2006 10:13 AM

Happy St. Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, he's wearing a white coat here in Nova Scotia. We finally got some more snow. Only an inch or so and it's above freezing so if the sun will keep shining it will all be gone again soon.

Robsia . . . Fantastic . . . now that's a double goal . . . double the incentive.

Flame . . . Wow . . . you've been doing so well . . . look at that total lost so far.

Losing4 . . . scales have bad days, too. My old scales used to do that with regularity. The new ones seem pretty stable, so far.

Have a good day. Keep on working it. :carrot:

Wide in Winnipeg 03-17-2006 12:25 PM

You are all doing a great job!!!
~Wendy~

flamejobgrrl 03-17-2006 10:32 PM

Friend just came back from the States - so many good low calorie choices at the grocery stores. I am jealous :(

Robsia 03-18-2006 06:26 AM

Yay - was down 0.9 this morning after two 0.2s so I can officially drop a pound from my Easter goal.

How is everyone doing?

ArtsyGirl 03-18-2006 09:04 AM

Morning-I just weighed myself and the scale said 135.5 that's down 1.5. Seems huge for a short time but I really buggered myself up last weekend and just today am down to what I was last Saturday.

Robsia-great job on your loss!!!

meowee 03-18-2006 11:56 AM

Hi all . . . Congrats to those of you showing a loss already . . . thought about weighing this morning but decided against it . . . I don't do well with the normal ups and downs so I'll just stick to my regular ww (wednesday weigh-in) not WW (Weight Watchers) ;)

I know how you feel, Flame. We just don't get as many great choices here in the frozen North. We do have the Loblaws/Zhers/SuperStore 'Blue Menu' line which are very good. What about the UK? How's the special grocery shopping there, Robsia?

This site was recommended to me because of the low carb stuff. Haven't ordered anything yet, but I'm thinking about it. http://www17.netrition.com They have some fantastic sounding stuff. My experience ordering from the US has not been good. Canada Customs tends to tack on a lot of taxes, duties, and special fees.

Have a great day, gang. Keep doing all the right stuff. :carrot:

Robsia 03-18-2006 02:32 PM

Well, we get Weight Watchers meals which I have never tried - also Lean Cuisine, again which I've never tried.

Usually the only ready meals I buy are Morrison's Eat Smart range (Morrisons is a supermarket chain) which has meals below 400 cals. Their Chicken Stoganoff with rice is yummy!

Walkers also makes varieties of crisps which are below 100 cals per pack, and there ar tons of low-fat/no-fat yogs and things.

A favourite is Cadbury's half fat chocolate mousses which is 70 cals per pot. I allow myself 2 a day or one and a yoghurt. That's if there are any left after my dd raids the fridge.

There's also a range of biscuits and cakes called Go For It but TBH the calorie count doesn't really look much different from normal ones and I know me with biscuits and cakes - I'd eat the whole packet in one go!

So we do pretty well for 'diet' groceries I suppose but you do still have to be careful.

Wide in Winnipeg 03-18-2006 04:14 PM

ah crisps, how I miss thee!! lol!! When I was in Scotland (along time ago) they had crisps called "outerspacers" and I absolutly LOVED them!! Then I went back a couple years after that and they had stopped making them:( oh well, just thought I'd share that.

I'm having fish and chips tonight without the chips of course!:D I'll toss up a salad instead!

Have a great day!
Wendy

meowee 03-18-2006 04:16 PM

Just me again.

Thanks for the information, Robsia. We get Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers, too. Also some of the South Beach is starting to come in. Our Blue Menu line sounds comparable to your Morrisons. Blue Menu now has over 200 items and I've yet to meet a bad one.

Flame (and Wendy) (and any other Canadians). I just found this site. They are located in Toronto. http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com

Only a fraction of the stuff available on the other site I linked to earlier, of course. But they do have the thing I was looking for which is Carbquick Baking Mix (low carb version of Bisquick). Costs almost twice as much, but that's about what it would be after Canada Customs got through with you anyway.

See you later gang. Must go post this link for my friends on the Diabetes thread. :carrot:

Cheryl120 03-18-2006 09:03 PM

Hi Ladies,

Just a quick check in tonight. I had a good day yesterday except for food choices that is. Went to Hardee's and ate way over my points. But, I'm back on track today and ate well within my points.

I love Lean Cuisine all meat and peperoni pizza. They are 7 and 8 points each or around 350 calories. I usually have one for lunch with a salad and a piece of fruit.

Robsia...My reward to myself for making my ST Paddy's goal was to color my hair. Not only did I shock my husband when he came home from work today, but myself.:fr: The color I bought was Auburn with red hightlights to cover up my mousy brown hair with LOTS of grey. It's growing on me! I like it, and that's all that's count, even tho my husband like's the old me better. MEN!!!

Till later,

Cheryl

Losing4another 03-18-2006 10:07 PM

Cheryl- have you tried the healthy choice french bread pizza's? They are 7 points a piece also and big enough to fill you up.

Tonight I had KFC well sorta a place called Lee's but basically the same thing. I took all the skin off the chicken and was very proud of myself for doing so...thats the best part :) The dinner wasn't worth the points though. I was on the road and had no choice...it was eat there or have to wait until 7pm with having to go into the store starving then come home and make myself something to eat.
My scale finally decided to make up it's mind ........ one pound down from my 8 pound easter goal YEAH!!!! 7 pounds to go :)

GR8 2B48 03-19-2006 04:21 PM

Hi,

I'd like to join in. :grouphug: My mini goal is to lose 10 lbs. by Easter. That will bring me down to 224 lbs. Best wishes to all.

Denise

Wide in Winnipeg 03-19-2006 04:35 PM

Welcome Denise!!

Losing4another 03-19-2006 06:40 PM
