Way to go, Gail. I, too, discovered the hard way, that I must track what I eat on paper. It's amazing what you can stuff in when you don't pay attention.
I write down all my choices on a little log-slip and then I enter the day into my excel program which tracks a week at a time and then transfers the weekly average to an annual spreadsheet. It really keeps me going because if I don't enter a single day, it will also screw up my log for the week, which will also screw up the annual sheet, too. So even if I slip over my max one day, I still enter it. Have a good day. Keep on tracking your points. :carrot: |
Hi Everyone!
Shortrich...WHOOHOO on 2.5 pounds gone!  Elyn...I bought Auburn hair coloring with red hightlights yesterday and shocked my husband when he came home from work today :fr: I had mousy brown hair with lots of grey, but not anymore!! I think it makes me look 10 years younger. I also like WW and counting points, but I totally blew it with Hardee's yesterday. Yes! The fries and chicken sandwich were sooooo gooood:devil: But, it came to 32 points when I got home and looked it up. YIKES!!!! So it was back on track today with proper eating. That's why I exercise 6 days a week. For my occasional CHEATS  ~Cheryl |
hi
Good morning all. I am reporting in this morning! It's my weigh in day and I wish I didn't have to report a GAIN! But I do. I gained a pound! i don't know why, I haven't over eaten and I've exercised. But, these things happen and we have to take it in stride and remember that we're in this for the long haul.
Meow, I am a great believer in journaling too. It's way too easy to miscalculate the amount of calories you eat. And portion size!!! I still have to get the measuring cups and spoons out occasionally and make sure i'm not being too generous with some things. Cheryl, I bet you look TOO KOOL with your new hair color! Nothing like shaking hubby up a bit occasionally! I got my hair cut and colored too. Just my normal blond streaks but it looks sooooo much better. I love grey hair, but on me it just looks mousey and dull. I'm glad you got back on your diet plan. It's so easy to say "i'll start tomorrow". But tomorrow never comes and it just gets harder. Just think about where you would be if yu had started this a year ago. That is a wasted year and you don't want to be in the same place next year, looking back and thinking of all the weight you could have lost. Short, :cheer: 2.5lb. is great!! Keep up the good work! I hope you're feeling better. That stomach flu is not fun. I had it last week and it really took me down for a couple of days. And you're right, with the diabetes that runs in your family, you really need to keep yourself fit. Exercise and diet can be such a help and can controle a lot of type 2 diabetes. But eating sugar doesn't cause diabetes, you know that, right? It's for me, I, too, can't imagine what our grandmothers went through withought the medication we had today. For so many things, like menopause and thryroid disease. You know how hard it is to deal with even with medication. I remember my grandma (now 96) telling that her mother went "crazy" during memopause! Gail, WW is a great organization and they have a good system. I know it will work for you if you let it! Actually, most diets work if you can stict to them. The problem is finding one that you can follow in the long run. I like WW because it teaches you portion controle and encourages healthy eating with a few added "treats" thrown in there. It gives you choices but encourages you to make good ones. Everyone, go make it a good day, Freda |
Good Morning . . .
Nothing very exciting in my world today. The sun is shining and it's cold but it looks like the heavy snow they were predicting is going to miss us; at least I certainly hope so. :^: Congratulations for doing and thinking and planning the right stuff, everybody. It's very important that we all realize that one day does not make or break our long term efforts. If we just keep moving along in the right direction we will reach our desired destination. See you all later. Keep a-moving and a-shaking, just like little carrot-kid. :carrot: |
Another Monday morning and I'm happy to report a 2.5 lb loss! That is all new weight loss for the year, so I've lost 12.5 lbs. this year.
As I said that big WW loss included a few pounds I had gained back this year already, so I'm more happy with this 2.5 pound loss. Freda You've got the right attitude about taking a small gain in stride, especially if you know you've been doing everything right. Besides aren't you almost to goal; it's sure a lot harder to lose those last few pounds I hear. (I wouldn't know personally!!) I was just thinking this morning if God had made me taller, I could weigh more! Also, the less I get to weighing, the less I can eat. Pretty soon, I'll be down to 22 points a day, instead of 24. Oh well, I'll take the fewer points, with the fewer pounds on me! Meeow I forget how to spell you, but I sure hope the snow storm we're supposed to get tomorrow misses us too! I'm so ready for spring...which officially starts this afternoon! Have a great week everyone...where is everyone anyway??? |
Haven't kept up here lately and I apologize for that!!
Today was my weigh-in day and I didn't lose anything, but didn't gain either. Considering my on-going health stuff happening right now, I feel like it was still a successful week for me. And there's always NEXT week's weigh in :) I have stayed faithful to my diet - it's been 48 days now and I'm happy that I have not gone "off" even once in that time. Little by little I hope my efforts will pay off. Even with the 10 or so lbs I've managed to lose so far, I feel SO much better, especially when I put my old jeans on - they are actually a bit baggy!!! No waistband cutting into my stomach when I sit down. Hope it is a good week for everyone on a program here  Hy |
Good Morning everyone~
Congrats to all who have lost weight:woo: :woo: :balloons: :balloons: :cheer: :cheer: as well as to those who've been keeping up with their program. Freda~ 1 pound gain? that's nothing girl, just probably some water- our weight fluctuates all the time, daily as well as within a day, even. Besides you can afford it! For me, that would be a disaster. Is your 96 yrs. old gradma still alive?~ WOW! Maybe you'll make it to 100- it's in the genes, you know.;) Cheryl~Auburn with red hightlightshttp://bffc.net/icons2/whistle.gif:smoking: :smoking:   bet ya, DH was pleased, not shocked.;) There you go, not only can we buy hormones nowadays, we can buy new hair as well!   I'm happy to report a 2.5lbs. lost, so the ankle injury did not actually cause a big setback~ whew! I wonder if I can make it to my goal weight of 139lbs. by April16? My diet software says I could if I have a net calorie intake of 800 daily~ well, I'm not about to kill myself by eating only 800 cals.:dizzy: :faint: :nono: Sometimes my diet software comes up with different quotations and when I started it yesterday after not using it for almost 2 weeks this came up: "It is no disgrace to start all over. It is usually an opportunity."~George M. Adams I thought I should share it. Have a good day everyone. |
Good morning. . . fairly mild today . . . and rather dull, too. for some reason they always seem to go together at this time of year.
Good loss, Gail. Loved the comment about being taller. I've often thought how much taller I'd be if so much of me wasn't folded under for feet. We missed you, Hy. You are so right. The way we feel and the way our clothes fit are more important than what the scale says. Good loss for you too, Elyn. Glad you decided 800 calories is too low to go. Love the quote. Have a good day. We'll see you all soon. :carrot: |

hi
Hi everyone,
:cheer: to Gail and Elyn for their weight loss! And for you to Hy for maintaining!!!! Way to go! Gail, You're right about being able to eat less points the closer you get to goal. But, you'll be smaller then too and your body won't require as much. What we have to work on is the habbit of eating the way we are. Hy, Yeah for you for staying on your diet for a WHOLE 48 days! Show's determination. And every day is another day closer to getting healthy. And isn't it such a good feeling to put on a pair of paints that were tight and find that they're loose? Elyn, Yes, my grandma (96) is still very much alive! Her health isn't the best but her mind is sharp as a tact!!! My other grandma would have been 100 on her next birthday when she passed away. And she enjoyed good health and a sharp mind intill a few months before she died! So, i'm hoping that by taking care of myself that I will be as lucky! And good for you for not dropped too low with the calories! Health is first, and I don't think you can get enough nutrition on too few calories. I know it is a temptation sometimes, for me too!!!! But in the long run it's just not worth it! Dance, Good to hear from you again! Ladies, I have a problem! I know most of you are just going to roll your eyes but it's a serious problem for me. I'm within a couple of pounds of my goal. A couple of pounds isn't going to make a great deal of difference in my size, I know that, it's just for my satisfaction. And i'm in the size I wanted to be, a 6. I'm 5'1" and I weigh 117. Why do I still see a fat person in the mirrow? Why do I think "if a 6 is good, maybe I would look better at a size 4"? Does it take time to adjust to your new body size? Is it just conditioning? Go make it a good day, Freda |

This is my theory about that - I think it is a fear response. You have attained (or are close to) your goal and know the work it took to get there. Losing even more than you planned maybe would give a little safety net in case you have difficulty when you decide in your own mind to go into mainintence. And I think some of it too just has to do with exploring the possiblities. After all, you're a different size now. It's healthy to be able re-assess and be flexible. OK...size 6 was your goal; now maybe it's changed. The danger sign would be if you achieve your goal for a size 6 and then say "why can't I wear a size 0???" One idea might be to maintain the weight at 117 or so for a couple months, just to prove to yourself that you can, and then if you think you'd like to lose a bit more at that point, you have some perpective. NOT that I am an expert - lol!! Just a couple thoughts off the top of my head. Interesting question! Hy |
Excellent answer, Hy. I couldn't agree more.
I definitely think we all have a very strong fear of success. That it won't be good enough, somehow. Having to face the fact that you succeeded, Freda, is worse for you right now than all the fears of failure ever were. You're also, no doubt, telling yourself you'll never be able to maintain it either; so you think it might be easier to just tell yourself you aren't there yet. Face it girl, you have made it. Now you need to give your mind time to realize it; and to accept it. You are a fabulous and strong woman. Enjoy. :bravo: |
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick check in to report no loss and no gain for this week. I'm fine with that considering I had more than a few cheats this week. Freda...I agree with Hy. I think it's fear. I would give anything to be back at 125 lbs, that's what I weighed over 30 years ago. It took me over a year to go from 190 to 125 in my senior year of High School, but I still saw the fat me when I looked in a mirror, and felt fat as well. Trying hard to love myself at any weight, but working towards my goal of 120 lbs for now. Then I probably set a new goal of 113 for my 5' frame. Congrats to those that had losses this week! WTG gal's. Cheryl |
Well, here we are again . . . official ww for me and I get to ship another pound off to 'ugly-pound-heaven'. On Sunday, it was shaping up to be two, but one of those decided it wasn't ready to become 'official' yet . . . so down one it is. :D
Nothing else is exciting around here. The weather is feeling a little dull and so am I. Hopefully we'll both brighten up soon.:) Have a great day, gang. Keep on moving in the right direction. :carrot: |
Meowee, so glad that pound went bye bye... the other one sounds like it is well on its way also!!!
