We have 3 kids at our school whose father murdered his estranged wife's 17 year old boyfriend a couple of nights ago. The oldest son witnessed it. Please pray for these boys. Mom is a drug addict and has custody of them, since dad is now in jail. It is a very sad situation. Kind of makes you look at your own and think of how lucky we all are!

Gayle-I must have done something wrong with the tamale pie recipe. Made it in the crock and it turned out too soupy, so I ended up having Patty run to the store and get some taco chips for them, so they could have nachos. It tasted good though. I think I should have browned the hamburger meat first.

The batch I made was fairly firm, but I agree, the hamburger seemed kinda "mushy". If I make it again, I will brown the hamburger too.

Hey, Y'all ( I am so not from the south so i dont know whats with the y'all. I should be saying Yo! with my new Jersey accent) But anyway...Things are good here. I lost 2 lbs which is not acceptable in my book. I dont know what i did wrong. ( Ok i know what you are thinking but i am so competitive and i always have to do better than what i have done). Thursday we had a dinner thing at this hoity toity Mexican place for a friend that turned 30. (YIKES!!!.. At least i still have some time but as of july i can say im in my upper 20s... :O) The food wasnt my thing. If am going to eat mexican i want real food. Not tacos with fancy schmancy arrugala and sprouts with stuff i cant pronounce. And burritos with crap in it that i never hear of. I only ate a triangle of a quesadilla and a few bites of my burrito. I ate my huspands veggies. However.........I drank way way way to much margaritas so bye bye flex points. They are a weakness for me and when you are with people who are boring there isnt much else to do. Luckily they were replenished the next day.
Well today is superbowl sunday. How is everyone coping? What is everyone doing? Have you duct taped your huspand's mouths shut yet? My huspand bought a half dozen cannolis and some peunut butter cookie thing which he ate infront of me. I am making speghetti and meatballs but i got the recipe from dottie's. I am making onion dip for him with chips and he bought a stromboli and some chicken wing thing. I have no interest in either. But the speghtti and the cannolis are going to be a problem. He has had a stomach bug so if he gets sick i dont wanna hear it. :P
BTW- I made some kind of tamale pie in the oven but it was like a lasngna. Instead of noodles i used corn tortillas. I browned ground beef mixed with taco seasoning and salsa and frozen corn. I put a layer on the bottum then the meat. did that until it was gone. Then topped it with Fat free cheese. It was good.

Shelly that is such a sad story. They will be in my thoughts.

GO STEELERS!

It's just hubby and I so it will be a quiet evening here, but I'm splurging on calories tonight and ordering pizza to have while we watch the game...it's tradition.

Gayle ~ You have no idea how excited I am for April to get here and the closer it gets the more excited I get! You all are going to get really sick of hearing the countdown!

Baby Skylyn is in my prayers...please keep us posted on her condition.

Shelley ~ My prayers also are with the family from your school. What an awful thing for those children to have to go through!

This tamale pie sounds good...where's the recipe? Did I miss it somehow?

Suzy, the recipe Shelley and I are taking about is a crockpot core recipe using cornmeal. Enjoy the pizza tonight! I'm sure you'll weigh-in just fine unless you eat over 3,000 calories of pizza!!! :-)
Baby Skylyn is a fighter! She is off of the respirater and only has oxygen. From the top of her head, stretched out to her toes, she is 12" long.
the doctors are telling her mom it is looking good.

Erin, I'm sending wishes your way to avoid all temptation this evening. The Tamale pie recipe sounds yummy! My hubby is going to the hospital to watch the game with his dad, this means a quiet evening for me at home with the girls. I'm a Sylvia Browne fan so I will probably watch a video I recorded of her Montel episodes. When Steve gets home, we are planning a few snacks but they will be somewhat healthy ones. I have a feeling wine is what is going to get me in trouble tonight instead of the food.

Guess what!!!! I paid $5.00 for a super bowl square one of the venders was peddling at the store. My numbers are 0 & 0, so I already won $50.00! If each quarter and at the end of the game the last digits of the score match my numbers, I win more money!

Hope everyone is having a SUPER weekend!

Shelley, how very sad about the family. How old are the kids? Hopefully some decent family members will come forward and be able to help out with the children.

Sorry to say, I don't watch the Super Bowl. Neither does Mike. Patty has a friend over to watch it in her room.

The boys in that family are 11, 9, and 6. Mom has custody. They weren't in school Friday, but our guidance counselor went over to the apt. and brought the oldest one back to school. There is nothing that can be done right now about the fact that mom is a drug addict. Maybe once DCF gets involved something will happen. I was able to get them a bus, so they will have a way to return to school.

Erin-You are too funny. I guess margaritas would be the answer to deal with boring company! I think 2 lbs is wonderful.

Suzy-Okay, I forget. Why are you so excited about April? Wasn't it a family reunion?

Sherry-How are you doing, and where the heck is Debbie??? I miss hearing from her.

Ramona-You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please check in when you can.

Dee-I know you are doing some fun stuff in PV at this time!

Okay...here is the damage.. I am fessing up. Its not so bad. A handful of chips with lowfat onion dip. A plateful of "sketties" with 3 meatballs. 3 pieces of Italian bread. 1 beer (light) that i didnt finish. (It turns out that "wedding beer" from October while it makes a nice momento doesnt taste real good). and a cannoli. Ouch...I feel gross. It could have been a **** of a lot worse. Compared to last year....

Suzy- Thats so great about your son. You must be soo exited. I am so excited for you.

Gayle-I am sorry about your father in law. The hospital sounds really icky. He is lucky to have you guys around to fiend for him and be his advocate.
Thats great news about the baby. Its amazing what they can do isnt it?
I kinda like sylvia browne too. I would like to have a half an hour with her. She has a radio show on Sirius that i catch sometimes which is kinda neat. I always end up crying though. Anyway...BAck to the game... I hope you all have a splendid week!

You guys will think I'm crazy, but Steve actually purchased tickets for me to a Sylvia Browne lecture in July of this year. She will select some people out of the group to do a private reading with. I catch her on Hayhouse radio on the net. In fact they have archives of the programs available so you can catch it whenever you want. I've had just enough "unexplained" things happen to me that her messages intrigue me.

Erin, you did well controlling your munchies during the game. It could of been a whole lot worse! GREAT JOB DROPPING THE 2 POUNDS!

FIL not doing good tonight. He was better yesterday and they were looking at releasing him on Monday. Today he is ill, vomiting and is having periods of slurred/jumbled speech. They will do a cat scan in the morning. Possible could be a TIA which is best explained as a mini stroke.

Shelley, I'm not a football fan either. In fact, when the vender wanted me to bet on a square, I just closed my eyes and pointed! LOL! Now I'm just checking in every so often to watch the score to see if I make any more big money! LOL!

I had a 3 pound gain this week and it is no surprise. I have not been staying OP since we have been going back and forth to the hospital. I'm sure this next week, I will have a loss. I'm preparing some things ahead so hopefully I can run home and grab instead of trying to find something healthy at the hospital or closest fast food place.

Allison is home sick today. We were up until around 4:00 this morning. She is all congested and had an earache during the night. Hopefully it is just a cold instead of her asthma flaring up. When she becomes congested and starts coughing, she then gets so choked up she usually vomits. Sooooooo it was a very fun night here....Steve missed it all, he was at the hospital all night.

Poor little Allison. I hope she's better now.

Gayle-I am right there with you. Is all I want to do is eat. I ate Cracklin Oat Bran last night, and now the box is calling me back. What is my problem? My weight is up and is going up more. I am beginning to think that I may get my period back again. I feel kind of like it.
