Oh..and can I ask what everyone's WL tactics are? I'm watching the calories and easing into more activity (I have fibro which sometimes cuts into my activity levels)

I totally agree with this. I think the big thing is not to put up obstacles where there are none! What do they say--shoot for the stars and you just might get there, if not you'll get to the moon? I'm so bad at remembering those type of things...so I hope you understand what I was trying to say!

Ok Guys, I'm ready to get started. I going to start small so don't laugh.
I declare that I will drink atleast 64 ozs. of water daily ( challenge 1) and do my Leslie Sansone 1 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD ( challenge 2). I'll start fresh tomorrow. Thanks for having me.

What do you mean by food porn??? :?:
It's not that I'm quiet, I just have very limited internet access these days and very little time for it anyway. :(

w00t! :woo: I think starting small and then building up on those goals is the way to go. You and Tay are both doing water--do you normally drink water or do you shy away from it? (I'm a water chugger by nature).

REal quick post. I forgot one important thing. I weighed in today, and lost two pounds. I have challenge #3, to lose an average of 2 pounds a week.

I even updated my signature to admit where I am actually at - all the holiday pounds I gained :(

carla49 01-24-2006 11:03 PM

No challenge right now, just a championship overeating-while-travelling gig. I will be so sorry next week... they keep serving *food porn* at coffee breaks, and I'm so weak...

Jolly, good going on the two pounds down! :woo:

Sushi, Red :drill: has forbidden descriptions (or in fact any mention) of yummy, sweet, decadent, naughty foods. So whenever we want to confess to eating something, we just say *food porn* instead of being specific. The idea being to not lead others into temptation. Bummer that you can't get on line whenever you want, but it'll happen. Meanwhile, you're really doing well.

Tia, no one's going to laugh at your challenges! They sound tough enough to me. Lots of us try (and fail) at water and other seemingly easy challenges. I know I've started a few pretty ambitious challenges, and have gradually reduced my expectations. And I was pretty proud of myself for completing a 50 oz per day challenge last week. We're glad to have you on board.

A: Food (3-1) -Day 8 (Jan. 24) Done
B: H2O (3) - Day 9 (Jan. 24) Done
C: Gym (3-1) - Day 8 (Jan. 24) Worked out at the gym. Cardio and press.
Then me and my friend went to sauna.
It was so awesome.... feeling so relaxed and as if my skin is ready to breathe...

redballoon 01-25-2006 03:55 AM

dog day afternoon....

Do any of you ever feel like this at the end of the day or after your workout?

Shad 01-25-2006 04:20 AM

I often feel like that Red.

Evening all,

Day 19 is done for both challenges. I'm not losing anything either so Curly and I ought to get in a corner together and whinge. I'm very tired of being good and nothing happening. More than once I have decided that I am the best maintainer in the entire world so I will no longer try, I will just maintain. I'm back at that point now. Don't know whether I will start another challenge after this one is done.

Too much else to do than obsess over food.

redballoon 01-25-2006 06:08 AM

pause on caffeine...others clear....so far..

Hello there, everyone. It is Wednesday night here and I'm winding down for the day. The brainstorming meeting went well, I think. It's not all that much money but it'll help. And, it could help me with some other work I'm thinking of doing on my own. I also got to the gym, and though I hadn't felt like doing much, I ran 5K and did my crunches etc. I must admit that I took a pause day on the caffeine and ate a bit of smut, but I did write it down and thought on the feelings that make me do this. Good or bad or neutral, the thinking about it and, what's more important, the thinking about what I can do NOT to do it, is really interesting and helpful I think, or, it will be helpful in the long run. Until now, I either just journaled the food and maybe did a journal on feelings but I never before thought, well, what can I do to turn this around or start new responses to the what seem to be the emotional triggers that set me off looking for those old numbing edibles. So, I'm hoping things will change, meaning, I'll make better decisions about whether to eat or not and what to eat and do that all more consistently.

Shad -- You don't sound too good, even though you're sticking to your challenges. I'd hate to see you go after these ones are done, but if you're not feeling up to it...well, maybe you can just take some time off. Like Curly, all I can say is that it sounds like both have to reassess what "being good" entails and shake something up. I've come to accept that what I do, which also entails a lot of "being good," is simply not enough to lose weight. I know that and at the moment, I just don't feel like giving it that extra push to lose it. But I feel the desire building, which is something I haven't felt before. Before, it's been a have-to, have-to kind of feeling, an obligatory kind of thing, but recently, I'm thinking of actually really wanting to lose more fat. Oh well, this may not be helping you. I just hate to see you giving up. Then again, maintaining is certainly not giving up. It's a kind of weight loss itself. You still have to do everything involved in weight loss. I'd say you are just so close to your goal that you have to do more, more exercise, less eating, I don't know but something.

CBETA -- Good for you and all your efforts! Glad you enjoyed the sauna.

carla -- Thanks for stepping in and explaining "food porn"....marble would say it was because you indulge in the most of it...I didn't say it!!! ...then again you are in the middle of a championship, so maybe it's fitting.... ;)

jolly -- Look at this girl! She "forgets" what people are checking the scales over and over and over for...she "forgets" to tell us that she has lost two pounds!!!! Hurrah for you! :cp: And good for you for bravely updating the signature. Your challenge No. 3 won't work as an every-day challenge but feel free to keep it there as a kind of extracurricular challenge!

Karla -- Fellow water-chugger! Me too, I am always drinking the stuff and no running to the loo. I sweat a lot and being a vegetarian, eat a lot of fiber, beans and stuff and that makes you want to drink.

Sushi -- carla filled you in. I know you have limited Net access, or I did and forgot. :^: I was kind of kidding with the "no food porn" thing for your challenge of posting what you eat, but what we try to avoid here is what often happens...people start going on and on about their slipups, their indulgences, and whether they enjoy doing it or not, like carla said, I don't think it's fair to others who ARE trying to avoid such things. I want to keep the challenge out there and visible as much as possible. We have to maintain focus. Sorry if I scared you there!

tia -- Glad to have you aboard! :welcome: Yes, your challenges sound good and, like others have said, NO ONE is going to laugh....they wouldn't dare!! Grrrrr.

curly -- You're not saying much. Still frustrated as all heck?

Karla -- You knew what an ailurophile was?! I'm impressed! I never heard of catster but see it now on the Net. How do we find your cats? I'll have to put my one-eyed babe up there when I get some pictures of her. Oh, and thanks for the Raiders info. I had said to the guy who asked me that it sounded like a West Coast team's fans or maybe Detroit or possibly Philly. Ah ha! I was right on the first pick. So, your nephew is coming here at such a young age? What's he doing, a homestay program? Three weeks is pretty long. Sure, I'll meet him, but maybe you'd rather keep him away from my influence.....carla, don't say a word!.....she knows my fondness for barley and young men.... Nah, don't worry, even I think 16 is a bit young. But, gosh, what would we do together...couldn't even have a beer together...hmmm....well, he could still hang out with us....I could take him down to hang out with the beach chicks and interpret for him. ;) Hmmm....an American 16 isn't that young, is it?

chai -- Wow, you're almost there. Glad to hear you had a good time on your weekend and that your knee is better too. Smart of you to stay off it and sit out the game. I know that game meant a lot to you. Sorry to hear you have health problems. I hope they don't get worse and that you can keep them in check at least. I had to laugh at your comment to freaky...."a mental image I could have gone my entire life without having..." I don't know these people but I can imagine from your comment. Depp is so versatile. It's hard to pin him down. I liked him as the river rat in "Chocolat." Did you see that?

Tayja 01-25-2006 06:58 AM

tia, not silly at all my first challenge is 60oz of water

as for me :( :( guess yesturday was my pause day :( :(

i'm taking the pause day becuase i refuse to admit i screwed up and start over... i refuse to start over !!

i was having a crappy day... i was having a SLOW day yesturday... and a i got a really late start... and everything was just totaly messed up... then i was gunna try to guzzle the last of my water while i watched tv but my show was a rerun last night, and i was exausted and i ended up saying screw it and going to bed early... i had about 10oz left to go... i was gunna just chug it down, but i was afraid i'd end up sick if i just chugged and chugged til i drained the bottle, and i didnt wanna end up sick feeling... so i said screw it...

up early this morning and getting back on track tho !

curlylocks 01-25-2006 07:28 AM

Shad: dont give up ... I am not gonna give up.. I just need to whine a lil bit... I whine then work harder.. but i can understand where ur head is.. cuz when u are working sooo hard .. this pretty much takes over your entire life.. am i eating too much ? am i eating 2 little?

I have tweaked just about everything i can tweak.. last nite at the gym i worked out for an entire hour.. by the end my hair was soaking wet.. so I can see exercise isnt the issue... food isnt the issue... BUT eventaully something in your body must decide and let the weight go..

I have an appt. with the endocrinologist friday so .. maybe he will have some answers.. but like i said i watch every morsel that goes in my mouth and exercise my a$$ off so i dont know what to say.. other than I guess we just have to keep at it .. somethings gotta give...

RED: JUST tired here... u know how it is when work gets to ya and bills etc....an EX driving ya insane... just gotta take a moment and "get ur head back together" but u know me I'm tuff ... I will be fine and trudge on even stronger!

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES!
