Afternoon. Well I have had a nap. The warm temps have melted all the snow again and I am VERY allergic to grass mold which is now all warmed up, damp and uncovered so my head , sinuses and eyes hurt. DD is glitzing my with sparkles as I type.
I actually set up a daily fly lady journal. I am really trying to meet the daily goals I have set.
Oh, and now we have green eyeshadow on.
Meadow~ no one was drunk.Odd but true. Very subdued. I surfed the different shows but none was great.
Your New Years Eve sounded fun!
Now I have sparkle lip gloss.
Ceejay~ hope the work day is almost over and you can relax.
Madcat~ You post spoke for me as well!!!
Jaaaavvvaaaaaaa!!! Dude!!!!!
I think all my most favourite chicks are here now. Weeeeheeeeeeee!!!!
Happy~ you jumped right back into life at home with 2 feet!!!
DD is working at purple sparkle nail polish. I am sure i am next!!
Greetinks All and Happy New Year, Indeed.
I'd post photos, except apparently my blog URL isn't recognized by 3FC or it's the wrong format or something. DH made awesome flaming Crepes Suzettes last night... and aside from that (hahaha) my eating was all good yesterday!
Meadow, Thanks for the Moose and kitten photo. Isn't it amazing that BIG, POWERFUL mammals are still enamored of any teensy baby critter. That's probably why Linus wee screamer hasn't been pitched into the gorse yet.
Linda T: I think escort services are legal as long as there's no pay-for-sex!! What I wish is that we could hire "wives"... you know somebody who knows what needs to be done, and does it without complaining!
MadCat-- Hope you love your life as a redhead! Someday, you'll be able to have a house/apartment with enough space that you can at least have some SPACE all to yourself... where TB doesn't venture. I have my upstairs "office." And then there are the days DH has to work late and I come home and have the house alllll to myself.
I think I either need a nap, or need to go do more straightening.... Too much of a good thing.... the journals and the posts. TTFN.
Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year's eve. It's very stormy again here today. .. worse than a couple of days ago I think. I am not in mudslide area, thank God but I am not tempting the roads right now. Not only are they very wet, there is debris all over the place. I'm working up some new recipe for the Sonoma Diet girls so that is taking some thinking.. and making my head hurt
Holly, I'm about to hit the sofa myself for a few zzzs. The kitty is making me do it.
Linus - hope you get some peace and quiet today.
Happy, please please come flylady my house. I keep asking anyone and no one has said yes yet
Mel, do we really want to know what the batteries are for? Glad to see you pop over on the Sonoma thread. Everyone here is welcome to drop in. I might get lonely! Yes you bet your sweet bippy I'll be honest with you.. and give you a new hairdo with the prod if needed.
Shad, enjoy the warmth. It's so intersting that your Christmas is hot and the rest of us are either being snowed under or blown away by storms. I have some weeds here with your nam on then, should you venture West.
Meadow - many thanks for the lovely AB pic. I bet the fireworks were neat. I jsut heard a few illegal ones around here
Turtlebutt - Hiya chickie. Hope you and your Pooh had a nice NYE
Madkitty - those tiny furballs sure are onery, aren't they? For someone so short, they ahve a lot of nerve! I'm with you.. SIMPLIFY!!
Ceejay, sorry you have to work but good going on the raise!
Miss Ruthie. Happy New Year to you and The Girls!!
Painterwoman - You snuck in on me as I was previewing my post. I think I sure could use a wife without the sex.. actually I could use a Mommy more . Sounds like you had a nice NY
No time to go back any more pages, so sorry I missed any earlier posters!
Wow our little chat room is just bursting with new people and wonderful old friends stopping by....how lucky are we!
So nice to have people drop by to share their time with this terrific group of woman!
Some terrific quote and statements for the new year....some one asked if I made any resolutions....my one and only that I want to accomplish this year is to learn how to steelhead fish! That is my only stated proclamation but my internal motivations to be kind and to have that kindness include myself when ever making choices.
Learning from all of you is so fun and eduacational...the different helpful website that you enjoy. Some of them so helpful and to see the pics from where you live and your travels are so wonderful to view. Thanks for taking the time to share them. I look forward to more of your adventures in the coming year!
MyChristmas and New Year were very quiet and reflective this year! Sometimes you just need to stop and reflect. My animals are all doing well and I am clearing some clutter from different corners of my house and life. I am enjoying my new craft locker stitching so much so busy making some gift.
It is wonderful to see new faces and the warm and companionship of the former faces. Thanks to 3FC for providing this wonderful forum for us to cuss and discuss and explore ourselves and learn from each other. It has been a blessing for so many woman around the world.
Many Blessings to each of you and your families for the coming year, health and happiness and Peace.
Nae
I DID MY EXERCISING LAST NIGHT WHILE WATCHING A BETTY BOOP CARTOON DVD THAT JEN LENT ME. THE TIME WENT WHIZZING BY.
BTW...WHILE WEARING JIMMY'S JAMMIES, I BORROWED BATTERIES FROM A NEIGHBOR AND IT WAS ALL DONE FOR THE SAKE OF RESTORING MY KEYBOARD. THAT'S MY STORY AND I'M STICKING TO IT!
LOOKS LIKE A SUNNY DAY TODAY. GOOD FOR CONTINUED CLEANING MOTIVATION. SIMPLIFY. I INTEND TO FINISH WHAT I STARTED WITH THE SIMPLIFY STUFF LAST YEAR. MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE KEPT ALL THOSE MAGAZINES FROM "REAL SIMPLE" INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM AWAY! COME ON MAD CAT AND LET'S GET STARTED!
LET ME SAY HELLO TO THE GALS AND THEN GET ROLLING.....
MADCAT~ GLAD YOU SAID SIMPLIFY! IT WILL KEEP ME MOTIVATED TO SEE OTHERS DOING THE SAME. I HAVE FELT LIGHTER THIS YEAR WITH LESS JUNK AROUND. GOOD FOR YOU WITH THE EXERCISING AND HOPE THE BF FEELS BETTER!
HOLLY~ YOU GALS ARE GLITZED UP AND READY FOR A NIGHT ON THE TOWN. JEN USED TO LOVE DOING ALL THAT GIRLY STUFF. WE STILL BUY THE SAME MAKE-UP KITS WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES US AND TEST THEM OUT. GREAT FUN. WE ARE HAVING SOME SERIOUSLY BAD SINUS WEATHER HERE ALSO.
HAPPY~ GET ON THE DECLUTTER BANDWAGON! WE ARE ABOUT READY TO ROLL! I WAS ALSO WONDERING IF THE RECIPES FROM OUR 'OLD' PLAN WITH MT WOULD BE OF VALUE TO YOUR NEW PLAN? GOOD FOR YOU WITH THE EXERCISE TOO!! KEEP MOVING IN 2006!
MEADOW~ NOW THAT YOU SAID IT, I FORGOT TO SEE IF THE YULE LOG WAS ON THE TV! I HAD HEARD IT WOULD BE THEN PROMPTLY FORGOT!!! YOUR NIGHT SOUNDED GREAT TO ME. I LOVE THE FAMILY GAME STUFF. I ALSO LOVE THE "FEET" DOING THE WALKING!!!
SHAD~HEAT!! FIRES!! YIKES!! IT SOUNDS LIKE WHERE I AM GOING TO END UP ONE DAY!!
I DID DO THE RIGHT CLICK THING AND SAVED IT AS PICTURES. IT ENDS UP IN MY PICTURES CATAGORY BUT AS A LITTLE WINDOW THING. THEN IT REFUSES TO OPEN. IT'S BEEN THIS WAY SINCE I GOT THE PC AND I DON'T KNOW WHY MY PC DOESN'T RECOGNIZE "STILL" PICTURES. IT WILL ONLY SAVE AND OPEN ANIMATIONS!!! MAYBE JUST AS WELL....IMAGINE THE FORUM WITH ME LET LOOSE ON IT!!
STILL LAUGHING AT "CARAMEL"....TOO GO OEY!!
LINUS~ GOOD TO SEE YOU AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND THE FAMILY. MAY YOURS CONTAIN MORE REST AND REAL SLEEP. SORRY CJ WASN'T WELL AND HOPE THE HOSSIE PUT HIM TO RIGHTS!! FOR YOU AND CJ!!
PW~ FLAMING CREPES!! MORE REASONS TO CALL THE FIREMEN!! THAT'S OK WITH ME!! I HAVE SEEN THEM ON TV BUT NEVER HAD THEM. CREPES THAT IS! LOL
I HAD REGULAR CREPES. MY EX DH USED TO MAKE THEM ON SUNDAYS. HE LOVED COOKING. YUM!!!
NAE~ VERY GOOD TO SEE YOU ALSO!! SEEMS LIKE WE HAD THE SAME NEW YEARS THOUGHTS. I JUST WANT QUIET! LOL WE HAVE ALL LOVED YOUR STORIES OF THE CREATURES AND CRITTERS THAT VISIT YOUR FRONT YARD AND PORCH. BEEN GREAT FUN SHARING YOUR "WILDERNESS" STORIES WITH MY CITY FRIENDS HERE. THEY THINK A COCKROACH IS A WILD BEAST!
THEY SEE ONE AND GET OUT THE CHAIR AND WHIP!
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND AND I AM GLAD YOU ARE HAVING FUN WITH THE NEW CRAFT LOCKER! ENJOY!
LINDA~YOU WILL SEE I ALREADY HAVE ONE DAY DOWN WITH THE EXERCISE! I LIKED THE SONOMA DIET SITE. YOU GIRLS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB GETTING IT ALL STARTED AND WITH LINKS TOO. BET A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL BE LOOKING FOR THE BOOK AT LENDING LIBRARIES. AT WWW.AMAZON.COM THERE IS ANOTHER BOOK YOU CAN BUY WITH THE DIET BOOK...IT'S A MEDITERRANEAN COOKBOOK. I HAVE HEARD FROM FRIENDS THAT IS IS A GREAT BOOK. I MYSELF HAVEN'T SEEN IT. BUT THE COVER IS VERY INVITING! GOOD LUCK WITH THE RECIPE POSTING!!!
HAPPY ASKED "WHAT DID YOU DO DIFFERENTLY TODAY ..........I FINALLY EXERCISED!! THE PEDAL;S WERE DUSTED AND OILED AND OFF I WENT!!
Nice to see you Nae. Happy New Year HUGS!!!!!!!!
Mel is off and rolling. Must catch up. I did a LOT of decluttering in 2005 and will continue.Maybe I will declutter some body fat.
Yesterday,I did differently.... I watched an entire 3 hour movie.
I am getting someting funky done to my hair today. Low lights, highlights, red, blonde, golden brown........... maybe I will post a pic.
Pooh Bear is very sick with a severe cold and possible sinus (or worse)infection. Poor baby. But I think a sick man is a true test of a woman's patience, no?
I'm still doing well on my diet. My exercise and water intake is off a bit, but I've been rather busy. It will kick in. It has to. I'm going to spend my next evening at work learning everyone's name here and writing it all down in my food journal, so I can address each and every one of you motivating and marvelous women
Tonight is my TOPS meeting and then my one "free meal" a week. Jay made a pot roast in the crock pot and I bought some veggies, fat free dip, fat free chips and some pretzels to enjoy while watching the Sugar Bowl. Let's Goooooooooo Mountaineers! Let's Gooooooooooo Mountaineers! And just in time to watch it on my rather large screen, brand new, I wish I hadn't spent all that money, TV too.
The morning is almost over. I'm back at work again today. Yesterday was so quite a total of 5 phone calls, but today most everyone thinks the Light Office is open. I've had 35 phone calls since 7:41 a.m.
I'll be back tonight to catch up. I start but then the phone starts ringing.
Lets hope today is not as stinking hot as yesterday. Still the promised storms have not arrived. I'm just going to post here, then I'm off outside again to do some more work on the yard. Got a bit done yesterday so with a bit of luck there will be a bigger vege garden to tend next season. Today will be a bit more of the same and then I have some tradespeople coming to put in the side gate and fence. This should remove all tendencies for any lowlife to think about pinching stuff out of my shed anymore. I was going to get a pair of gates but the cost was prohibitive. DS2 told me to get them and he would come and put them up, but he is so busy and his lovelife is not doing very well at the moment and so he is not particularly happy. My gate might turn out secondrate - therefore I have called in the professionals. That's this mornings news.
Rose - so nice to see you again. Quiet and reflective at Christmas/ New Year is good. Always necessary from time to time to have some downtime. Are you still having deer and elk trampling the garden?
Mel - good to see you back on the pedals again - however do not overdo it. Remember how bad it felt to be in pain last year? Do you want this again? Build up to it gradually and do only what you can without pain. I don't wish to pass messages onto the world again this year while you loll around in bed and Jimmy's PJ's!
Linus - why did you have to take CJ to the hospital? At least that's what I presume you mean - sometimes speaking Scots is difficult. Glad to hear you did get out and about for Hogmanay tho'.
Happy - send the instant cold, instantly!! And also see if you can find some brain power for the cat! It's in the high 30's and she wants to curl up on me every time I sit down. She creates even more heat.
Holly - love the story of the DD and the glitzy stuff. Good going on the Flylady journal. It's amazing how writing things down really does help to keep you on track.
Painter - great crepes by the look of them. I used to love those things. Haven't had them in years and years. Maybe try to find a recipe for some - except that there is always too much for one. I don't think they would freeze too well.
LindaT - been hearing about the mudslides and rain up your way. From my place to yours I have to head North-East - yes believe it or not you are the 'East' to us. So next time I am heading that way, I'll call in and pull out a weed or two for you. I'm really good at it! since you can sit and watch them grow around here. Why don't the plants grow at the same speed?
Hiya Miss Turtle - Once I get through here I'll be off for my HotcupofJava and will think of you. Sorry to hear that Pooh Bear is sick. Get into that exercise. No excuses not to do it. (Taking a leave out of LindaT's book here - exercise is not optional). How did the Mountaineers go??
Hiya Ceejay - what a shame to be so busy during this time. Don't people know they should not disturb during Christmas and New Year periods.
Okay - I've missed a few - like tha Madcat - who is probably exercising her butt off somewhere exotic or writing her manuals, and Meadow, Tig, Ruth, Teel, Honey (where has she gone to?) but I've gotta go. Exercise calls, garden calls, housework calls before it gets too hot!
The new year's off to a good start - no more wine or sweets in the house (or in me). And even a few situps and push-ups last night! This morning on tv I saw an interesting interview: a man who works in a company where almost everyone works at a work station attached to a treadmill, and they walk all the time. He claims that set at 1 mph, the treadmill doesn't prevent concentration, and burns off 100 cal an hour (he was skinny, so probably more for the likes of me). It all made a lot of sense, not that I could type and walk at the same time. He pointed out that people in retail are on their feet all day. And there's no impact at that speed, and with comfy shoes it may be more comfortable and less tiring than sitting! Gotta get me one of them!!
Shad, your tape measure victory was an inspiration. I've taken my measurements and have them in a file, and will check in a few months. (My results were pretty sobering...)
Does anyone have info on where to get a pedometer that DOESN'T clip onto a belt or waistband - maybe attaches with some kind of pin? I'm very short-waisted, and when I wear my pedometer on my waistband, it pops off every time I sit down or bend over. I've lost a lot of them that way... Not to mention the way they dig painfully into my squishy middle.
My kitchen is calling me - I'm trying to prepare a few good meals to have on hand when I need immediate gratification. Bye for now!
Carla49--I bought a pedometer at Walmart. I wear it on my pants side pocket and adjust it to where it is almost on the hip. I had that same problem.
Shad--You and my uncle need to live near each other. He's forever wanting to be outside digging in the dirt, but I'm right behind him. I'm going to forgo my flowers at home and help him with his abundance. It will keep us both busy. He told me that my aunt, his wife, doesn't want him to be outside in the hot. Can't blame her though. I can see her concern, he's 74 years young.
Turtle--I was so glad that you decided to join us. Sorry that pooh bear is not feeling well.
Mel--What is this about Hugh Grant and batteries!!!!!!!!!! That puts ones mind to wondering.
Nae--Good to see you.
Holly--I'm jealous of your clean house and fly lady routines. I need to follow persuit.
Meadow. Yep, I've been the only person at work for the past couple of day's in the day time. My co-worker comes in to relieve me at 7 p.m.
Shad--Would you believe that I have the ac on today. It's warmer outside and it's humid in here. I may turn mine on tonight when I get home.
I know I've missed a bunch of people.
I'm taking the fly lady approach to exercising as Shad recommended. Got up this morning and did a 20 minutes of aerobics before work and at work I've completed some toning exercises for about 10 minutes, and have walked 1.8 miles so far at work according to the pedometer. The most important thing for me to do is eat light after 7 p.m. The only thing I will count this year is fiber grams. I basically eat the same thing, just need to add fiber.
It took the full holiday week to strip the wallpaper in between running in the mornings and riding in the afternoons and evenings with Slim, but it got done! We applied the primer over the weekend and got most of the painting done. Slim finished painting while I was at work today. It looks great. He spiffied up the house too. Very nice to come home to. I'll keep him.
I don't know how a week that is a vacation can be so short and a week that is work can be so long. Some law of physics or something. Not fair. I called Slim at lunchtime and told him I was lonesome. We've been married over 30 years and I was missing him.
Your heat sounds unbearable, Shad. Why do the animals want to snuggle when it is so hot? That's when our dogs of 60+ pounds decide they are lap dogs. aughh!
Mellie, do the firemen know about Hugh Grant? Does Toddy know? Do we need to start making up stories? We can, you know!
Meadow, I loved the pic of Mel in her wheelchair. Absolutely stunning and a perfect likeness. You are a genius.
Linus, thanks for the card. Hugs to your wee man C.J. Hope he is well now and the rest of your manlies are fine.
CeeJay, you are such a hard worker - I can't imagine how you get it all done!
Holly, when I read about your glitzy day it made me laugh and think about my daughter and our glitzy times we shared. How many times I went to work with green shiny fingernails!
Carla, I wish I could figure out how to spend time on the computer and the treadmill at the same time!! THAT would definitely be magnificent!
I must have hit some odd combination of keys. Word kept just highlighting text and it wouldn't let me cut and paste. Technology is so highly overrated at times.
Not much on tap for today. Had to go out for some groceries, spent a bit of time in bookstore. I think I've picked up some sort of lung bug – chest is feeling tight. On TB's suggestion I skipped the gym (ok, did he really have to twist my arm much? Probably not). It is mucky and grey out. Maybe it is just the weather.
In the meantime, I have been surfing the net looking for a new exercise routine to try at the gym. I'm looking for a couple of weeks long program to offer some direction. Haven't found anything, so I may have to pull down old issues of Fitness mag. I should also toss a lot of old issues. Why do I keep them if I never look at them (except for occasions such as this)? Anyone know any good sites offering this kind of service?
Java~ Hi Turtle Girl how lovely to hear from you! Here I'll pour you a cup. So good to see you. Sorry Jay is not feeling well. Food sounds good. Have fun watching the game.
Happy ~ Steal away. That's what we are all here for I know what you mean. I am now such a cheap drunk! My hair looks pretty cool – bit darker than I was hoping, but change is good. Friends took pictures at the party. I'll post one if they pass it on. You are so right, weighing and watching is a pain in the butt, but it is also quite a good wake up call and it really is, as you say, necessary. Heck, if it was easy anyone could do it. I'm going to get my scale down from the cupboard right now. Thank you for the reminder.
Meadow ~ I love wackamole! Keep trying is a great resolution. If that's all we can manage than that is a good day.
Shad ~ Another hot day down under! Thank you very much for the advice from an earlier post. Of course you are completely right - there is no point in pushing until we hurt ourselves, or until discouragement wins. It is just so hard sometimes to work within limits when I really want to ignore the limits until they go away. Problem is, they aren't going to go away. I am going to do as you suggest, though. Just working out a new program. I'm going to start slow and make sure I have some variety. Baby steps. Again. Once again, you are so wise. Maybe the moderators check up on us becuz we are funny and fascinating? Or potential rabble-rousers?? Either sounds fun.
MEL ~ I am not touching the battery comments!! :rotflmao:
Linus ~ It's no longer seasonal, but I'm sending wishes for a "Silent Night".
Carla~ What a neat idea that company had. I remember reading somewhere that if you replaced your office chair with a stability ball you could get similar results. That might be worth a try. I might try it here at home.
Tig ~ You and Slim are cute. I want to be making calls like that 30 years from now (if I can remember my phone number and they let me near electrical instruments).
Hollyhock ~ I wonder if the grass mold is the reason my sinuses are acting up and my throat is burning? Been bad for the last couple of days. Your makeover post made me laugh. You are so sparkly now.
Painter ~ Yeah one day I would love my own space for just a few hours of silence. Though, to be fair, I am more likely the one to be filling our space with noise than he is. He has the art of being alone even when I am in the room. Thank gawd he's not one of those joined at the hip types. But, yes, I dream of him working late shift or something…
LindaT ~ careful out there in the wet. I read your first exercise thread post and it is so good. Might as well lay it out in the open from the first. Those Sonoma girls are lucky to have you cracking the whip for them.
Rosebush~ frankly I think steelhead fishing is a great goal. Bravo for your post. We should be thankful for our home away from home.
MEL ~ Great work on getting that exercise in! Ok, so if you keep magazines about decluttering your house is that considered clutter?? :rotflmao: Go girl! You make me laugh. Mmmm Hugh Grant. I'm more of a John Cusack girl myself, but I'd take Hugh in a pinch (or for a pinch??).
Ceejay ~ guess things are back to normal at work. Pity how soon they forget about holidays, huh? Have a good one today.
Howdy to all the other chicks!
Anyway, I am back to searching for the answer. Umm, what was the question? Early bedtime for me this night - I'll be at the gym by 7AM tomorrow morning.
